I can hardly wait for it also. Love Doom and the new one looks absolutely amazing.
With the id Tech 6 engine, we should not expect any SLI support, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the recent id Tech 5 Wolfenstein titles to pieces. I liked Rage as well.

-
+1 for doom. It's shaping up really nice. Bummer if the Tech 6 engine gimps like Tech 5 though.
-
The biggest issue with Tech 5 is that it doesn't accommodate SLI, I think Tech 6 is going to address this glaring deficiency. Either way, with our single 980 Ti we're ready
-
I might be limited to 60 fps like Id5 though
-
I completely forgot about that, its the reason 3d Vision sucks with Tech5 games.TBoneSan likes this.

Oh and +1 for Doom, I'm kinda excited for this one. About 6 months or so ago I got back into classic Doom and Doom 2 but with the "Brutal Doom" mod including updated music. It was actually pretty awesome.
Anyways, backing up what I was saying about average stable OC on GM200, check out the recent posts over in the 980 Ti forum on OC.net:
www.overclock.net/t/1558645/official-nvidia-gtx-980-ti-owners-club/5220
Reading this makes me really happy as with 780 Ti both of my cards were not stellar performers; the most I had them stable at without artifacts was 1241MHz whereas others were pushing 1300MHz plus. They were reference PCB though, and this time around I waited for non-reference. I was initially going to wait for 980 Ti Classified but to be honest the additional power phases and potential unlocked voltage means very little with this chip. And MSI's VRM cooling mid-plate is far superior and you don't need a copper shim for your AIO's base-plate to clear it either, reducing thermal resistance. I'm a good 7C lower than with 780 Ti SLI with the same cooling solution with at least 3C of that not having to use a copper shim:
I'm truly stable at 1513MHz on the core and 2000MHz memory with default voltage. I've tried for 1526MHz, and it is only about 75% stable, I will eventually get a display driver failure and CTD, usually in under an hour or two. I've yet to get any of this at 1513MHz and I've been here for about a week now, gaming for hours on end and having done hours of Heaven, Valley and even Firestrike Extreme in Infinite Loop.
The card I went with was MSI's 6G, whose VRM cooling mid-plate is the best out there if youre going to be replacing the air-cooler for NZXT's Kraken G10.
Even with Power Target at 125% (I've seen 119% pulled through the card during Firestrike Extreme at 1550MHz core and 8200MHz memory @ 1.281v) or ~350W TDP the back-plate, unlike the 780 Ti ACX with G10's, is really only luke-warm to the touch.
Hardware Canucks recently reviewed it and managed 1500MHz, no telling how stable if at all though:
This HC review feels more like a paid advertisement from MSI to be honest. Those in the MSI 6G sub-forum aren't stable at 1500MHz with the default cooler and are also hitting 75C, some even 80C overclocked. They are also only stable around 1450MHz, most also with +400 memory. Some are unable to breach this even with the voltage at the 1.281v limit.
Bringing the core temperature is the best thing you can do to increase stability with GM200.
No coil whine was another reason I went with this card over the closest competitor, Gigabyte's G1, the card I was also considering. Coil whine aside the G1 is a better card IMHO, unfortunately it doesn't have a VRM cooling mid-plate to mate with an AIO as it's air-cooler directly contacts the VRM and memory.
I'm very happy this time around with 980 Ti, most 980 Ti Classified owners are in the 1450MHz camp and even Kingpin owners who paid up for the 80% ASIC are really not exceeding 1550MHz, something I can lock down solid with additional voltage and doing so for only $680, not $850-$1k (the AIO and bracket was simply left over from one of my 780 Ti's) Selling both my 780 Ti's for nearly as much as I bought the 980 Ti is icing on the cake. But having my voltage at the 1.281v limit simply to secure another 37MHz on the core only yields 400 more points GPU in Firestrike Normal, and this is with memory at +550MHz. I thought about running +550MHz at 1513 with default voltage but this only yields another 200 points GPU in Firestrike Normal and 100 points in Extreme and I'm getting a "Display driver has stopped responding but has recovered" message which is usually a good indicator that the OC isn't 100% solid even if it passes the benchmark without the display driver failing.
Brother T-Bone, if youre running a reference PCB card I HIGHLY recommend acquiring EVGA's Hybrid Kit.
Here's the correlation between core temp and peak stable frequency:
http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/1983-evga-gtx-980-ti-hybrid-review-and-benchmarks/Page-2
They manage no more than 1440Mhz with reference 980 Ti and core temperature of ~80C whereas EVGA's Hybrid, which is also reference PCB was stable at 1514MHz, only difference being that it's core was under 50C. This is where I also got the idea for using Firestrike Extreme in Infinite Loop.
Here's the latest build-log updates for my rig with the aformentioned 6G Hybrid treatment, including GTA 5 running at 1549MHz core (I say 1249MHz, still in Kepler mode lol) @ 45C with 1.255v stable with no artifacts on the ROG Swift:

