M18x Order Status Discussion

Well got a email this morning that it was delayed... I'm going to call and try to find out why but do not know if they will tell me anything .. new edd is the 03/19/13

*Called dell
Dell rep informed me that there is no backorder on any parts and does not know why there is a delay was told he will keep me updated.

 

So tried to track my order via Walsh Western and it has not updated in over 24 hours so i call them .. I have to say they were rude at best saying it will turn up when it turns up and it will be at least 5 days ... So past my EDD not amused

 

I am kinda getting frustrated myself, I ordered my m18x on 2/27, and they initially told me no delays. Then yesterday i called and they said there was some delays, then i get an email this morning that it has shipped, but no tracking info. Contacted dell, and they stated that it has been shipped from the manufacturer, but it hasn't been shipped from dell. What does that mean? They are thoroughly confusing and i don't think they really know what is going on to be honest since they cant give me a straight answer other than it will be there on or before 3/25... *Much rage felt for month long wait for my beast*

 

Well after all of this crap with the backpack. I now have 2 of them. I saw amazon had them in stock so I bought it and used a credit I had. It came today. Then unknowingly to me, I get a email from dell saying that my backpack from dell is delivered. I though it was going to be 3 to 6 weeks. Since they are hard to get I think I will put one of them up on the marketplace for a week.

 

I contacted dell yesterday was told no delays.. It had not shipped yet so I knew better this morning I called but no one can explain why there is a delay .. I hope its not something OS related as that's getting wiped first thing along with the hard drive. Well I have all the parts here bored at looking at them (using my 840 pro as a coaster..) I called yesterday to confirm it was going to be here as I took a vacation day.. Now edd is a week away but I have a feeling it might show up this week...And I probley won't be here to sign for it.. lol

 

Well this is disturbing to say the least, I tried to see what was up today via the online chat. I wasn't told anything more than is on the website. I got an e-mail Sunday saying it had shipped but this info was not reflected on the website. It is still not on the website and the customer support know nothing more than I do. My EDD is 3/14 so I am hopeful it will come on its due date. I am currently waiting in Los Angeles, California.

Would be nice if some of our insider rep types would weigh in?

 

It would make me very happy to know what is actually going on... They already took the money from my bank account... If its being held up or where it currently is and what is the real status would ease my worries and allow me to have someone here the day it comes cannot take no more days off...

 

This is becoming a bad joke, but i am glad i am not the only one at the butt of it.... this beast better be worth all this ring around the Rosie crap. My account has yet to be hit, i hope that your funds aren't stuck in limbo Nycro.

 

I hope not either but all this wait I have decided to buy one more 840 pro .. and try a raid setup I just want to know why the dealy and when I can actually expect it to be here so I can have the wife at home to sign for the item ..

I barley could sleep this weekend thinking I would be able to play with my expensive toy.. $5000 + spent so far! lol (Shes going to kill me!)

 

So EDD of 14/03/13 Rang Dell again to check on the status and they have no clue where it is nor do Walsh Western ... i have a day booked off to sit and wait in for this really not happy how this has been handled , At this point even an email to say we are sorry the order is delayed would be preferable to the complete silence and me having to sit on the phone 15 minutes a time while at work .

 

Well I spoke with a Alienware rep here on NBR (A very helpful rep!) And they were able to tell me about a parts shortage (The hinges and the 3940XM) both came in on 03/08/13 and my order is listed as Shipment Complete (Which I take it means it is over here in the US) It should ship anytime soon. Not sure if it will be here this week or not as I do not know what they do to it once it gets off the plane/boat over here in the US although I do have NBD shipping my EDD still lists the 19th. No ship notice yet!

I'm very happy that the Alienware rep here was able to let me know what was going on as not one dell phone rep nor some other reps I contacted through media links were able to tell me anything.

Garry maybe you can contact the Alienware rep here like I did and they could tell you more. PM Alienware-Luis_Pardo and see if they can help

 

I think EMEA does not fall under there remit ? not 100% sure but as i say I'm annoyed about being left in the dark even the rep who sold to me has yet to reply ... not really giving me alot of faith tbh

 

We don't have access to EMEA tags or other stuff but for some reason I was able to check an order status outside the US, maybe we get lucky and I can get some info for yours

The fact that we can get to someone who will do more than read the same web page we have been staring at forever. Same here has not shipped yet.. for me anyways although thanks to Luis I do know that it is over here somewhere

I also had a Dell executive support person called here tonight .. to assure me it will be here by the 19th no matter what and apologized for the delay not sure what prompted that.. !

Hope everyone gets theirs so we can see some new benches and pictures!

 

Mine is in the same limbo as yours, even though i got a msg that it shipped, apparently that wasn't to me. It has not shipped on the dell site yet. I am curious to know where they originate that they must be shipped to the US. How Dell has managed to lose tracking on a bunch of $4 or $5K computers also has me in a quandry. Oh well as long as it gets here soon..

