Should be with me any time now ! Getting it delivered to work , that way I will be available to sign for it ! Pics and benchies when I inspect it and set it up !

The 4 years care is available when you speak to the rep and it appears it is not a config option on the website , so just ask

I told my rep that I would give him 2 more days if it doesn't ship then I will cancel and I may reorder. He said it was supposed to ship yesterday but I haven't seen any change in the order status.

I asked my rep again about the ac adapter mine is showing the 240 watt he said tech support told him the system would work with the 240 adapter but from what I read on here you need the 330 watt adapter.

Same here. Ordered June 23 and waiting. I made lots of calls. The case manager (now) said that they're waiting for the palm-rest and touch-pad... just unbelievable.

TommydCat, if you haven't already, call and demand for a substantial price revision. If a rep/manager is unresponsive call again and talk to someone else. First, ask the rep what he/she can do for you (probably will give you a 50$ discount and free next day shipping). Then ask to chat with the manager. Be polite but show your discontent about how bad you've been treated and left hanging. I did so and got a further 2 and then 300$ discount on the final price. Then you ask them to send you an email (while on the phone that confirms the final discounted price -- free shipping + 50$ + 200/300$). Although it feels useless to be getting a discount on a product that it seems we will never receive. I'll give them a few more days, if I don't see any change in the status I'll cancel the order and with that money I'm going to buy myself a trip to Hawaii or to Amsterdam... or maybe both :-/

I did just send a final ultimatum, that the current supervisor I'm talking to puts in a new order with expedited shipping date, offers some sort of discount/cluepon/gift card for consideration for the month of non-responsive, already caught lying reps stating similar claims to parts delays (while newly ordered laptops with the SAME configuration ordered two weeks later are already delivered), escalate to someone who can fulfill the order, or cancel altogether.

With the way I've been strung along so far, I'm not seeing Alienware in my stable any time soon, and unfortunately it is through no fault of the actual product itself. I just want my laptop and be cool like the rest of the kids, but the collective sales rep organization is making it impossible. This makes me a very sad panda...

After ordering on 6/23 I was told that my M18x finally went into production on 7/21... However, today I received yet another week long delay notice and my new EDD is now 7/31. I still haven't received an actual answer as to what's going on with the power supply either. I have to "wait and see" whether or not the 240w will ship with my order and if it does I then have to contact Dell/AW and wait longer for them to ship me the 330w PSU. This order has been a disaster >_<

w00t! Got mine today and I'm writing this post from it now. =) I did an unboxing video that I'm uploading to YouTube right now. I still have to take it all apart to add all the stuff I want to add to it (RAM, mSATA, SSD, ODD, etc.), but I'm not even worrying about all that for the moment. First run through, everything's working smoothly! Can't wait to dig in, and to be honest, I can't believe how fast this thing got here. So awesome.

    More soon!

I feel your pain, man. I've had a couple of absolute nightmares happen with Dell in the past (the worst being when I was charged TWICE for a new laptop, which threw my bank account into overdraft to the tune of over $1000), but... if you can grin and bear it, getting the product will make it all totally worth it... most likely. lol. Sorry to hear you're having such trouble, though. That really sucks.

    And now the response:
"Trust me I have done everything possible to get answers and to Escalate your order.
Good news is that the order is Final Stage of production and as per the current Time the order is Estimated to be delivered on Monday 30th July."

just... wow... Exactly like the website has said the previous three dates. That order must be very escalated to be talking to the same guy for a third time as well.

Mine is finally in transit! Who does Dell AU ship with? It's not showing up on the FedEx website. Oh well I'll check again later. Getting very excited! Hopefully we have benchmarks before mine arrives but I will post some anyway.