Yes I do have an reference card. For what it's worth its got an ASIC of 76.
I've had that EVGA hybrid cooler on backorder for about 1 month now. Apparently I'll have it early September!! I'm tempted to go the G10 route like you but I've waited this long already. I'm looking forward to having this card OCed and quiet at the same time. I've held off from vbios modding until I get the EVGA AIO. -
Oh and T-Bone, if youre having driver issues 353.49 with clean install via DDU has been TDR and issue free for me since day one of 980 Ti.
Unfortunately, I just tried GTA 5 in 3D Vision and it's completely broken now. This isn't the display driver's issue though, it's one of the recent updates.
Batman: AC has some serious issues as well, I think 347.88 is still the best driver for this game if youre going to try it in 3D Vision (I highly recommend doing so).
For these reasons I've pretty much moved on from 3D Vision. G-Sync is pretty amazing, but I will miss the 3D.
Oh here's that lousy SLI scaling, score goes from 22k GPU to 38k GPU Firestrike Normal, losing about 6k points to scaling (44k to 38k).
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5453358
http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5471955
980 Ti SLI is only really worth it if youre pushing 4k. Coincidentally, you really only need 980 Ti SLI at that resolution alone as a single 980 Ti can push nearly all games out there at 1440p at an avg. 90 FPS completely maxed out. -
Damn that's an amazing ASIC score, I bet it will like being under 50C. I think you stand a chance of getting away with 1537-1550MHz on default volts to be honest with that ASIC score as I'm where I'm at with an ASIC of 69.3%.
Unlike Kepler, which scales with voltage and overclocks exceptionally well with lower ASIC scores, GM200 is the opposite, it doesn't scale with additional voltage and higher ASIC scores result in higher OC overhead, especially when core temp is brought down.
My 69.3% is actually still very decent. 980 Ti Kingpin's base $850's offering is binned with an ASIC score of 70%. I've seen many reports of ASIC scores down in the low 60's as well.
76% is extremely rare.
Concerning the AIO route, I wouldn't go with NZXT's Kraken G10 unless you also pick up an ACX mid-plate to address VRM cooling. This is actually a very viable alternative to waiting for EVGA's Hybrid solution to become available. I was running my 780 Ti's like this for over a year with zero issues (same ACX mid-plate). You can buy the mid-plate separately, contact EVGA. With that I would pair it with NZXT's Kraken X41 as in push-pull youre looking at temps a solid 10C cooler than Corsair's H55, the ideal alternative. You could theoretically, case airflow permitting, see load temps of 40C or thereabouts with an X41. With you ASIC score and those temps you might stand a chance of seeing 1575-1600MHz with additional volts.
Here's the risk of running the Kraken G10 on a reference card without a VRM cooling mid-plate:
https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/NZXT-Kraken-G10-Review-527/
Note that those whose cards can measure VRM temperature have reported a reduction in VRM temperature pairing the G10 with a card with a suitable VRM cooling mid-plate, as can be seen here (2:48 mark):
This is specifically why I settled on MSI's 6G (picture of mid-plate in last post).
Concerning AIO selection, go here to see the thermal difference between an x41 and Corsair's H75, which is essentially an H55 with two fans push-pull (H55 has only one fan out-of-the-box).
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/6810/nzxt-kraken-x41-140mm-aio-cpu-cooler-review/index6.html
It's about 5C cooler, and the x41 only comes with one fan, adding an additional fan should bring down the temps an additional 5C (this was my experience with the H55, actually seeing 7C difference recently sorting out some fan issues and having push fan disconnected for a few minutes my temps went up 7C).Last edited: Jul 28, 2015 -
I've also been anticipating DOOM 4 since the last DOOM. truly an amazing looking game so far.
I upgraded my 680ms to 980ms recently and I must admit it wasn't all swift sailing. I'm sure Mr. Fox knows what best regarding 780ms. Personal experience though I've never been happier coming from 680ms.

