M18x Order Status Discussion

I let him pick my color, I was actually leaning towards black

I think it is a mistake on Dells side..... Both my R1 and R2 took about 2 weeks to get to me

I got the money back in my dad's cc from returning my M17x R3 today, so I decided to order the M18x (FINALLY!) over the internet. I decided to get my laptop shipped to my apartment instead of back home. I placed the order, and 5 minutes later it was cancelled and have to go through a whole entire process. Some rep said they didn't charge my credit card, another rep said it did. Does anyone know if they charge it immidiately? It's a dumb question I know, but if it does and if I have to wait MORE days to order this laptop, i'm going to kill ers.

 

They charge a pre-authorization to ensure you have the funds and then retract the charges. The actual charge on your CC won't appear until the item is shipped.

 

My dad called the cc company, and the money is still there. So I guess I have it solved. Now, I just have to make sure I can ship it to my apartment instead of their house.

 

That pre-authorization could take up to 5 days to come off

 

Well, i called Dell again and they said if they replace my current order, it'll double charge my ing credit card. this is great.

 

Had the same thing happen to me. Ordered on the 5th and on the 6th the bag was in my hands but laptop still says the 30th.

 

Well, I finally bought that college gaming laptop. And now I'm in med school. I'll be doing a little 3D gaming and Blu-Ray since my roommate has a 3D HDTV and the VIZIO XWH200. Ought to last me for the next 3 years. Had to have it shipped to my home in Cali because of the time constraints. I'll be heading to NY for the summer and I'll just have my mom take it with her when she visits (I was discounted on the advanced plan to make up for the differences in taxes). Considered the 6970M but to get it under 3k, had to go with the 460M SLI's. I guess they're a better solution, at least as far as I've researched, for 3D.

Waste of money for you. You won't have any time to enjoy it in med school, trust me. Been there done that.

 

Although I've been kicking a this year (it's so nice to go to a school with less competition and bigger scholarship funds), I'll enjoy it in this last summer vacation of my life. I think it's about time I splurge anyways.

 

Lol 16GB Kingston Hyper X Plug n Play 4x4GB 1866Mhz have been delivered, but M18x is still under production ;( what should I do /sigh.

I tried to call Dell Canada Cust care for a person to tell me the actual status, but it appears the call center is so busy, they are "harvesting calls".

A fancy term used to describe the act of "telling customers they are going to hang up on you because the call times are too long". At least Dell is choosing the people JUST calling to hang up on, rather than the ones that have been waiting for the hour

unfortunately the order status is still IN PRODUCTION on the website, and the automated call order status says "order rec'd April 21"....

 

yeah same here. I ordered at dell.ca at May 3rd and the automated phone told me my order was received on april.

 

Glad I ordered at first week.....Dell Canada changes the discount today....$2199 only gives 16GB 1333mhz ram instead dual 6970m CF with 8GB ram. 8GB ram VS Dual 6970m CF~

 

So when will the firs shipments be sent out ? Has anyone recieved it yet ?

 

By next week some of us will have our systems.

 

I hope to get mine by end of next week. Ordered 5/4 and have a 5/26 EDD

 

I got hosed on my EDD! It looks like my 5/31 date is gonna stick even though I ordered 5/3 as well. :O

 

FWIW, my rep (and Jack's and many others at this point haha) said that there has been a hold up waiting for the cases ( I assume the aluminum parts) that is slowing things down

 

I'm in the same boat ordered 5/3 still in production. Hopefully it comes next week
Will be on vacation week after and will have to hold it at the fedex facility

Only HW I changed from base stock was dual 6970s, blu ray, and the 2920xm cpu. I also got the black case, maybe there is a shortage on red?

 

I got black too and the blu ray, rest of specs are in my sig.

I did get the 7 day shipping though.

 

I got upgraded to next business day for free, that may be why mine pushed up.

Purely a guess, my rep mentioned the cases are in short supply, I was guessing as to if it is red vs black or just all of them

 

I will have the Orion bag, HyperX and a 510 SSD waiting a bit then.

 

They just lowered the build times down from 15 days to...

I find they do this when there are a large number of orders and need to fill them all (extra people on shift). Once it levels out, they will increase it back to 15 days.

 

M18x shipped out tonight! Waiting on the tracking number, can't wait until Monday/Tuesday! Gonna be a loooooonnnnngg weekend!

What's striking though is the weight, 25 lbs

 

Yup, package weighs 2 lbs more than the M17x-R2. I've got M17x-R3 benchmarks and M17x-R2 benchmarks ready to go to compare against this thing. I'll do an unboxing vid on Tuesday and post it up on my youtube channel for those that want one--I personally dislike unboxing vids but some love 'em.
