hmmm.. I wonder if its less than 3 oz of liquid

Ok, I want this already. Asetek, you have a bunch of sales just right here.

I am extremely doubtful that there is any risk of leakage......saying that as someone who HAS watercooled a few systems and is pretty familiar with it all
-
Not sure why they need to wait for dell to implement anything though. They didn't wait on dell when they sold all their other after market stuff. I would buy this though, but not in it's current state. And no one is making that battery in half sizes at the moment since that's what they are using. or in this case, just the battery cover.
So to asetek....you guys need to move that pump to the 2nd gpu fan housing. if you do this, you can then start selling today. -
I'd rather sacrifice the optical drive vs losing the extra fan.
-
1: it's water
2: you can put a smaller fan if need be or allow the pump to incorporate a fan.
losing another drive would be out the question for the masses... -
It's personal, hehe. I hate optical drives
But you're right, the majority wouldn't part with it so easily.
-
you may hate optical but then you can slap another ssd or hard drive in there and get far more usage than slapping a pump in there.
-
-
but hey, that's just me. -
On a side note, I don't even think they need to sacrifice anything, just rearrange the components a bit when they R&D the R3 -
i hope it will never disapear ... i don't have a hobe blueray reader my blue-ray drive is in my laptop and i plug it to my tv when i need
-
will this really be used on M18X r2?
-
We are trying to get it used on the m18xr1. (for those of us that have that.
)

The only part that is dells call is the battery and warranty, since a new battery would have to be fashioned. the palm rest can be purchased and modded. this works if they choose a different location of the pump. also...warranty will not be included from dell! (that's the main stopping point from most even considering this) and asetek will not accept responsibly...
so...more than likely...it will stay just that...a prototype. and since dell wont even consider it unless they them selves can install and run it through rigorous testing for a few months...this will more than likely not make it the first go round...
but i would be willing to give it a shot if they move the pump. -
perhaps we can give it a little help by pushing this through the dell sugestion site
-
one would hope..., but testing needs to travel it's quality control path first....

Here is the idea for Liquid cooling by Asetek inside M18x.
Everybody vote. Let Dell see the interest
We should have made a new thread for it to collect votes btw
Idea Storm -
I am going to be grabbing a sager np9270, and I would be extremely pleased if sager would take advantage of this new cooling idea. If they don't I'll go for the M18x with dual 680m's when they come out, and the liquid cooling of course
-
Any update on this? Doesn't look like it will be an official upgrade from Dell so if they took the time to do the prototype why not just sell it to M18X owners?
I'll buy it. -

I want one. Now.
How hard, if one were even ABLE to get their hands on the parts, do you think this would be to install for those of you who are familiar with taking apart and re-assembling their m18x? -
I was able to overclock to the speeds he speaks of in the videos without liquid cooling, but the idea is pretty cool. I would guess any parts that the coolant runs through would have to be separated from any other components so if there is a breakage, the only thing that would be ruined would be your desk or lap for that matter. The more i think about it, they could use flexible coolant tubing and run that through a secure solid outer tubing so if there is a leak or break the coolant would just leak into the outer tube and be contained instead of filling up your laptop. lol. The problem is they don't give any real information. Everything , even in the video is all common sense knowledge. I wanna know how they plan to seal it, to prevent leaks, cost, ect..

Post prior to yours looks to be more than two years ago. This topic got a lot of attention after the video was released, if I recall, but then was left dead in the water.

Someone here mentioned the rights were purchased and shelved by Dell.

Great at sharing heat across heatsinks and not much else. I suppose if you want to turn your GPUs to the lowest and go for a CPU bench record this is the setup for you.