Yeah I'm totally looking forward to replacing my 680M's with a single 980M but am somewhat intimidated with the entire project. I'm hoping 980M works with Win10 and I can do the upgrade when I upgrade the OS to save some of the hassle.
Speaking of which, has anyone here received the invitation on their Alienware yet? I have the invitation on my desktop, but not on my M18x R2. I remember reading something about the free upgrade not applying to RTR versions of Windows? Is this the case? -

The Windows 10 notification icon didn't come up on my machine either, I had to run this community made batch file to sort it out (which was in the following thread, but I included the dropbox link to the file directly below in Step 1 - note that this is all copy & pasted from that link below - this was the only way that the notification icon would pop up, even manually making sure I had the right KB's didn't fix it, so you could try the batch file if you wanted):

1. Go to https://www.dropbox.com/s/0u0au9xgy6ss18p/win10fix_full.zip?dl=0 and download the file.
2. Copy the win10fix_full.bat file to anywhere else like desktop.
3. Right click the file and click run as administrator.
4. Follow the screen instruction untill to come to main menu screen.
5. On main menu screen do step 1 first and check if you go the updates insalled and and then press any key it will take you back to main menu.
6. Now do step 2 which only takes like 1 second and should have the icon in the task bar. -

It came up on my aw14 but not my 18x r2's.. I am going to try my 11xr3 tonight see if it pops up on it.

We have to have our bios set to eufi mode for the 980m to work from my understanding. So if you do a simple upgrade to win10 from 7 you'll stl be in legacy mode. It won't be a simple checking in the bios it will be a reload anyway.
-
Thanks I will try this, although I've tried similar fixes to no avail. I've even ensured that I have the necessary KB updates and I've even gone so far as putting IE back on the machine.
It was my understanding that we needed to upgrade to Win 8.1 from 7? What's the difference between upgrading to 8.1 and 10? -
Robbo99999 Notebook Prophet
I had tried the KB fixes too, but nothing worked apart from the batch file. -
I've tried all the fixes and the batch files and I have the necessary updates.
While attempting the batch file fix it noted that Win 7 RTM is excluded from the free upgrade. Do we have RTM versions or what?
I recently re-installed Windows on my machine, maybe it thinks that now it's an RTM version? I don't know anymore. -
I had gotten the icon to come up a while ago and reserved my copy. However since a image restore before than time it's gone. I'm hoping I can link from my reserved copy email and download an ISO.
-
Yeah I wonder if reinstalling windows from disc or image is somehow making it show up as not genuine or RTM or something. Is there anyway we can contact Microsoft for help with this issue? I looked before and there doesn't seem to be a way. That's one of the hallmarks of a great corporation, either have the customer service outsourced to India or Latin America or no customer service at all.

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 from a digital river download because Alienware didn't supply any recovery discs with my system (refurbished from Dell Outlet), and I ran that batch file following the instructions & no issues came about re RTM. -
I found this comment here by 'koconnor100' very interesting food for thought on the state of the cyber-security-surveillance state / corporatocracy.

