Well, and the xperts conclussions?
-
-
looks like 6990s will score around 8400/8500 max in 3dmark 20011
-
Are a unlocked 6970 or a real 6990? -
Looks like 6990s are just a bit faster than 6970s, however, you're probably on an older driver. I'd expect performance to improve more once AMD kicks out a couple software revisions.
-
Looks like a real 6990 to me.
-

-
ES 6970m from dell also has 1120sp when unlocked, so I can't tell it is a 6990m or not.
Unless you disassemble your m18x and check the cards.
But that may be NO point bcz they both have 1120sp @715MHz/900MHz, should be of the same performance. -
have any photo to see the diferences between 6970m and 6990m?

strange, at least the device id should be different from 6970m

And impossible to believe. Does anyone have a 6990m in the laptop?
-
-
ah, ok i didnt know.
Well, men its time to go to sleep, see you tomorrow. -

I would agree and highlight heavily that performance will likely improve as drivers come out that begin to leverage the abilities of the 6990. Congrats on first tests!
-
How much slower is it compared to the 580?
-
But i feel the 580m would turn out to be the better card with the better driver support. -

It's highly likely that both cards will trade blows in various categories. I would hope that the 580m would outperform the 6990m given the extreme difference in cost, but all we have is speculation at this point. That being said, I don't think any of us will have problems running the latest games for some time to come - to include 6970m owners.
-
@koelle would you please upload the vbios? I'd love to take a look at it. I actually have a ENG 6970m which is unlocked so maybe we can see if there is a difference. To do is, just open up GPU-z and click the little picture of the chip to the right of the BIOS version string.
Thanks! -
It's the drivers. The 6990M wasn't even in mentioned in the .inf in Catalyst 11.1. You should try Clevo's Catalyst (11.5) or higher if you want better support for these cards.