What did they say was the holdup for your system, my rep told me it was the mousepad I really hope he meant the trackpad/palmrest assembly and not just the mousepad. I was told by customer care that the laptop would ship yesterday or today so far no change in the order status

Finally received my m18x and I have to say I love it. Then after playing with it for 5 minutes I realized that the colors on the right vent weren't working correctly. Then it would display blue when I turned all the other lights off. Very frustrating. So I powered down and removed the battery. That seemed to fix it. Happened twice the first day but not since, so here's hoping! :)

Other than that I just can't get over the speed of the thing - and the screen! The screen looks huge when you're using the laptop. And its heavy. Weighs about as much as a cinder block. Well worth it though. Spent the day installing bits and pieces of my Steam library on it and really couldn't be happier with it.

So if you can handle the completely silly and ridiculous wait times you will be pretty happy with it. Odd order related things: My status did not update to 'shipped,' until a day after it had shipped. My order claimed it would be delivered a day later than the shipping company claimed. The shipping company was right. The funds were not withdrawn until the laptop was on the truck enroute to my door step.

Congratulations, glad you're enjoying your system! If you run into issues again with the lights, I would try a power drain (remove power cord, battery, and hold down power button for about 30 secs).

Oh come on, a cinder block is like 26 - 33 lbs vs the 12 or so for the M18x! :p I should get mine whenever the FedEx guy decides to show up, so we'll see how heavy it really feels. ;) To be honest, I'm not concerned about the weight if it means better build quality.

I have a feeling the shipping notifications has to do with what time it was shipped, and what time they run their updates.

Yes, that's what I was told too -- "the mousepad is in backorder" and bla bla, which he did confuse as touchpad/palmrest. As for today, after ordering it June 23, last night I painfully discovered that it was again delayed to August 31 (every week they systematically postpone it to the next). Yesterday the case manager called me and said that he knew the computer was finally assembled and was on its way from the assembly line to the warehouse. Interesting that this commute between Dell buildings seems will take a week...

I have been very patient with them, tried to understand, and although I demanded and obtained free shipping and a 300$ discount, I have always been polite with whoever I talked to. However, I have almost given up. If the system is not here by Friday I cancel the order and spend the AW money on a vacation in the tropic.

I called my rep again he said my system is now in shuttle status which according to him they are getting everything ready to have it shipped out, he is confident that the system will be shipped by Friday. I told him if it didn't ship on Friday I was going to cancel the order as it has been over a month since I ordered but I can pick something from Dell up to $50.00 to compensate for all the delays, wow what am I going to get with all of that money

I ordered the same day and it never came. After the second delay I canceled and reordered. It is arriving 8/2. I firmly believe the problem was from the wrong adapter (220W) going on the orders with dual 680's SLI. My concern is that it was going to be stuck in a delayed status for a long time.

You may want to consider canceling and reordering. Yes, it will delay a week but at least you will get out of this repetitive hamster wheel.

Plus my new order now states the proper adapter (330w)

I too ordered on 6/23 but yesterday I was told that the 680m was the reason for my delay. Funny since quite a few people here ordered an M18x with SLI 680m's well after me yet received their orders already and I'm still being delayed.

I was told prior to my last delay (7/17) that the computer was being assembled and was almost finished with the "in production" stage but of course I received a notice of delay on 7/17 informing me of another week long delay up until 7/24.

So I waited another week figuring that since it was almost done during the last week it would surely arrive on the 7/24 EDD I was given... I received another delay notice yesterday pushing my order out until 7/31and was assured that my order was in the final stages and should arrive on or before that date... I asked for a price cut but it's been 24 hours without response from my rep.

If that's only what they promise for compensation don't stop at rep level. Let them give you the 50 coupon and also ask for the manager and demand for a more appropriate compensation for the disservice on the order of 200/300 bucks plus free shipping -- if by miracle the computer will ever be shipped that is. But yeah, not delivered by Friday and it's better to cancel the order.

I have thought about cancelling and reordering but I ordered my M18x under the featured promotions and I had a couple other discounts/courtesies applied that I don't want to lose. So I've been hesitant to cancel.

