Those are pretty tight, so good job there. The big question for me is, "what, if anything" have you actually gained in terms of performance? Can you run some MaxxMEM2 benches and shows us? Even though memory overclocking doesn't produce remarkable "I can feel it" results, it's still kind of fun to tinker with.

Here are the results below. If I wanted to put the BIOS settings onto the chips as the BIOS resets to defaults once in a while, I would just read the memory, change the settings in the XMP editor, save and write to SPD?

Your results are almost identical. Good job. If you click "Submit" in the top menu it will show you the HWBOT MaxxMEM2 score in "marks."

Yes, I believe that would be all you need to do to program one of the XMP profiles in the SPD. I was going to program mine (the HyperX has two empty XMP profile "slots") and ended up deciding not to bother with it.

XMP's advantage can come from not changing the SPD and potentially requiring tinkering to restore it, at least on my system if I set an XMP it does not like it resets and goes to the standard profile.

Any one that is Thiaphoon Burner savy want to help me get 2133mhz into a XMP profile. I've tried but it doesn't seem to allow me to boot on it. I can put the settings manually into the BIOS for 2133 but every once in a while it resets back to defaults.

Can the 18x r2 have ram at 2133 without any settings playing. As in buying a set of 2133 and it being plug and play to run T that speed?

Yeah the alienwares are about the only ones capable of running that memory in dual channel with a few other exceptions.

Personally, I wouldn't bother spending $110 on 1-3% performance increase (assuming you're on stock 1600 RAM). But it's completely up to you, and if you feel that gain as worthwhile.

I agree with Hybrys on this. This is not a good bang-for-the-buck upgrade. That is very good memory, but I can tell you from recent experience that any performance gains will be minimum and more or less imperceptible while using your machine. You can measure the difference with a memory benchmark, but probably will not "feel" any kind of improvement.

    Hi,

I written some xmp profile into my memory with thaipoon burner, but it doesn't work.
I have m18 r2 (A11 bios). After restarting I hear four short beeps, and the settings go back from the xmp to the default.
Can anybody give me some good xmp profiles to g.skill memory? Original Thp file.
    Thank You.

    And Happy New Year!

You obviously need to tweak the memory timings further as the chips or the memory controller can't handle the new settings.

Since each stick is made of multiple chips the clocking performance of each stick can be quite different so the testing comes down to you.

I'm always trying higher timing of profiles, but it doesn't work.
    For example: 2133 mhz cl 14, 1866mhz cl 12
Into the BIOS is enough to select the XMP, or something else too?
    Is this right?
    Module Vdd Voltage Level: 1,65v
    Memory Controller Voltage Level: 1,3v
    Or this one?
    Module Vdd Voltage Level: 1,35v
    Memory Controller Voltage Level: n/a
    Thank You.

As Meaker pointed out, usable setting will vary depending on the RAM. If you want to try these BIOS settings, they work with my Kingston RAM in the M18xR2. Even if these timings don't work, there's nothing to lose by trying. You'll have to spend some time tinkering the find what works best, but maybe this will be a good starting point for you. You can try bumping up some of the settings if it does not POST, like raising the tRFC to 165 or 171, etc. When you find what works consistently and is stable, then you can commit those settings to the memory using Thaiphoon Burner. For now I would stick with BIOS settings and hold off on reprogramming the memory until you get it dialed in.

But my xmp profiles do not work, unfortunately.

Nice! Glad that worked for you.

I also have no luck with XMP profiles with the HyperX memory. There are no default XMP profiles. Those "slots" are empty. I tried importing some and I also tried creating my own in Thaiphoon Burner but the machine will not POST using the XMP profiles. I don't know if the settings are not good or if there is just an issue with the BIOS not being able to use XMP profiles. I got tired of messing with it since the performance gains are unremarkable and decided using this custom profile was good enough.

There are slight differences in some of the XMP timings, they don't always directly translate.

    I have same problem.
The Aida and Cpu-Z too can recognize the xmp profiles, but the XTU doesn't.
    I don't understand why.

Just move in small steps and make sure you can recover settings it does not like. I beleve the memory voltage is fixed to 1.35V in mobile haswell regardless of what a bios may say.

I believe you are correct about the memory voltage. That isn't good if you want to tweak the memory to improve performance because 1.35V is not going to go very far.

Depends on the chips but beyond 1866mhz there is not much of a gain to be had if any.

    At higher frequency doesn't work.
    I gave up. :(
In normal mode at 2133mhz cl11 only one memory is fully stable on 1,35v.
With two memories at 2133mhz cl12 is perfect on 1,35v.
On higher voltage I didn't try.

because we're at 1.65volts or less, the only thing that is gonna improve anything is the timings... really..

Thanks for posting it. What are your winsat and MaxxMEM2 results looking like with the overclocked Crucial BallistX? Here's a fresh run with CAS10 on my HyperX @ 2133. You have to click on "Submit" in the menu of the main MaxMEM2 window after the testing to see the pop-out window showing the actual "score" for the test.

Going to move 16G over to another laptop. With the remaining 2 sticks does it matter if I have them in slots A/B or C/D? Or do I need them in A/C or B/D for dual channel mode like you do in desktops?

From what I remember using only two neighboring slots will allow dual channel. Not sure about if you deliberately put them on both sides of the motherboard..

That's an AIDA64 Sensor Panel. You basically build your own gadget to show what you want it to show, choose whatever kind of graphs/meters you want, color schemes, etc. It's very cool.

I don't know. It was not horrible performance and it was very stable, just slower (and, of course, that is unacceptable).

When Intel XTU says 0T in CMD, does 0T get applied even though 1T and 2T are the only options in the BIOS?