 

Got a call from Dell 1st thing saying he was going to chase the carrier up and will try to push them for a same day delivery ! Also got an automated email saying it will be delivered tm lol ! Either way today or tomorrow the beast will be in residence :3

 

ordered on March 7th in Canada.. still in production.. ~~ETA is March 21st..

 

OK here's the update: After checking the site again this morning I see my EDD has been changed to 4/19 but this time I got a tracking number and its on a truck already in the neighborhood set to deliver today. The shipping shows Ground UPS and NBD? I don't care that I paid NBD and they sent it ground, w/e if it gets here today I will be jumpin..

Waiting for the UPS truck like a dog waiting for more bacon..... Got Brown?

 

EDD is April 19th?? and they are delivering today? why is that?

I have pretty much lost my excitement on waiting no change for me today I have the 19th listed as my EDD is that what you meant to say? I think the system just updates a week ahead whenever its late. No tracking or shipment notice on my end yet!

I guess im more excited that my other 840 pro will be here tomorrow I hope amazon used some shipping company called prestige that I have never heard of for all my expensive parts but ups for some diapers I ordered (Also got a HyperX usb 3.0 64gb usb stick and a drive enclose for the 500gb drive that comes with the computer!.

Aw man I wish the dell site was like it was last year and before that listed stages when I ordered my XPS l702X it had all these little stages. But going on what Luis thankfully reported mine is ready to ship out dunno why they have not done so yet....????

Yeah it said EDD 3/19 but they sent a tracking number and it was already on a truck to me before i got up today. Hang in there, I must say it is the fastest machine I have ever used.. Just incredible. The bios allows complex overclocking of multiple components, I am off to research settings. I will send pics and bench's as i get them. It is worth the wait...

Well I got a email at midnight last night that I did not notice till this afternoon stating that the computer had shipped! Well order status still lists in production as well as calling dell I was unable to get a tracking number

Tried to track via reference at FedEx and nothing.

I have NBD shipping but I'm going to take a stab at the dark and say it wont be here till Monday or Tuesday...

On one of the front pages to the order status site it says my shipment date is 01/01/0001 !!! lol

I bet they are smacking around the shipper right now, my box had all kids of wierd rerouting stickers on it. There was some snafu in the shipping to be sure, but I hope it comes any second now..

 

Well not sure what this means but calling 1-800-alienware and doing a order status I get that it has shipped on 03/18/2013 (I really want one of these time machines!) I'm guessing that will be the day that it actully ships (Order status page still shows in production)

Tried doing a track by reference but nothing (I thought dell used Fedex for nbd but yours came via the brown truck eh?

Here comes one more last wait of my weekend off! (My wife allready said that if I'm at work and it comes shes opening it !! )

 

call dell again.. they said my computer has shipped.. but dell online status is still in production.

the rep gave my the tracking number... said its gonna be delivered around 20th of march... ))))))))))

My M18x arrived this morning by FedEx. I am pretty excited to start using it this evening once I get off work.

I will say my never show shipped or a tracking number per Dell's website. The only thing I had was a estimate date of delivery of the 15th. It never came off the in production tab on the website to shipped... Strange.

B/W I order the laptop on the 28th of February, so pretty descent turn around.

I also have few goodies to install in it, 32gb ram, SSD to go with the SSD installed and HDD for even more storage.

 

Well unfortunately no update as of yet I'm guessing that it will be here Tuesday .. but until then here is some upgrade pron

Well its here .. but one problem the marco keys are not lighting up!!! They are functioning but not lighting!

 

Uh oh! I assume you've tried changing the lighting in the Command Center? You need to be in basic mode to change the macro keys' color. If that doesn't work, it's probably just the ribbon cable that controls the lighting has come loose. It's an easy fix, so hopefully a tech can come out on Monday and get it fixed up if you don't want to crack open your brand new laptop.

Congrats on the new M18x though! Hope you can get it fixed soon!

 

Well I had to tear it down anyways... Cable is pluged in but upon booting still no marco lights... Could it be a bad keyboard module (The marco keys?) hopefully not MB well.. Should those keys be lit at all times (no os installed yet)

 

If you don't have Windows installed yet they might just need to be turned on with the Command Center. Go ahead and install Windows and get your drivers and CC installed, then see if they light up once you click on them and apply a color. If they don't light up, the macro keys are probably just faulty and need to be replaced. It's probably not the motherboard.

 

Command Centre and OSD should do the trick.....It's always best to do windows updates too before installing CC as it is reliant on .NET stuff being up to date....

 

Great to see you got it, congrats! Those function keys are lit based on the selected macro so the OS would need to be there for handling the lighting. Hurry up and get it benched out
