Speedy I get 6394 with 6970s (referenced in another thread) so yours should be higher. Do you have everything set to performance and "amd optimized" UNCHECKED? That definitely raises the scores.

Interestingly, I think that overclocking the 6970 to the 6990 will probably net about the same outcomes. That makes me wonder how effective those extra cores really are in gaming or if there is bandwidth limitations. If I OC, I hit over 7K easily.

If you post your results like speedy will the score show P23659 or P22497 ?

Just want to keep apples with apples with our numbers here and I'm not sure about how the post will show.

Edit.... Ok I see speedys graphics score at 23089 with a P22100 total score.
that would give the stock 580m's a 2.46 percent lead in 3D mark Vantage in card score alone.

Using total scores that would give the 580m's a 1.76 percent lead.

Thats putting the two cards very close to each other in 3D vantage.

When you guys say stock drivers are you using Dell drivers? The 580M driver is the 460M since there are no 580M drivers out yet?

Edit : I guess the new machine ship with 580M drivers

Cant upload as i have no internet to compare, but the way i read this is the gpu score is 23659 cpu score was 19??? and this P22497 is the average of the 2 (gpu and cpu) so hence if i had a more powerful cpu and the score for the cpu rose to just say 22??? it would show the average of the 2.

Please correct me if im wrong!! so to answer your question it would seem 3d vantage will show the lower overall combined score.

It looks to me that when you post your score it will be a CPU and GPU combined score. speedy at 22100 and bar code at 22497

If you look at speedys post, about half down, it will show his GPU score alone. speedy at 23089 and bar code at 23659

And i'm thinking both of you are using the 2720QM CPU

In the end Using total scores that would give the 580m's a 1.76 percent lead.

    Speedys used 3dmark 11
I used 3d vantage (not sure if these are the same)

I'll run 3dmark11 tonight in about 6hours time when i get home.

I will be running all stock and overclock 3dmarks later on with the 275 drivers

His 3D mark 11 total score was P6362

I was asking to Koelle and Speedy about the M18x. I'm from Mexico as same as Speedy and the only option to buy the M18x is through hidevolution.com, I guess everybody understand the specs. I know for people in USA make no sense to pay 3600 usd, but we can´t buy it in dell USA cause they don't make international shippings and for us is cheaper to pay that (even with the taxes because people at hidevolution can declare a lower value and avoid some taxes when the machine arrives mexico)... the only problem is the warranty and the keyboard. If I had any problem I must send it back to hidevolution to make valid the warranty... And the keyboard... well, the m18x is not on sale in any country in america latina so they don't exist and the people in dell España told me they don't sell it separate...

Hola, suena bien por todo lo que te ofrecen, que no puedes obtener el teclado en espaniol con ellos ? si no yo creo que lo puedes conseguir en alienware mexico pero no sabria decirte porque yo estoy en louisiana

sounds good for all they offer you ,they can't get the keyboard for you ?
if they can't i think you can get it from alienware mexico but i don't know because i live on louisiana

No, they can't get me a keyboard in spanish... that's what they told me in dell USA.. and the people in dell Mexico don't even know the m18x cause as I told you, that machine is not on sale yet here... I was thinking that maybe I can wait until the M18x be on sale in dell mexico and then probably I can get it directly from Dell Mexico... but maybe that day will never come... lol... I'll see what Koelle can tell me... It should be nice if he makes me the favor to buy it and send it to me... I'll pay for it, obviously

yes you can ask Koelle to see if he can buy the keyboard for you and get the machine now because even if you wait until they release it on mexico is going to cost a lot more seems like alienware on mexico is overpriced if is anything i can buy for you and send i can do it of course I need the money upfront

qué es upfront?? jajaja, perdona pero como verás mi inglés no es del todo perfecto...
Well... before I took the decision on the m18x I was going to buy the m17x, but I had a problem and spent much money, then the m18x was released and I was saving some money... well the point is that the m17x is on sale in mexico, yes, overpriced, really overpriced, but when I wanted it, I called to dell mexico and they told me the spanish keyboard was on about 90 usd (980 pesos mexicanos). I guess it's expensive in front of the prices in USA, but I think is not very expensive... so anyway, let's see what koelle can do for me

Sorry up front , dinero por adelantado

you know what? now that you mention the M17X keyboard must be the same as the one on the M18X because what makes the M18 keyboard bigger is the extra keys on the left side but those are separate from the keyboard you should investigate about that if they are the same just get one form alienware mexico

Now that I'm watching those pictures... I see the 5 keys on the left are separate, but the numbers keys look separate too in both models... is that correct?
My concrete question is... maybe outside look separate, but I don't know if they are internally connected........ or maybe the m18x has 3 different connections (left side keys, keyboard, and numbers) and the m17x should have only 2

Damn, you are fast, lol, thanks for the replies. Yes, they have the same part numbers... I saw a video from youtube where a guy disassembled a m17x r3 and the keyboard and numbers are only one part... but as I told you maybe outside looks they are separate... Koelle, don't you want to disassemble and tell me if they are actually separate inside? I mean, if they have separate connectors too, because that would be the main difference... Ok, I know they have the same part numbers but I want to be 100% sure before I buy the keyboard

Hi Ewalach, the operator sais that he will send me an email with the price, for this reason I havent tell you nothing still, im waiting.

Yes you can switch from discrete to integrate, I havent try it still but, with the "old" m18x with 2720qm around 3 hours and half, all at minimum.

I'm scoring low in 3Dmark Vantage. Speedy got 22k and we have the same system, except he has the 2720QM and I have the 2620.

My score was 19,963, stock. I then OC'd to 825/1050, and that brought it up to 20.6k.

    What gives?

I'm using Dell drivers. I think he was too, though.

After what i have been reading, he did a clean install and turned off superfetch.
He is using the 11.8 drivers. And maybe he is not using ccc.

Try with that, and bench again with the 3dmark 11 score aswell. try to turn everything to performance for the card.
