Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
Thanks that is what we need to see looks like 6990's are not much faster than 6970's but that could be the drivers only so is a good start for now
-
What driver is it? 11.6?
-
is dell`s driver
-
And 3dmark11
Version: 1.0.2

Well, and the xperts conclussions?
-
Nice score, thank you!
-
looks like 6990s will score around 8400/8500 max in 3dmark 20011
-
You're welcome.
Are a unlocked 6970 or a real 6990? -
Looks like 6990s are just a bit faster than 6970s, however, you're probably on an older driver. I'd expect performance to improve more once AMD kicks out a couple software revisions.
-
Looks like a real 6990 to me.
-
Zero989 these are 6990m.
-
Pixelcloak, tomorrow (here are 3.20 am) I will install his own hdd, and retest, this hdd is from my old m18x.
-
ES 6970m from dell also has 1120sp when unlocked, so I can't tell it is a 6990m or not.
Unless you disassemble your m18x and check the cards.
But that may be NO point bcz they both have 1120sp @715MHz/900MHz, should be of the same performance. -
have any photo to see the diferences between 6970m and 6990m?
-
Oh wow, ok. I didn't realize you were using a hard drive and software from your old m18x. That could make a big difference.
-
could be, but i use the same driver (dell's driver)
-
i know...? i said.. looks like these 6990s wil lscore 8400/8500 max..
-
Those 6970m that can be unlocked to 1120sp are engineering samples so there should be ENG string on the die.
-
Sorry, my english is bad, you mean overcloking it?
-
Dell's driver is a bit old, although reliable. I would hope a new version would be released soon.
-
strange, at least the device id should be different from 6970m
and your running@pcie x8 speed
-
They put in my laptop engineering samples¿
-
yes, 2x8, I suppose that is normal, no?
-
It is hard to tell.
-
And impossible to believe. Does anyone have a 6990m in the laptop?
-
after overclocking the max score w/ a 2920xm should be around 8400/8500.
-
ah, ok i didnt know.
Well, men its time to go to sleep, see you tomorrow. -
They have same DeviceID 6720 according to clevo's driver for 6990m.

Yes those are ES Engineering Samples. Send them to me and I will send you GENUINE DELL ATI 6970m CF from my M18x... NO ES BS.
-
I would agree and highlight heavily that performance will likely improve as drivers come out that begin to leverage the abilities of the 6990. Congrats on first tests!
-
How much slower is it compared to the 580?
-
Who said it was slower!!!
But i feel the 580m would turn out to be the better card with the better driver support. -
Nicholaus.rossi Notebook Evangelist
It's highly likely that both cards will trade blows in various categories. I would hope that the 580m would outperform the 6990m given the extreme difference in cost, but all we have is speculation at this point. That being said, I don't think any of us will have problems running the latest games for some time to come - to include 6970m owners.
-
@koelle would you please upload the vbios? I'd love to take a look at it. I actually have a ENG 6970m which is unlocked so maybe we can see if there is a difference. To do is, just open up GPU-z and click the little picture of the chip to the right of the BIOS version string.
Thanks! -
It's the drivers. The 6990M wasn't even in mentioned in the .inf in Catalyst 11.1. You should try Clevo's Catalyst (11.5) or higher if you want better support for these cards.
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
is a combination of problems he need to do a fresh install on the SSD and grab the latest drivers i think 11.6
-
Yes, I have already upload the file.

I' have been searching the drivers, but I didnt found any drivers, are only for 6970m, for the Model :X7200
-
Could ypu, please, share the temps of your cards for us, so we make sure there is some room for overclock. You might wanna try this program
-
Yes, downloading
-
Here you have ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting
and the temps http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/810/doszq.jpg/
My room is 26º celsius. -
Hmm, it seems that Clevo removed them because I don't see them either
Try these:

Also, be sure to disable the integrated intel GPU before installing, as described here:
