M18x Order Status Discussion

Still "In Production" .. getting awfully close to my EDD of 7/1.. I have the WirelessHD Transmitter and black base

 

My system went from in production to shipped in 6 days.

Ordered the 20th and listed as shipped the 26th of JUN.

 

My rep told me that the part that is backordered is expected to arrive just on 8/7, that means my EDD will be pushed back again to mid july.
Insane...

 

dang, did they confirm it was the red base or wiHD holding it up?

Hey, my laptop is still "in Production".. No surprise here, why do i even bother checking...

 

If I get the black case and NO wireless HD card how quick would I expect this to ship? Also considering an extreme i7.

 

it will probably never ship, ive been in production for about 34 days now.

 

Est ship date shows 7/7/11 with my current config....what specs have you delayed that long?

Well now my rep is singing a different song.
Now he claims that what's holding my order is the WiHD card and not the red base. I am inquiring with my sources at Dell to find out the real reason for the holdups.
I am in production for 39 days today, specs in sig.

 

spoke to one of the reps this morning and he says mine has exited the factory. Can anyone tell me how long before i get it

 

^^ if he meant that it left the factory in china, then 3-5 days to get to US + depending on your shipping method either 7 days for normal shipping or 2-3 days for NBD.

 

Anyone see that the new cards are announced? Endgadget had an article on it

Order delayed again. Wrong Operation System Item Number. Need to re-order. This is the worst customer service experience I've ever had.

 

Hi everyone, I can actually post in this thread now, I sent my xps17 back and made the plunge, I ordered this today. I got a 150.00 on account credit and a one yr extension on my warranty that was to be put on my 6th XPS17 but because I am not keeping it, they tossed it over to my new order. I ordered at 3PM MST and it's already in production.

How come these Alienware orders dont mention everything like the XPS's did, like the camera, power dvd software, etc?

Whhaaaattt? This sucks, I ordered the black just because I was told back order on red and from what I was also reading here, so I ordered black but I went with the WiHD. Look at my order above.

Well yesterday my rep told me my laptop had exited the factory but was still showing as in progress on dell website. I rang again today and spoke to someone in the uk to be told it was still in progress. when asked what the delay was he said it was a premium system and waffled on about the dual graphics cards. He was adament that it would arrive 4 or 5 days earlier than my edd of 11/7. I have emailed someone in customer service 3 times without the courtesy of a response.
Has anyone else had the same issues and if so do you have any contact details of someone that can shed some light on where my laptop is at

 

When did you order it? People on here have waited over a month for their systems, just take a deep breath and wait man. I got mine 13 days after I ordered it, that seems to be the average if you won't have a red base or WiHD but I'm in Canada, so shipping to here would be quicker than to you I imagine. It's going to show "In Production" until it's in your country on its way to your door.

 

I ordered 15th june so your probably right. its the first laptop ive ordered thats built to order so not use to waiting.

 

I can't believe they have already shipped my m18x. Just ordered 6 days ago and they initially estimated it to be delivered by 7/12

mine was cancelled 3 times now, im on the 4th one.

 

What were the reasons and did they make up for it ? I wouldn't stand for this four times .

 

They won't make up for it if you don't ask for it. I hear tell that they usually upgrade shipping to Next Business Day or something similar for that.

 

Man this sucks. I pretty much wanted exactly what you ordered. Funny thing is too I ordered black just because of the fact that I didn't want to be sitting in 39 day in production world but after thinking about it .............I sent an e-mail to my rep tonight ................asking him to cancel and/or reorder another system exactly the same as I did 2 days ago, but in red. I KNOW it will bother me every time I see the black case when I REALLY wanted RED!!!! I can just send back the color I don't want.

 

This may have been asked hundreds of times, and I'm sorry if it has. But I was just wondering at what point in your order cycle is it supposed to change from Work in Progress to In Production.

I'm just asking because mine seems to have been Work in Progress for a long time now and I'm am only 1 week away from the EDD. It may be easier to answer from how long before the EDD it should change (1 week/couple of days etc)

Mine was cancelled yesterday and reordered again after 40 days in production.
I will probably not have time to get it because i move to a diff. country in 20 days. I might just grab a used one from a friend (5150Joker) and cancel that order i got.

First they BS me for 40 days about parts on backorder and now this. Couldn't they freaking realized that the P/N for the OS is wrong 30 days ago ?!

 

Agghh, I voluntarily cancelled this morning. I slept on it and I want and ordered RED!!!

Hi group. If you have an order in at Dell I have an important notice to tell you. Anyone who currently has a M18x order in and has the soundblaster option ordered is affected.

As I said earlier I called my rep to change from black to red. Well good thing I did cause my rep ended up finding out that effective Monday the soundblaster option will no longer be available in Canada and all the current orders that have that as an option will go to cancelled status on Monday. Is it true? I don't know but this is what I'm being told. So due to going from black to red i found this info out and my edd went from July 22 to the 18th. We will see if it actually happens though lol.

I can't imagine why they would discontinue something in only one country?

this is the 4th time ive had to replace my order. if this gets cancelled again because of Dell, im done.

 

Did they tell you what the first THREE times were?

 

the first time was an agent accidently cancelled the order. the second time, they dont have a reason. the third time, the windows sku for SP0 reached EOL so it had an invald sku.. im on the 4th order now, but it has SB motherboard software.

 

That's exactly what my rep told me today, the soundblaster:

is going EOL on Monday. Whats eol mean? end of line?

LOL, it works again but the sound blaster option is no longer choosable under the sound option so maybe my rep was right.

 

End of Life

 

I just ordered mine 4 days ago! I received my Orion backpack and my TactXMouse yet. But still waiting for my computer in production

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

 

Well I guess there is one advantage to living in Aus, my laptop shipped today, and I should have it on monday

Too bad I can't get an Orion bag here though, Even my Dell rep couldn't get one for me, And the only place I can find overseas says it can take up to 3 months to deliver!

 

God I wish mine was going as smoothly. Ordered on 15th June, has shown in progress since then despite being told firstly it was in production, then it had exited the factory, then to be told it was still in progress and then told it was in production again. still showing as in progress on dell website. i emailed customer service and i got a response 24 hours later with the email address of some csutomer service rep. i have emailed her 3 times with no repsonse whatsoever. i emailed my rep again yesterday who was on day off. an automated response was sent back and gave me the address of his manager. i email his manager to have the email bounce back saying address didnt exist. there was also the following address on the auto repsonse '[email protected]' which i emailed yesterday. no repsonse whatsoever. i emailed my rep again this morning and still no response.

 

just got off the phone to my rep who put me through to someone in production. Apparently the 6970 cf are out of stock . does anyone have a number or email address of someone at Dell Uk who i can get in touch with

 

?? That's the number one item that goes in these things, if they are out of stock it won't be for very long. I'll bet they have another truck load already on the way to the factory.

 

Dell really seems to be struggling with supply issues on many different parts of the laptop. I wonder if Dell is selling more m18x's than they were anticipating.

 

I'm sure they are. The Dell perferred account extends the option to a LOT of people so they can order one.
