Don't get your hopes up. I've been on the beta list for nearly 2 years. I preordered the collectors edition and still have yet to receive any invites. I gave up a couple months ago and got a refund. I'm not watching another MMO try and fail. We'll see how things pan out after release.
So far I've wasted my time/money on FFXI, FFXIV, WAR, AoC, RIFT, STO.
You know what's good and free? League of Legends. -
The community I belong to has 250 players ready to deploy! Can't wait to get in game.
-
My buddy has an Empire guild going if anyone is interested. We switched from Republic to Empire last minute so we are moving members over to pre-deploy now.
Guild name is Excessive Force. -

From what I have seen thus far, they are doing this SWTOR MMO the right way and its meant to run well for a decade. I am a glass is half full kind of guy though.
Both of my son's and I were no lucky enough to be chosen for the beta but as I recall from being a BF3 alpha player, some get chosen sooner or later than others.
I am certain there is a thread in this section for a month or two ago about someone starting an Alienware thread. Lets track them down and get them into Matrix's guild as I recall they were (saying) they were highly experienced with MMO's.
If no MMO masters then Matrix, Bigtony and us can be the Alienware Jawa Guild....Only four of us are needed to start!
-
-
I was lucky enough to get an invite for this beta weekend as well! See you ingame =)
-
I tried to start an alienware guild but not many people replied to the thread. I am still interested in doing this so if you want I can make the Alienware guild and I can msg everybody who posts on this thread.
EDIT: The server is down but as soon as its up I will go and form the guild. -
-
-
LOL I got the beta invite and the duration of it is:
START: November 11th @ 5:00 PM CST
END: November 13th @ 11:59:00 PM CST
>.>; -
I am good for three pre-paid guild members in my home and all we need is four to form a guild. Check with Matrix as he set one up called "alienware" as above in this thread.
Just the folks in this thread are enough to start a guild but would really like some experienced MMO guys as officers. -
Well I have a CE paid for so thats four altogether. I will also PM the link to anybody who posted here. What would be good is if the main poster edited their first post to reflect the link and information once its done.
-
-
Ok the guilds made. Pm me with your email for every account that you want invited and I will send an invite. The guild link is Alienware | Star Wars: The Old Republic
Every Alienware owner will get auto promoted to an officer and I will give as many rights as the game allows to the officers. -
Just applied to the guild using that link and everything seems A-OK.
-
If anybody applies and I don't accept them fast enough then pm me here and I'll expedite the process.
PS rep+ for the help Dr. J -

I've been leading an MMO community for 9 years now. Glad to give a few tips and pointers if it's needed.

I am pleased to announce that we have secured the guild and it is ready to go for when the game is out.
We would still love people to join so keep the applications coming.
EDIT: I also made a thread on the other Alienware tabs linking them to this post and to the registration. -
Republic or Empire?
-
I picked republic myself but I don't think that it's like wow where you can only have ie side or the other.
I will try and make a guild this weekend on the beta so that I can properly
Answer your question. -
You can have characters on both sides, but the guild and it's members have to be either Republic or Empire. -
-
If the current members all prefer to do the Empire I have no problems with remaking it. -

Id like to join. My name is StarWarsRival on the forums. What do I need to do ?

There are two Alienware guilds. The one you began and the other. Just join the other as we are all officers. We may need to vote on dark or light side?
Since my name there is DarthTrekker, you can guess my vote. -

Would it be too forward of me to start an Empire one? I've led a few guilds before, but not really looking to now. I'm just thinking it may be nice to have some people to group with regularly.

Some things to consider when building a guild.
First, you guys must decide how serious you want to be.
I hate to use the words hardcore vs. casual, because that typically turns into a flame war. However, you have to consider what it is you want to accomplish in the game, and how many hours a day/week you are willing to sacrifice to achieve those goals.
For instance, do you want to raid end game pve? Do you prefer to kill others in pvp? Once you decide on a focus, that should be the way you direct your guild so you can recruit appropriately. This does not mean you can't do everything the game has to offer, but it would be best to recruit people that share the same like minded goals that your guild does.
As for a list of things that really help a guild flourish, here are a few in no particular order with a brief explanation as to why.
1. Voice coms. Mumble, Ventrilo, Team speak etc. are the three main stream voips that are used mostly in gaming. It is essential to provide a home base if you will for your members to come together and share laughs and accomplishments together. This will lead to closer bonds and friendships, which is a big part of MMO's to begin with. This is also essential for raiding as you must be able to make adjustments on the fly.
2. A stable officer core. This does not mean that you hand pick the biggest dictators and let them go nuts on the community. You need organization. Think of your guild as a small business. To get people to buy the product you are selling, your salesmen (officers) must be good at selling whatever it is you are making your primary focus. Also, recruiting is monster task if you are serious about progressing your guild. You must have an officer or two dedicated to this task and have them stick with it. Recruiting is a full time job.
3. A fair loot system. Yes, the giant elephant in the room has shown it's ugly head. Gear progression is a very fun part of all MMO's and Star Wars will be no different. Getting item upgrades is the main focus of end game raiding for a lot of MMOers (new word?) and it must be handed out fairly. My community has used a ton of loot systems over the years, and we settled quite a few years back on Suicide Kings.
4. Be patient, be flexible. Starting a guild from scratch is fun, challenging and at times very frustrating. You will encounter great people along the way as well as a few bad apples. Take the good with the bad and drive on. Ultimately, while the desire to grow will always drive the motivation to recruit, don't just openly accept every person that chooses to join. Some people simply don't fit the mold for various reasons and sometimes you simply have to let them go. Avoid confrontations and be respectful. It will pay off with patience. Trust me, I have been there.
5. Optional depending on seriousness. A website of some sort though is a wonderful tool for any legitimate gaming guild. At first it certainly won't be necessary, however over time as the community grows, it's thirst for communication will as well. Let's also consider recruitment etc. A place to send the traffic, even if it's just a simple forum is always something quality recruits look for. You can also keep track of whatever loot options you are using if raiding ends up being your guilds goal.
These are a few things to consider when attempting to launch a guild. Some of these come with some cost if you choose to go full blown, especially when you start using dedicated voip and a website. Set up a place for your loyal guild mates to donate and do everything you can to recruit players that fit your mold.
Also, my sig has my gaming community linked in it. I am not advertising for it, but instead offering up the basic structure and FAQ about the community and loot system we use to help reduce some of the madness associated with running a guild. I have a lot of info that certainly would help any up and coming guild, especially with building their basic structure, rules etc.
So that's it. Guild running is ultimately a treat if handled properly. Embrace the challenge, lead your men/women to victory and most importantly, HAVE FUN! -

Ok I do not mind changing the guild to the dark side, intact I sorta prefer it that way. The only issue is that we need to track all the current members and have the re-apply.
But before I go and disband this guild to create a dark one we need to actually vote. So can you add a vote to this thread?
EDIT
OK I read up on the matter and we get to choose whether we are republic or the empire on PHASE 2. Currently we are on PHASE 1 so our guild has no alignment. We can vote and decide the alignment without creating another guild! -
This one is a Republic guild, that's how I searched for it. I don't think that can be changed at this stage of the guild development. -
The biggest problem right now is to figure out how many people want it as empire. I have no problems remaking it but I don't want to make such big decisions by myself since this is a guild for ALL OF US! -
I just apped today. My vote would be for Republic.
-
ok I will make a new thread with a vote and link it here. Please update the first post with the link to it.
By this time next week the poll will end and we will recreate the guild accordingly. Does that sound fair?
EDIT:
Ok the thread to vote is up: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m18x/624078-republic-empire-vote.html -
