CM U3? Hmmm... it's just €25. I just might give it a try.

I have no complaints with my U3. Better than the Cryo LX I had some time back.....
-
I had just about every laptop cooler including the Cryo LX... The U3 is the first that actually cools both my CPU and GPU on my M18x by about 5c the CPU and 3c the GPUs.
Amazing how you can try out every product and the one that works is the very last one.... -

I think someone from Dell needs to have a M18x w/ 580M SLI on hand during the conference.
Before yesterday I never had DPC latency problems. After flashing to A04. It was a DPC Latency nightmare. Disabling the 580M's brought down the latency. It took 3 flashes back to A03 to get rid of the DPC problem. Dell needs to be made aware of this in addition to the 580M throttling. I know there are some who still experience latency. I highly recommend not flashing to A04. -
Skygunner27, be sure to mention this on Tuesday. I am still running A03 so no problems here.

I will. I hope they have a M18x w/580M SLI on hand so I can show them what I'm talking about. I almost went with another system exchange because it was that bad. I had consistent spikes all the way up to 160,000!!! Stay away from A04!! The tech I spoke to was like whoa!!!!!

I know this post is not so much related to the 580 throttle, moreso to the last couple of posts regarding latency issues.
I recently noticed some rather large 4000us spikes on my system using DPC Latency Checker. I uninstalled the Dellized version of the Bigfoot driver and installed the Official one direct from Bigfoot....this has seemed to resolve my latency spikes.
I only mention it because it may be the case that if you install Intels offering for the 6300 etc, it may have the same effect as ditching Dell's Driver as it has done for me (touch wood)
So, wether or not the latency is anything to do with the throttle or vice-versa, is debatable. It maybe rectifiable by other means.
Just my £0.02....and I am on A04 btw... -

Thanks for the heads up. I've been running on an Intel 6300 with Intel drivers. Whats's strange is if I disabled both 580M's, the latency would subside.

Odd....Dell Drivers or NV for 580's?
Unless A04 has some strange effect with 580m, it hasnt affected my latency running 6990's -
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
That is high compared to mine doing the same.....maybe another issue for 580's? - John, are you on Dell drivers for your 1103 or Bigfoot? - I made the switch to bigfoot earlier today and all my spikes dropped off the chart to what is in my screenshot...maybe worth a look? - if it works for you, then latency problems may be ironed out and shouldnt be directly attributed to anything 580m throttle/A04 (assuming your on A04) based.

that was in balanced mode...when i switched to Hp mode..it dropped a bit more in line..still high though.

Check your killer drivers, John.
Here's my latency on Bigfoot drivers:Attached Files:

running a04 this time round.
sure. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
As Aiki said, try the Bigfoot Drivers I linked at the top of the page. Fixed latency issues for me regardless of bios version. My DPC check is as Aiki's is....no spikes and all under 1000us all the time....(actually, the highest ive seen since updating to the bigfoot drivers is 600us but typically around 100ish)

@johnksss
Trying disabling both 580M's in the device manager. Then check your latency. -
i guess you are using HWinfo try closing that program... You problem for latency will be solved... Hope this helps...
Regards! -
the problem with that is...it wasn't running...
-
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
-
sure. ill do it now.
-
when in sli...it's off the charts....no sli...it's where it should be
-
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
Exactly. If you disable the cards it will go down completely. If you disable SLI it goes down to acceptable levels. This a problem regarding 580M SLI. This is what I've been trying to convey to the thread. It's not HWInfo or GPU-Z or the Fedex return shipping label.
-
on mine. with sli disabled. it's the same as if i enable the intel graphics. all green
-
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
So can we conclude that it is a problem regarding 580M SLI? We all need to be on the same page when we go before Dell. Currently I'm back on A04 with high latency, ready to offer Dell a chance to "AlienContact" with my M18x. So they can see this problem first hand. Hopefully I'll be able to flash back to A03 without the high latency. It took 3 flashes of A03 to resolve the high latency.

after letting it sit a while...it's on a steady rise..still green, but right at the green limits. single gpu.

i dont understand why it would take more than 1 flash to a03 to resolve latency after a04. thats really weird. im pretty sure thisll get fixed fast so i wouldnt worry.
-
im on a03 running these test.
right now im updating all the drivers to see if it changes. -
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion

m17x r1 with either 260m sli or 280m sli had the dpc latency issue. technically 560m sli/460m sli users should also have this issue.
-
Try typing this in command prompt (as admin):
bcdedit /set useplatformclock true
It is supposed to help DPC latency and is reversible. Google it "bcdedit /set useplatformclock true dpc latency" and you will see several threads about this. -
Guyz
Ithink you should not pull this thread way out of focus from Contact group to DPC Solving thread... It would be better if someone creat new thread and push the discussion there... and Just highlight main points of discussion in this thread... -

I hope that they will read these posts so that they can remain informed on current developments. -
Contact group, don't forget the meeting is tomorrow!
-
im going to try and dial in for a few min, depending on work, but you won't be hearing from me. Just a lurker this go round.
-
And like I said, all SLI equipped systems that passed through our lab had higher than normal latency. -

0) Keep the DPCLat Checker running in the background.
1)Open your browser with a bunch of tabs loaded with flash (youtube), switch between them, scroll, etc.
2) Open and scroll large pdf files
3) run benches, games
4) Now run the checker in the idle mode.
Analyzing the results.
During gaming benching, video&audio playback it's normal to see some rare red spikes as long as the are under 4-5k. Higher than that and a picky eye may notice mild stuttering and audio studdering/popping etc.
When idle, you shouldn't see any red spikes and ideally, you should be able to stay 100% green and under 200µs if you ever plan to do a pro audio work. -
running thing about that....i ran it in the background while playing rage and that sucker was all super low green....ill have to retest that later.

Hopefully I'm right with the time.
When does the invite pass code become valid? -
Skygunner, the meeting starts in 30 minutes.
-
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
you are the best!!! Ignore my PM. I'm running on empty...lol. Did a AWrespawn last night to try and get rid of the high latency caused by A04. The code is still saying invalid!!!
-
then why does the new pm say 10:am?
and now the pass code is invalid? -
the newest email gives the old time 11am-12pm. however, the machine keeps on saying "your participant code is invalid"
-
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
same here. i've tried 4 times. when i press the prompts for help it asks me to reconfirm with conference cordinator.
-
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
try to email Bill. i'll do the same. the new code says invalid