Every new upgrade of windows, microsoft promises there will be no difficulties upgrading , your old software your old hardware, will work flawlessly.
Every new upgrade of windows, that promise has been ruthlessly broken. Old printers fall off the supported list and so you gotta go out and buy a new printer. The latest version of Microsoft Office turns out to be incompatable with the older versions , so everyone you do business with is forced to upgrade to "the new standard" , which they charge a fortune for. Your old games don't work any more (Just tried running Ultima 8 on a win 7 machine ...yuch yuch yuch !!!!)
And this year we have the whole Edward Snowden thing as well. Microsoft is spying you through the windows and hitting you with targetted advertising. Oh , and as an after thought , they're sending a copy of everything to the NSA as well.
Targetted advertising ? You mean like how you wade through ads to play a free game , only now you pay for it and you *STILL* get the ads ?
I'm not upgrading. And I'm hoping to push gaming companies to switch away from microsoft / apple / google. Maybe we can get them going on Linux Wine for the latest games ? Because this has gone too far. My operating system is spamming me with ads ? Forget it.
To think of having ads shoved down my throat through the OS itself, not a browser mind you, but the OS is truly frightening.
Micro$haft is definitely up to something here, there is no free lunch, they aren't mandating an OS upgrade from the goodness of their hearts. They intend to make money some how, whether that's sharing your personal life with the NSA or what-not remains to be seen.
The whole debacle with the XBone's (dude youre getting boned!) Kinect "needing" to be constantly on all the time and revelations that Micro$haft and Google and the rest do indeed share all of your information with the NSA et al. was simply a foreshadowing of things to come. -
In other news, here's a run with 1551 core and 2040 memory (+575) at the 1.281v limit.
It's really close to 22k GPU and would be around 22.5k GPU if I was on Win 8.1 and not 7.
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/7931511?
It's actually stable here but I'm not comfortable with having the voltage here long term. It's also hitting 121% PT (around 350W) in Firestrike Normal. I'm about to see what it pulls down in Extreme.
It's a good 500 points GPU faster than at 1513 core and 2000 memory (+500) with default voltage.
Temps don't exceed 50C, even with the additional voltage. Oh and no artifacts. At +600 memory there are artifacts however. Oh and this is with the supposedly inferior Hynix memory, not the vaunted Samsung memory the Kingpin crowd has and isn't getting more than +600 memory with.
I'm trying to secure 1537MHz and 2025 memory (+550) with only an additional 30mV (1.25v). I will report back if it's stable.
Edit:
Here's that 1551 / 2040 Firestrike Extreme run:
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/7931699?
PT hit 125%.
My 780 Ti SLI best with maximum stable frequency and voltage (1254MHz 1.239v) Firestrike Extreme GPU was 11.6k so it's safe to say that single 980 Ti is a solid 90% as fast here even with the 190% scaling at the higher resolution (vs. 170% Firestrike Normal).
The Firestrike Normal score of 21.75k is about 1.75k short of the 780 Ti's best of 23.4k. I believe this makes 980 Ti about 95% as fast as 780 Ti SLI at 1080p, at least my samples...
Update:
Holy crap guys, I just ran the benches again at 1539 core and 2025 memory (+550) with +40mV (1.243v) and not only did it pass without a "Display Driver has failed but has recovered" message (heartening, good sign of stability) but the performance is nearly on par of that having the clocks at 1551 and 2040 memory (+575) with the voltage pegged at 1.281v.
Normal:
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/7931825?
Extreme:
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/7931871?
I'm going to run Firestrike Extreme in infinite loop while I make lunch and see if it holds and then try some games.
Update and a correction:
1539MHz core and 2025MHz memory with 1.243v was not stable, it failed Firestrike Extreme infinite loop around 25 minutes.
Correction: SLI scaling is only 180%, not 190%, in Firetrike Extreme, or 2560x1440, and 190% in Ultra.
Normal: 170%
Extreme: 180%
Ultra: 190%Last edited: Jul 28, 2015 -
Little off topic guys, didnt wanna open a new thread for this.
Windows 10 is going to get released tomorrow. Just want to know how many of you guys are upgrading to windows 10? I would like to give it a try but I am running 980ms SLI wonder if im gonna have any driver problems... I mean the 980ms are already a little picky when it comes to drivers.... is anyone with 980ms running windows 10 preview? -
Not really off topic, this is the 980M thread after all. My last post elaborating on 980 Ti performance is an example of going off topic some.
I'm thinking about picking up Intel's 750 NVME SSD (2k read / 1k write) and clean installing Win 10 onto that....
Here it is, working with Win 10 on X79, even though technically it's only compatible with X99 and Z79:
http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/3b4y8f/discussion_my_experiences_with_intel_750_nvme_ssd/
Check out those read and writes!
Correction: 3k read!!! -
I have the same question. I wanna get 980m's soon. How do they play with win 10?
-
Win 7 Vs Win 8 vs Win 10 .... seriously, performance wise and game wise, for the moment 7 is great for me, I don't see any reason to switch to windows 10... do you?
-
[@pdogg93, I thought my 980ms worked fine when I was using win10 earlier releases. I just would use the win10 NVidia drivers and things worked ok. Gaming was not a problem, and of course except for the glitches in the earlier versions of win10 I enjoyed it. Of course now, the final version won't play nice. I'm just going to sit on the sidelines for now and wait for the bugs to sort themselves out. I see no need to rush, my pc is working great, and I have a year to update for free.
-
No it's faster. Quite a bit faster in fact.
For example, those with the same hardware running at the same frequency with the same display driver are a full 600 points GPU higher in Firestrike Normal only difference being they are on 8.1 vs. 7.
Guru3d has it up and running and says that it's 100 points GPU faster than 8.1 still.
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/microsoft-offers-online-tool-to-force-windows-10-update,3.html
So potentially, for me, this is a 700 point improvement.
To get an idea of the performance gain here, simply playing around in my last few posts with overclocking, running the 980 Ti at 1513MHz and 4GHz memory (8GHz actual), rock solid stable OC on default voltage, still) nets me 22.3k GPU. Upping that to the voltage limit of the card before artifacts, of 1552 core and nearly 8.15GHz memory only yields another 300-400 points.
So were talking the difference of like 100MHz on a 980 Ti here, or ~1450MHz vs. ~1550Mhz.
That matters, even if it's less than 5 FPS in game, that still matters.
Also, I am running a custom dark theme as I can't stand the glaring white background in Windows and on the web, for example, check out Hwinfo64:
Win10 allows a much better looking one right out of the box with a simple hack:
http://www.windowscentral.com/hack-dark-theme-windows-10-build-10074
I also have the issue where I screwed up Windows doing a hard shut-down during System Restore a few months ago (don't ask) and it has been limping along, unable to take any new updates since then (they cause BSOD at start-up) and System Restore no longer works at all. The only option for me is to reinstall Windows.
Being in this position make trying the new OS much more palatable, as I have to reinstall Windows anyway, why not get the performance boost and aesthetic facelift?
DX12 is also on the horizon, but we wont see any games that take advantage of it until next year.
All of this said I'm still going to wait a month or two before upgrading my desktop. My M18x R2, however, is going to get the forced Win 10 update, I'm simply waiting for the server load to settle...Attached Files:

