Alienware M18x - Prepare to deploy Star Wars TOR

Hi guys I want to play this it will be my first MMO is it to advanced for a noob like me or is it easy to get into Just don't want to drop a bunch of cash on it for nothing. Thanks

 

It is pretty easy to get into so I don't think you will have issues to play the game.

Everything is voices and clearly marked on the map on where to go.

Downloading as I type this cant wait to play . Is there any tweaks I should do to my m18x for a smooth experience from the get go

 

according to your sig you got a 2xATI6970M so you should not have an issues running the game. As for tweaks all this time I ran it on max settings and it ran fine. Some other people had issues but any m18x setup should mac out the game without any tweaking.

I will try tweaking the latest beta drivers but I don't expect any worthwhile gains.

This game is sick!! it's addictive as heck!, I actually ended up rolling Sith with some rl friends and already level 50 and rank 50 in pvp hahaha good times! I nwws to go back to Republic Alienware guild and keep leveling there as well

dang dude congrats on hitting 50. I only have a level 18 commando and a level 16 sith juggy. Haven't had to much time to play though. I'll get them ranked up eventually though.

Do you happen to be the Sith juggy that go on the balloon with 3 jedi on tatooine? On the legion of lettow?

 

I believe it's an issue with the game requiring Admin privileges. I had to run Vent as admin for the push to talk button to work. Same with the G keys on my G15 keyboard, had to run the Logitech software in admin mode.

 

I am a lvl 26 Sith sorcerer on the same server. I am loving being evil but its sad that your friends chose a different server

 

I was a juggy on the beta, on the official release I am a jedi guardian 25 and a Sith sorcerer 26.

Sorc in pvp is severely OP so I am loving it!

 

I rolled a sage ... that's sort of the same =P

 

I see a nerf coming to sorcerer because they have multiple stun abilities while sage only gets one with a big timer on it.

 

Sages aren't meant to be bigtime DPSers - it's a support class for healing/DPS

I'm in a similar boat, except I had to send my machine in to get repair for various issues. I just hope they fix it correctly and don't screw it up like they did last time.

 

I don't like that my SWTOR account is automatically synced with my Origin account. If my SWTOR account is compromised, they can rack up huge charges on my Origin account. Good thing I don't have any credit card numbers saved...

 

Nah, what are we going to do when we hit 50 but help the other guys get to lvl 50? I want to run thru the Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent characters too, so will be a lvl 1 again, twice!

Have faith but don't be in a hurry... SWTOR is not going anywhere and upgrades are coming every third or fourth day it seems.

the official server is Nadist rebels (aka Nudist Rebels) but I know Xen here plays on anther server too.

 

Do you guys have fluid graphics when playing, my graphics stutters when panning around, doesnt matter if settings are high or low, its so annoying i stopped playing, kinda bored with it anyway so not a big loss i guess. This started after the maintenance last week.

I always play games with AC power connected, "high performance" power profile and still got the horrid fps lag in SWTOR

I've tried to install the newest driver version of my graphic cards, vbios etc...

Any suggestions ?

 

DevT - what kind of performance do you experience in demanding games other than this one? I only ask this because if other games perform equally poor, the troubleshooting path could be remarkably different. If it is only this game that runs like garbage, it is a good thing and probably has something to do with a bug that can be fixed though settings or software tweaks.

Have you checked the publisher's forum yet? http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=147732 Seems this game is writhing with bugs and people with a more powerful GPU setup than you have are experiencing the same thing.

Google'd star wars the old republic low frame rate and it seems there are 9,000,000+ results.

Have you tried uninstalling, downloading a fresh package and re-installing it yet?

 

You tried but did it take? Were you successful in the update?

I have a similar configuration and my FPS is excellent. If your driver did take, I would suggest what Mr Fox stated (uninstall/reinstall)

 

At 900p ive never had fps dips at all with my 460m. I think its just crappy drivers or somthing that are causeing these issues?

Deliverator is sure good at delivering something and it's a pile of crap . . .just think about something like that? think of the bandwidth they would actually need to do that . . . and as Stephen Reid says below

I don't foresee you having any issues with that setup at all. My 460m runs it at greats than 60FPS in almost all area's at 900p. 560m should be similar at 1080p. Hope this helps you out.

Got my butt kicked in athliss flashpoint, need some guild help.

Anyone on imperial fleet to do the flashpoints Friday 5pm est.?

 

I will be on at 6pm EST and I can help you with Flash points. I have done them all until Athiss I think but I have been focused on my missions. As a Sith sorcerer I just completed Alderaan but because I skipped allot of side quests I am only lvl 28-29

PS: As far as a computer to max out this game any m18x will max it easilly. The only issue that I have encountered is that if I unplug my power cable even for a second and then I connect it the FPS drops to 25-30 vs 110-120. The only way to fix that is a complete shutdown of my computer.
