In that case......I'm happy to wait! £500 saving and a processor upgrade! Worth a 2 month edd!!!!

Just had a panic however as online it showed as order cancelled......but got a call apologising as it was a error on their part, they gave me a new order number.....phew!

AFAIK it only happened with the ivy bridge processors and never before I could be wrong though. Also toon I'm glad you decided to stick with the alienware , though I am not sure the two month EDD is worth it. Hopefully DELL can get you it much sooner

 

Had a call from dell telling me to ignore the edd of 1st July, stated it would be much earlier than that. But I will still keep my mindset on the 1st July then when its early be a nice surprise .

That's probably a smart thing to do. I wonder why they would call you to tell you that anyways. I received an email saying mine won't ship for another week to a week and a half. This of course is after my ship date already moved from the 15th to the 24th.

 

I think it maybe because I ordered over the phone and once the order was placed......they cancelled it by mistake, so re-ordered. I have now had 3 calls in 2 days telling me what is happening...they feel guilty? Or maybe just like my 'Geordie' accent! (you have to be English to know what a Geordie is!)

I would be rather surprised if the reason the were calling was because they felt guilty, but you never know. I just wish they would give me more consistent and accurate information. Keep us posted with what goes on with your order, I am interested to see if yours shows up before mine, because I have a theory.....

well I don't want to be too negative about anything, which is why I didn't. However, since you asked. I think because mine is a new build under a warranty replacement, I think they are trying to stretch it out till the full 21 days time frame they used to steer me away from a new build. The issue I faced at the start of my replacement was that Dell had told me 3 days to find to find a refurbished system. After that had passed, 7 days came up still nothing, but they wanted me to keep waiting. That is when I pushed for a new system, but Dell kept saying 21 days that will be longer. I didn't care as long as there was progress, and I could be kept informed. All that said just to point out that the order was finally placed the ninth and we are now almost 14 days into their quoted 21. So I am thinking especially since I keep getting conflicting information, that they are going to make it take the full 21 days.

It is more likely they are struggling under the demand of current orders and stocking along with their notorious lack of insight into where anything is at any given moment. Hang in there I bet you get sorted soon.

 

had I not been given so many various dates by different people throughout this process I would agree with that. However, given the fact that there has never been a EDD associated with my order under my orders tab in my account with the fact that I only get "verbal" dates through email's and twitter DM's lead me to believe otherwise.

 

Finally have an update:

Ordered on 4/23, EDD 5/22. I get a call yesterday, explaining my order has been delayed with a new EDD of 5/29. I ask what's causing the delay, to which the rep says "there is a shortage of parts."

This order is for a Nebula Red, blu-ray, 680M SLI, and 3840QM (all other options base).

I've waited a month, so I figure another week won't hurt. I don't know if others are experiencing the same. Those blasted 680Ms better be worth it!

 

I think the 18` screens are also in short supply. Mine was ordered 2 days ago and my edd is 1st July! Consider yourself lucky

I am considering both of you lucky since you two actually have dates. Mine should of shipped today according to one rep, then according to a different rep mine ships tomorrow, then another rep tells me it should ship next week. Meanwhile the order status pages lists no EDD. As far as I am concerned mine may never ship.

 

Ordered mine yesterday:

M18x-R2 Red, i7-3740QM, 16gb (2x8gb) 1600mhz Ram, Dual Nvidia 680m 2gb, standard HDD, Killer 1103, Windows 8 pro.

I have a 256GB Samsung 840pro SSD, 750gb Momentus XT and ram when ordered waiting to go into system

 

Congrats! Hopefully your wait will be short! As an update on mine I received an email saying mine was built but no the rep had no idea when it will ship and when ill receive it. Getting anxious

Just got an email from Dell they are waiting on the return label to be created, then my laptop can ship I can not wait to get this tracking number in hand YAY

Well not really.... Something went horribly wrong. I received another email late yesterday saying it won't ship until the 29th instead. I have no clue with what's going on over at there, but someone at dell sent me an insulting 18 dollar gift card and no one knows who.

 

They must have some serious parts issues. Previous orders of mine were delivered within 3 weeks but like I say, my order is 5 weeks away, in total 6 weeks!

Well in my case it is not parts mine is built, they just haven't released it to ship yet. From what I was told the shipping process from the factory is extensive. As for new orders I bet dell is flooded with them because of the sales they have going on and parts probably are an issue.

 

I have an expected delivery date of the 21st June, from Dell UK. Alienware happens to be in Ireland over here.

