constant airflow also helps here. don't just rely on thermal paste to lower your temps though it does.

Bad news, today I went to bios to check one more time oc1 and when I press f10 and the laptop restarted it went to dead...bios blocked again...this wasnt suppoused to happen!? It's a bios unlucked and I change to there settings...
-
It shouldn't brick if you just used their default settings. You must have changed something or forgot to "change back" something.
You need to drain all of the power and reset the system. Remove the CMOS battery, etc. -
I just put it to oc 1....there's a video how to remove the cmosbattery?
-
I guess for that you might need to disassemble your system as the battery is beneath the WiFi card. And CMOS battery reset won't effect AW 17 & 18 systems as the NVRAM is not volatile,
If the machine won't POST, this-- > by Mr.Fox
I guess many people have said don't use Dell OC profiles...papusan likes this. -
ALELUIA,
so I tried with a small screw to remove the cmos battery and I did, I removed 1 ram memory and the laptop started and bipped bipped many times until restarted and I put back the ram....and now it works
the probleme is that the cmos battery support it's not looking so good. I think I broke the cmos battery support....if the laptop works I need to change something in the bios? Or let it this way? -

I've said it all along oc profile are garbage " do not use it"
If one has the lowest rated processor it should be enough to take out a i7-4700mq processor and let the laptop started and bipped bipped many times until bios reboot and put back the processor. We who use extreme processor can use an i7-4700 processor for reset of the bios if we have such processor lying.TomJGX likes this. -
glad i disabled it then

USE XTU!!! Me and Papsun can't scream it enough!!!

To correct a no-POST condition on a new Alienware 17 or 18, do as explained here:
**Alienware 17 (Ranger) /18 (Viking) Owners** - How to 'Un-Brick' Your Mobo
◦Turn the system off and disconnect the AC adapter
◦Disconnect CMOS battery and system battery
◦Do a power drain (press and hold power button 30 seconds)
◦Remove all memory modules
◦Reconnect AC adapter and power system on
◦Let laptop beep until it turns itself off
◦VERY QUICKLY, WHILE IT IS OFF, BUT BEFORE IT ATTEMPTS TO BOOT AND LIGHTS COME ON AGAIN, INSERT A MEMORY MODULE
◦System will start to beep 5 times
◦Power system off
◦Reconnect CMOS battery and system battery
◦Replace any panels removed for access to memory modules
◦Done…
This isn't the ideal way, due to the risk associated with ESD. However, it is the only way I have identified that has a 100% success rate for me thus far. I am CPU overclocking enthusiast, so I have needed to do this multiple times when experimenting with values that the Haswell CPU did not particularly like. If invalid settings get stuck in the BIOS NVRAM it will prevent the system from booting and this procedure effectively flushes those value and restores factory defaults. If the system refuses to POST, you have little to lose with the risk of ESD. Ground yourself to the metal part of the chassis and that will eliminate the ESD risk.

I remove the ac power and the battery the cmos battery and do a power drain
Remove the cpu and had a 7 bip for a manytimes in a raw and didnt restart... I turn it off and nothing... The thing is that my cmos battery doesnt stay on it place... It moves away...the sistem can run without a the cmos battery? -
I think it will not work for me because of the cmos battery...doesnt sit correctly in the place... I want to try with the bios on stick ... Can somone help me with the .fb file for the bios?
-
I manage to do the all the steps
but
My cmos battery doesnt want to stay in place...so my laptop is now 1.1.2013...and I think is factory settings...
photo uploading
this is how my desktop looks and wile browsing google dont let me google because my laptop date is not good I change it...I know that the cmos battery rememebers date time and everything...
Now while browsing my laptop reaches 81 degreess all fans are spining at max speed even the gpu reach 62...and then there are stoping and come back to normal...and again the same thing...ufff
I am happy that the laptop works, glad it opened...but not good what it happend to it, I am afraid if I try to fix the cmos battery it will go in no post again, It can?
Now I see that my cpu has 3.4 ghz on 4 cores...that is not right...why? I checked I have A14 bios...but how I fix it?Last edited: Jan 2, 2015 -
I want to say thank you to this forum and to all that helped me 4 times to solve "no post" issue. Laptop works...I will buy a better one that doesnt need oc...Thank you guis.
-
What you need to do is not mess with the OCing settings in BIOS and OC through XTU!! How many times must we say this?
-
i dont want to talk about this, 2 times was because of XTU, 1 time I used oc1 from bios, and last time bios A14...so you dont have to say anything.

I am not reseting anything...let the laptop how it is...As far as I remember before the cpu voltage it was also over 1.2...

Go back in post # 94 where you tested Cinebench 11.5 stock. There was Vcore listed with 1.183v Stock With 3.406ghz (core 3 vid)
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-a14-overclocking-enabled-10.html#post9861345 -
I've check many times, make tests prime95 3dmarks and the same scores then before the bios blocked
So the 1.2xx voltaje seams a bit big but on full load the cpu take only 38w not even 47w how it shood be...so I dont think I shood worry. I hope I will buy something else. 10xpapusan likes this. -

So apparently I did not know this, but undervolting apparently bricks alienwares. I've tried all known recovery methods for resetting NVRAM, with no success.

An extreme processor are usually of better quality so it is easier to undervolting processor . Not if you are a bit careful and not undervolting too much. -
techos, you did what I did first time
follow Mr Fox bios reset methos and it will work, but it's hard work -
It has a 4700MQ. Tried reset methods, none work. I wish there was a rep on here that could help schedule service. Phone support is horrendous. They are trying to get me to reinstall the OS even though I can't even turn it on -_-

techos, when you start the laptop...it light;s the power button?
Because mine it stoped there...and from there with mr fox method I could revive it.
*UPDATE* BIOS A14: Overclocking Enabled
