M18x Order Status Discussion

My order went through today, and the EDD is the 2nd of next month. Not bad - I hope it's delivered before then. Since the EDD is so early I'm guessing there is good availability of my chosen hardware in Australia

@ trackem1 I hope you have fun with your new laptop! I know the feeling, I paid an extra $1100 for the 680m SLI combination..oh well

What are your new system specs? I could not follow if you got 7970 or 680m.

I'm a good 10 years older than you (we should poll who's the oldest on these forums!! ) and started on a Commodore PET and built a career from there. I'm very lucky to have my hobby be my job! Good luck on your new system!

EDD still 7/24 after two delays and an email threatening to cancel my order if I didn't click a link.

Pinging various Dell reps to see what the delay is results in one getting back to me in 24 to 48 hours (after repeatedly not getting back to me in 24 to 48 hours), and the other gave me this gem (after obviously NOT actually looking at my order status after a second reply): "Seems like the problem is with that, there is a major issue with availability on that card because everybody wants it. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue but you got to be aware that as soon as we have it we will send you computer."

Well, no $#!+, Sherlock.. Can I trade two broken reps in for one good one?

 

Well, if I knew about it 35 years ago, those brain cells are certainly dead now.

I did just dial up Compuserve on my 9600 baud modem and checked to find that was a clever easter egg in Commodore Basic put in by Microsoft. Those were certainly the days!

 

Mine just shipped! EEEEEEEEEEE!!! (jumps up and down like a tween at a Bieber concert)

Est. delivery date is 7/20.

EDIT: My original est. delivery date was 7/23, so I'll be stoked if it shows up early (and in perfect working order ;-) )

 

Awesome! Glad to hear. Time to stare out the front window all day and wait for the FedEx guy.

I'm hoping mine will ship at the end of this week or early next week; it would be good timing.

Talked with my Rep today. My order was approved for a rush build since it had already been placed on 'hold' twice. Also, my order finally passed the phase it had gotten hung up on the past few times.

Problem is rush orders don't update the 'order status' webpage. So my Rep has to call and let me know when it ships. So although my edd is listed as the 27th in actuality it will more than likely come some day before that. Any day. As in no one has any idea and it is a complete mystery. Going to make the next week or so very interesting lol.

 

Try to be patient, I know the anticipation, I am still waiting for my 256 GB HD to arrive, I have my R2 already but haven't even started it as I am going to do a clean install of the OS onto the SSD. Hopefully by Friday will have it in. Then I have to download a few games that I purchased through Steam's sale which ends soon, I picked up the entire Assassins Creed Collection for 34.99, including all of the extra content and Rage for 9.99. Not a bad deal! There are daily sales.

Well I am excited, the 3820qm, 680 sli puppy will be delivered tommorow July 20 it was ordered July 5th. I am relieved

 

I hope mine is delivered that fast, or faster. I keep refreshing the order status page every hour

 

Mine's on a FedEx truck that left Oakland a few hours ago. Should be out for delivery tomorrow. Giggity.

I ordered June 22 still showing production and the customer care staff can't get an eta for me and I emailed my rep he said he would check but couldn't find out anything either

My system is also the 680 sli.

 

Yeah, that's bullsh!t. That's why I cancelled my m18x order. I placed it on June 23rd, it was supposed to be delivered on July 10th, then it was delayed until July 17th, then again delayed until July 24th. Needless to say, I didn't wait around to see if it was gonna show up on the 24th. There is no excuse, in my mind, to have orders placed a week+ later getting shipped out before older orders. They need to get their stuff together, period.

It just so happens that I am getting a better deal on the m17x I just ordered, so that partly restores my happiness in this whole process.

 

Same with me. I ordered on the 23rd and it EDD is 7/24. The manager sent me an email last night and said the issue was finally resolved. Whatever the issue was I have no idea. If it gets pushed out again I am just going to cancel and reorder

Any reps want to look into this? Why are the first ones to order the ones not getting theirs at all?

Order status page tends to be useless. Call the order status line (18004339014) if you are in the US. If it says shipped, and it might say order has shipped on (insert future date) you can track it by entering your order number in FedEx's "track by reference" page.

At least this is how he last three of my systems were done.

 

After calling Dell YET AGAIN, it seems mine is hung up on a specific internal part number:
71T4F GeForce NV13E-G GTX680m kit (Video Card CPCXD + Heatsink KC5GV)

Yet newer orders are shipping first with that same part? Something still seems screwy...