 

But they are not shipped from Ireland? At least my previous orders have always shipped from asia. Ireland is just a 'base'. Unless things have changed in the last year?

Before Dell owned Alienware they used to be made in Ireland. Shows how long I have spent in the Mac world.

mine m18x with 680m sli due for delivery on or before 28'th June , as the status page says. If I go configure new order with 680m sli, it estimates 26th June now. So It may be that it will get to us sooner than later.

All I hope it arrives with zero faults or imperfections

My M18x-R2, due June 21st with 2x 680m's. Again the 680m cards are the reason for the delays.

Supervisor told me the demand for them has increased since the emergence of the 780m. Obviously people trying to cash in on a good deal

 

I wish Alienware prices would stay the same if I ordered mine today instead of on the 21st of May it would be £167.96 cheaper provided I still got 10% off. Mine is still in pre-production!

This is something Apple just don't do! the price is the price. You might be able to barter a mouse or apple care. Regardless the laptop or system is still the same price no matter where you buy it!

Don't get me wrong I can not wait to get my new Alienware M18xR2, I just hate to feel that I had to give me £ than the next person. Especially When I am spending £3000+.

My most recent Macbook pro cost £3098 with Apple Care... I got that in 6 days!!!! with a RETINA display! Plus there customer service is 2nd to well.....NO ONE!!!! If your going to sell a premium system then act like a premium company!

Dell tend to change offers every 2-4 weeks so you just get the deal at the time and DONT LOOK at any offers after (until yours arrives).

Just one of those things. I got £300 off and free delivery and a extra 7% off. However 3 days before i ordered I could have got a 10% discount instead of 7%.....just the luck of the draw!

And my order edd is 1st July.......so I best not check any offers until after then

And the wait continues!

Order was delayed again, until 6/5. Had to consent to the delay or the order would have been cancelled. At this point I'm really starting to wonder about whether I'm actually getting an R2 or if the order will again be delayed and Dell will deliver an R3. It does seem that the 680Ms are the holdup. Perhaps I could sweet-talk them into a 780M SLI upgrade if my order is delayed past 6/10.

Not mad, not irritated. Dell has been very accommodating thus far. I'm just ready for this beast.

 

very unlikely they will get ya 780m SLI, more likely if they get so short on M18X R2's they just may offer you equiivalent or better option of R3, so best bet hope for that

Update: just saw that the US config site no longer shows a delay for 680M SLI option. Here's to optimistic thinking that they have them in stock!

Okay something weird is happening to my order the computer is set to arrive on time with no delays so far but I also ordered battlefield 3 with it and that has been delayed twice :/ and I talked to a dell rep and they said they haven't even started production but the email says that it is in production :/ these guys need to learn to coordinate with each other and tell the right thing to thecustomer. If anyone can help me that would be amazing

Well, I'm giving up. I've decided to get a laptop from pcspecialist in the UK which will be delivered next week, was getting sick of waiting around with dell to sort out the order and saved £1000 in the process, so not too disappointed. Okay so quick updated the game that was supposed to be delayed till the 6/6/2013 has just been delivered but still so change in the status of the actual laptop. I received a tracking number which seemed to work fine hopefully it will be the same with my computer hopefully I get that 6 days early to

 

as of today checking DELL site 7970m Crossfire is no longer available... wasnt available in last 2 days however... just single 7970m

 

Hopefully that means they will run out of 7970m replacements for me

 

well, I have checked today no matter what graphics card I chose in configuraton wizard it still says 19th June now! thats 9 days sooner than my estimated delivery date (28th)

 

It's a conspiracy to get every their machines before yours

 

Do you think Dell might auto-upgrade all of us, including me ( waiting on a 3k M18X R2 7970m crossfire x, 3740qm, ordered may 14) delayed to June 4th, now June 10th, and there are no m18x r2 outlets laptops either now...

 

I'm starting to wonder as well. I was notified today of the third delay on my order, but no discussion on auto-upgrade. I ordered 4/23 with original EDD 5/22. EDD is now 6/12 for a 3840QM, 680M SLI, blu-ray config. I've already been upgraded to free overnight shipping and a $200 giftcard for the delays, so who knows what will be (hopefully) in the mail soon.

 

My sweet setup just hit my shipping forwarder in the states now, and I should see it Monday!

I'm excited, but I really hope you guys get upgrades to R3s. Good luck!

just updating, If M18X ordered today from DELL ship date would be 3'rd July! thats a whole lot of delays I got to tell yas! My order EDD hasnt changed, still shows as 28th June (max 3 weeks of wait) and may be lucky if it comes before then... Status: pre-production...