Following up on my previous posts on Micro$haft shenanigans, where ads would be in the OS itself:
http://www.pcgamer.com/windows-10-solitaire-requires-a-subscription-to-remove-ads/ -
Win10 is basically fancy spyware. M$ automatically collects your info and will share it with whomever they please. This is why there is nothing on my pc but games no contacts, calendar or any other personal info. I was amazed to read how the new OS simply breaks into, errrr I mean seamlessly incorporates all your stored info for collection. Also, lets not forget all the free adware, errr advertisements that is melded into the desk top. As you surf the web all the sites you visited will start leaving ads-OH JOY. Everything you don't want your pc to do will be done by default unless you choose otherwise, and finding how to turn it off will be an adventure in of itself. Oh, if you turn on Master Chief's little buddy, Crotona, you can be in for a world of hurt. -
"Free Upgrade"
LOL.
I think I'd honestly rather pay for any performance improvements and not have ads follow me from my web browser onto my desktop thank-you.
As for Micro$haft collating personal data, well this is nothing new and is probably the primary reason people moved away from hotmail to gmail, (having our personal lives gleaned for marketing purposes / corporate shenanigans by Google instead is so much better).
Remember the launch of the XBone and how MS was like "oh you need to leave Kinnect on, a camera and microphone, all the time" coupled with revelations that MS, along with Google et al. absolutely give all of our personal information to NSA etc (thanks to the courageous selflessness of Edward Snowden et al).
Are we a culture of sado-masochism or what? Why do we do this to ourselves? Time to get going hard with Linux 2.0 or whatever. We have a LOT of untapped creative potential lurking here and elsewhere across cyber-space; are we simply only capable of complaining about these issues or can we actually make MS, Google and others obsolete?
Buckminster Fuller famously and astutely said that the only way to supplant entrenched systems, whether political, technological or social, was to make them obsolete.
It's time to make a better alternative.