 

I called customer care again I still don't have an eta they said the case is still open but she didn't have an update, my edd was July 13/12 and now I don't even have that as the order status online only shows when I ordered the system with no edd. I am in Canada so the 800 number won't work for me so I have no way of getting any information on my order.

I don't see how newer orders are shipping out with gtx680m sli when the older orders are sitting in limbo

 

Call them back. Ensure that the CURRENTLY SHIPPING 680M part numbers match the part number your order is currently hung up on.

There may have been a part number change - in which case your order will never ever ship. It won't be a matter of a lack of 680M cards - it will be more of a 'that part number no longer exists so it can never be filled.'

This happened to me, so I speak from experience. My Rep managed to cancel my order, then place a new order for what I originally ordered with the correct part numbers. I did not lose my place in the assembly line. Also my rep sent a request for an expedited assembly due to my order being delayed so many times.

 

ok I will do that as it doesn't seem like anyone can give my an updated edd.

Delayed twice and now EDD 7/26/12.

How do I get a sales rep to take a look at my order and help me get my $5500 laptop??

 

Do you guys think there could potentially be problems with our laptops that haven't arrived even though we ordered them on or before June 23? The reason I am concerned is it just seems awfully strange that people ordered after us and have already received them. I feel there could have been issues with the first builds and they had to interchange some of the parts. Not sure of that matters but an thinking to just cancel and reorder and just wait to be safe.

Thoughts?

 

I knew there was good in me refreshing the page every hour! Original EDD was the 2nd. Very good experience so far with my order & the rep that dealt with it. She was very nice and patient

 

It does seem like those of us that order on 6/23 or before are the only ones experiencing the delay issues. I wonder if it has anything to do with the orders that were placed prior to them fixing the power adapter issue... Anyone remember exactly what day it was that they took the option for SLI off for a while?

 

When I ordered mine June 22 it wasn't listed on the Canadian website so I am wondering if the part numbers listed for the nVidia gtx 680m's is listed wrong and this is holding up my system and also it is still showing the 240 adapter.

I got a call from Dell customer care last night that they think it will be shipped out on or before July 23 but he would call me again next week to update me.

 

It does seem that way. Mine was order 6/23 and delay TWICE at which point I cancelled it. Others ordering afterward have been getting them on time. But really, it doesn't matter about power adapters or anything else, if Dell's system is so "rote" that things cannot be changed/fixed on the fly and an error creates a never ending loop of delays because no one's smart enough to **think** and correct something without a computer screen telling them to than Dell is just another "too big to fail", if you know what I mean---a humungaloid corporation that is such a monstrousity that one hand doesn't know what the other is doing and getting to someone who actually helps you and corrects things (not just says that they did or will) is an adventure of epic proportions.

 

Just to confirm my machine did arrive on the 20th, all appears to be fine. The only concern I have is the "popping" noise others have mentioned in the left front corner and a tiny gap in the upper right corner. It is almost as if the lower case part has a very small warp. Otherwise everything seems fine.

so I went ahead and canceled and reordered today. My rep mentioned it was the adapter issue that he believed caused the problem. I just felt reordering was the best option for me and the ship date is August 1 so its not too bad.

 

Ordered on 5-JUL and my order shipped 18-JUL. Arrived in Calgary 20-JUL.

The sad part is I'll be away for a week and nobody will be home for the delivery.

 

Just had notification mine is due for delivery tomorrow :wink:

I just spoke with my rep again he said the delay was the mouse pad REALLY but he did say it would ship today and that he was sending out the 330 watt ac adapter so that I could have it when my system finally gets here so we will see if he follows through on all of this.

 

w00t! I just got a status update that mine has shipped! Should be here tomorrow (the 24th). To note, they knocked this think out quickly. I ordered it on 7/16 and they gave me an initial EDD of 7/27. I can't wait to get my hands on this thing...

 

Ordered 7/17, FedEx has it for delivery tomorrow. Can't wait for my new 680-SLI baby!

 

Wow that was very fast. I ordered on the 18th and mine still says production complete. EDD 31st which is still fast but I'm very inpatient

 

Mine just shipped out today, and should be here Wednesday. Tomorrow is going to be a looooong day.

 

Ordered June 23 and still waiting. EDD set for third time tomorrow and still "In Production". Rep and his supervisor has been unresponsive and not given me acceptable options to resolve the situation.

Ouch, I'm starting to think there was an error in the internal system, perhaps pertaining to part IDs. I really hope your system ships soon.

If you need a different USA rep or anything, I worked with a couple of good ones.

I see that you got the 4 years complete car. Does Dell only offer that in the UK? I could only choose the 3 year option