My June 23rd 680M SLI order just shipped. Finally. After 5 weeks. Arriving tomorrow morning. However, I just got to Vegas today (was originally hoping to have that laptop for my conference, ya know) and won't be back until Monday. So much for overnight shipping, eh?

The big question: did they send me a 240W or 330W power supply? :)

That's good it looks like the older orders are shipping out now and yes the big question is will it come with the 240w or the 330w adapter, I am betting it will be the 240w adapter.

During the numerous calls with the manager he said that since the 240 adapter was in the original order it cannot be switched with the correct one, so the computer will be delivered with the wrong adapter (unbeliavable). However, he added that also the correct 330 adapter will be shipped along as well, so because they cannot access their locked-up system and change a part number they'll be sending two adapters instead... wow. In light of the month-long delay, the miscommunication between Dell departments they have shown me during the numerous times I contancted them (reps who contradicted each other and obvlivious managers who out of courtesy called me to say whatever they thought would keep me from cancelling the order), and the wrong adapter case, I have learned that Dell is also a gigantic bureaucratic monster. It is something I can understand considering Dell's size and worldwide reach, although I don't want to justify it.

Just don't ask for it, do demand it. Be polite but resolute, and mention, in case they sound like they forgot, that you have been left hanging, every week receiving the notice of a new delay and not the computer you ordered over a month ago. Stress the fact that for whatever reason (backorder, confusion, issues in the assembly line) you have been victim of disservice and you deserve compensation. They can and they should give you the discount you deserve for waiting so long.

I got a good discount when I ordered my computer so I don't know if they would give me any other discount. My invoice says the 240w adapter so I guess that mine will ship with that one.

Does anyone know if the M18x with 680m Sli work with the 240 watt adapter?

I got mine yesterday. I'm honestly surprised the FedEx guy showed up, usually he's always at least a day late, LOL.

To me, it hardly feels heavier than the M17x R4. It does feel a bit bigger, though. The system feels a bit sturdier and solid, as expected. To me, using the system on your lap feels a bit different because of the massive intakes on the bottom. With the M17x I could position it to where no vents were blocked, but on the M18x all of the real-estate seems to be used up. :p The only things I'm not liking right now is I keep hitting the macro button instead of the ESC key. :p Also, with RAID 0 HDDs the palm rest does feel warm. Though, I plan on swapping them soon, anyway.

I'm not doing a whole lot with the system, as I plan on popping in the SSD and doing a clean install soon. I did download Skyrim to play with it a bit, but migraines are setting me back. I'll try to post up some pics if I get the chance.

If anyone has any questions about the system or anything of that nature, feel free to ask! :)

Sure, I'll do BF3 and Skyrim and try to get them up by the weekend. I plan to start playing BF3 and/or Skyrim tomorrow, anyway. ;)

I don't have Starcraft 2, but I do have Metro 2033, which is one often requested.

Edit: I will probably use MSI Afterburner instead of FRAPS, though.

I decided that I wanted to change my specs and I wanted to ensure that I would receive the proper power supply when my order did actually ship. I also figured that I'd rather shave some money off additional upgrades instead of just taking a solid dollar amount of off my original order.

Thanks, man. What an ordeal, ordered June 23, received today...

By the way, I tried it with the 240v and it's working no problem and performing quite well.

You might try some benchmarks that work the CPU and GPU's to draw maximum power. 240 watts (not 240v) I wouldn't think is enough, and might keep your R2 from running at max performance just due to insufficient power.

Maybe not, but it would be surprising since each 680m supposedly draws near 100w.

Very nice configuration, btw. Almost as nice as mine! ;)

Oh wait, yes, my bad. It's 240v but 330W - the BIOS confirms that as well.

    Thanks :)

After 36 days in production my rep said my system has shipped but being that I am in Canada it will probably be at least another 5 days before I get my system. I asked for an additional discount I am waiting to see what he comes back with.