Youre supposed to pay EVGA $1000 for 80% ASIC quality not get it for $650 you rat bastard!
I noticed youre on 353.62, are you getting Chrome related TDR's or are you using a different browser?
This is just another reason why I'm hesitant to upgrade to Win10 ATM; on top of my external sound card, Creative X-Fi 5.1 Pro, not having Win10 software avail until August (and who knows what other hardware isn't driver / software ready) I'm also afraid of moving from 353.49 as according to my personal experience and feedback this is one of the only newer drivers that doesn't induce Google Chrome related TDR's.
Your Firestrike score is pretty good! What are you seeing boost wise? I see that youre not pushing 4GHZ memory and I understand why; when I tried for more memory OC with the default vbios PT limit what was happening was that it was simply depriving wattage from the core. The adage, "robbing Peter to pay Paul" comes to mind.
It was only when I upped PT to 120% was I able to run 4GHz memory and not have the core dip from say 1513MHz down to 1493 etc. But I don't know that you want to try upping PT with the reference cooler.
If youre still waiting for EVGA's Hybrid kit to become avail I would seriously consider simply picking up a 980 Ti ACX mid-plate and pairing that with NZXT's Kraken G10 and an X41 with dual fans push-pull. You can do the above for less and have superior performance (better VRM / MOSFET cooling with the mid-plate, more rad surface area with the X41, 140x36mm vs 120x25mm). And best of all, have that performance NOW.
I also noticed youre on Win10 already, what are your impressions? Performance improvement in games? Did you come from 7 or 8.1? -
Lol..yeah EVGA are now charging to rig the "lottery"
At those clocks it boosted as high as 1465, but stayed mostly around 1452. I really need to get a vbios to fix that. Regarding the memory, yeah I haven't truly discovered my limit and the correlation it has with my core well enough yet. But I just dialed in another +150mhz and in only bumped my score an additional 25pts.
Cheers for the advice on the mid plate. I might look into that now. I'm growing tired of EVGA not having enough of their own product to sell. Since I'm sporting a NZXT case now a G10 would set it off.
Yeah I'm using 353.62 and am having much more success that the other previous drivers. I was using modded 350.12's up till yesterday. These newies...no TDR's using chrome. The only TDR's I get are when I push my card too far. Either that or a black screen that requires a reboot... very annoying.
With Windows 10. I upgraded from W8.1 with the intention to see what is and isn't compatible before doing a fresh install. To my surprise everything except Intel XTU is. It even carried all my little tweaks and time consuming settings I had. The upgrade is working surprising well. I thought I'd be wanting to do a fresh install straight after... but here I am somewhat chuffed.
It's really not that different to windows 8.1, but at the same time reminds me alot of windows 7.
Privacy concerns and data mining aside it's a step in the right direction. This crap needs to stop. I'm doing my best there. Cortana can go suck a lemon
It was nice checking out the DX12 drawcall benchmark in Firestrike to see how it stacks up to DX11 in that scenario - its a blood bath. I hope we can see some of that actually make sense in a game. CPU gets neutered in a similar fashion to W8 when compared to W7, but perhaps a touch less.
But I think I'm happy to stay on W10 for now. I am liking the aesthetics too.

