looks like the screen is tilted so it will seem more grey if not looking at it straight on. The keyboard glare reflection gives it away

hey, i just wanted to double check, this monitor is RGB LED correct...? i didnt see it say in the specs.

edit: i also wanted to compare that to this alienware one. the 23" HD one. would this almost be the same output as the other minus the 1080p screen? the reason the alienware is more appealing bec/ of the 3d ready, 120hz and latency of 3ms (granted, that low of a latency doesnt even matter, but still, lower is faster = better :D) also, is this screen RGB LED? ....sorry for all the questions..

The U2410 is CCFL. 98% of stand alone IPS monitors you will find on the market are CCFL. My colleague at work has a 27'' WLED iMac and when compared to the Dell U2711 which is the same monitor except for CCFL backlight, we actually preferred the Dell with CCFL better in overall. The only RGBLED monitor out on the market, as far as I know, is HP LP2480ZX, and I returned it about a year ago due to dithering. I wasn't very impressed by it. I don't know why people are so obsessed with RGBLED these days.

    Agreed.

Out of the two you linked I would prefer the U2410 for image quality (IPS panel vs TN on the alienware).

NOW, if you are into 3D and have the nvidia card, glasses etc.. to handle it then you may want the alienware one... but not I.

I prefer accurate color representation and reproducibility in colors to my external media (ie.. prints, web etc..) along with good gaming (when I get the chance)

Same, thats why I chose the U2410, it really is a top notch monitor and response times are great too.

Couldnt agree more D. I am more than happy with my U2410. Shame im not as happy with the R2 lol but you know all 'bout that dontcha! - anyways, with that said....the U2410 is fabulous. Yes its is CCFL so it does take a while for it to fully "warm up" compared to LED screens. Example being is that when you first boot, my R2 rgbled is obvioulsy far brighter right away but the U2410 takes a bit of time to get warmed up....

Once its warmed (and it doesnt take long) it more than matches, and beats the R2's rgbled. Colours are definetly more accurate, brightness is as easily as bright...in fact, if you crank it up, it will burn the backs of your eyeballs out - its that bright...if you want it to be.

Fully adjustable, hue, saturation, gain, offset....loads of adjustability. If you go to TFTcentral you can also get some ICC profiles that TFT Central and other users have calibrated and uploaded for you to use.

All in all, a majical monitor. Great images, expensive - maybe....but you get what you pay for.....

Oh...gaming preset too.....reduces lag but that aint an issue anyway....not at 6ms for an IPS panel compared to 12ms for an Apple Cinema Display (crap for gaming lol)

If there is one thing Dell do right, its Ultrasharp monitors. Absolute perfection.

Also on a side note...matte vs glossy is a personal choice i guess. Personally I much prefer matte screens...dont get me wrong, i love the rgbled on my r2 but i hate the reflections and its not always possible to "draw a curtain" - if im outside with it, its a pig....its not the most universal screen ever no matter how good it looks from the right angle. Thats my take on it - no reflections is better for me (then i cant see my own ugly mug lol!)

Hate to go off topic, but while the U2410 is an awesome monitor for its relatively low price tag, however, it is far from the perfect 24''. I'll leave it to [H] for that. :)

NEC 2490wuxi, PA241w, Eizo FS series, just to name a few. I think the Eizos are so far the most easiest on the eyes.
