If any honestly. If I get another response like that I'm going to get hold my old distributor and see what they can do because I know parts don't cost that much wholesale especially on older tech. New I can understand but not old tech.

Great work Codenamefa. Thanks for all your effort.
It looks like upgrade monkey are just giving us what their best offer would be on ebay. How sad but probably their loss. Hopefully we get some luck else where.

Why bother with upgrademonkey? Just look at how much they're asking for on Taobao compared to eBay and it's clear that their eBay pricing is completely unrelated to cost. They're in a market without official competitors they can probably set the price anywhere they like.

Agreed.. These prices they're offering are still a complete rip off.. I wonder is it cheaper to buy them directly from Dell? At least the GPU's because I know the CPU's are a complete rip off...

Thanks for your hard work Codenamefa, and yeah I agree don't bother with upgrademonkey. They're there to make money off chumps who pay their "Buy it now" price on eBay, not to negotiate to give the best prices so both parties will be happy.

That said, just casually mention they're losing over $20K worth in sales because of their greed. They probably won't care but at least it'll feel good :p

$850 for an 880m! That's outrageous! Upgrade Monkey just lost a potential set of customers. Thanks either way Codenamefa.

I think 25%, before I get excited. How about we get a 40,000$ order together. The bigger the order the more likely we are to get a discount. Thanks for trying. Will see what the next one has to say. Question. How does one buy these components at cost?

Ya I'm going to kind of strong arm the other 2 sellers I have talked to so they don't think they can get away with trying to smoke show us on prices.

upgrade moneky is 20-30% cheaper on other sites, where the price is more competitive. Ebay is expensive for popular items

I would also be interested if this goes down. Price for 880x2 or 780x2 and the 4940mx. I know I'm late into this but, if I'm not stepping on toes here I could ask around as well?

By all means ask around, I have been asking like crazy and hoping someone sticks and doesn't give a joke for pricing. Just make sure you refer to Notebook Review Forum and to this thread so they know you aren't joking.

Sorry guys I been working and then on my days off getting my Jeep completed. And honestly at this point with all the responses from the resellers I can honestly say they are only in it for the money, they really don't want to give us a discount, I managed to get a guy to agree to $415 per 3940xm for 10 of them but other than that the rest were just an utter joke for the rest. My old Distributor was able to shed light on the subject of the cpu's and it was around $300 a piece for 3920/3940xm's right now but because I don't have my business anymore I can't buy those. So basically lets throw the white flag up because we have a better chance at getting parts here for cheaper than anywhere else. I had high hopes that these sellers would give a good deal but they are sadly a waste of time. Maybe paying for parts from them is if you want possibly new equipment, the ones I was going for were system pulls and even then they still wanted freaking retail for new. Anyways enough rambling on this. As of now there will be no group buy.

Sorry it panned out this way, but can't say I'm too surprised. Thanks for all your efforts and for organizing this though, definitely a worthwhile experiment.

Ya I didn't want it come to this either, I was hoping for 1 of the sellers to swallow his pride a little bit and overlook the profit margin for a big pay day but they all just want to pad their wallets. Just shows how greedy this world has become, Oh well, maybe ill take a peek one day into Tech Data (Dell's Main Distributor) and see if I can become a reseller for them and see what kind of prices they offer.

I may be able to get a good price on some 3940XMs, but it depends on how many are interested and able to pay soon. I'll ask about other CPUs as well.