I'm hearing that G-Sync is busted for those that have it on 353.62 / Win10.
I'm going to wait a few weeks at least before taking the plunge.
I have a question concerning voltage that I was wondering if you would be able to answer, and anyone else for that matter.
I can lock down 1552 MHz core and nearly 8200 MHz memory (+575) stable with no artifacts but to do so requires the full 1.281v limit.
I've hesitated to keep it here as I'm fearful that this much voltage would actually degrade the chip. Were I to not have a decent chip to begin with I would have zero compunction but my sample does 1513MHz core and 8GHz memory (+500) rock solid stable with no additional voltage and I don't want to diminish that. That and the gain from here to 1551 and +575 memory is only maybe 500 points Firestrike GPU.
The issue isn't temperature at all, even with the voltage at the limit temps don't exceed 50C with my particular AIO set-up. They do drop down to a good 3-4C though with no additional voltage.
I'm just concerned that that amount of voltage would degrade the chip in short order.
Others are starting to posit the same question on OC.net:
Question for you guys:
Can I continue to safely run Sheyster's 1281 bios 24/7 on my reference card. The card is watercooled and stays under 45 C typically.

@vulcan78 , if you're running what you feel is excessive voltage just to get an extra 500 firestrike graphics points when you're already at 20,000 odd only equates to 2.5% difference in fps. You may as well run a lower voltage that you're comfortable with for gaming, no point in chasing 2.5% performance for a chance of shortening the life of your GPU.

Yeah youre absolutely right and that's why I haven't been running it at it's max potential with the additional voltage. I just wanted to get your guys opinion on the matter.
Thanks.
And I'm really really lucky to have a chip that will do 1500Mhz without additional voltage. Many if not all are in the 1450MHz camp with temperature being a big part of the equation. Once T-Bone brings his core down to 45-50C there is a good chance he'll have a chip that will do 1550MHz+ without any additional voltage at 78% ASIC. I'm only at 69.3% ASIC and I'm getting away with 1513MHz core and 8GHZ memory (+500) with the core in the 45-50C range peak.TBoneSan likes this. -
Just wondering has anyone got windows 10 running on the m18xr2 with 980ms. Is there any throttling?! How stable do the modded drivers run?
I'm on the fence with win10 atm lol

Here's some feedback on the only existing Win 10 Nvidia driver:

As others have pointed out, the performance is about the same, so unless youre ready to take the chance with some problems you might want to wait until DX 12 actually arrives as this isn't necessarily a performance upgrade, it's more of an aesthetic one. -
Yeah I was going to say. For 24/7 use I've be happy to go with whatever the highest clocks I could get on the standard voltage. More so in your thermal situation than mine now brother Vulcan.

It'll be minimum 6 months before I upgrade to 10. I am not a OS early adopter.

Yeah hopefully you guys get a much needed win soon. Don't let it fall into green hands if you do get hold of it.

Just noticed premas website and there is a message that he is traveling... check it out.
Could this be why he is MIA?

Maybe he is just getting sick and tired of fixing all the problems of incompetent engineers that work for filthy wealthy multi-million/billion dollar organizations that can't find their butts with both hands and giving up like @svl7 did. You can only fight the battle for so long, and it has already been proven that stupid is an incurable disease. And, it only makes matters worse with end users expecting everything for free. Hardly anyone donates, they just take, take, take... but, freely mitch and boan when it's not perfect.

I know that and it's a pity, I always try to donate as much as I can.
Hope he comes back and release the vBIOS I'm using which is working almost perfect if not perfect.

Nice Score Brother Nikos what clock speeds are you running those 980ms? also what cpu and gpu clock speeds are stable for gaming? I mean the max clock speeds?
Aw m18x R2 Dual 980m SLI upgrade!!
