your lucky! mine dont read and im getting a weird lets freeze up after gaming for a bit.. temps are better than my 6990s by alot.. but internet and movies /blurays are fine.. i get to game for about 2-5 hours before it happens .. also i can run bench marks all day long and my machine never breaks a sweat! so i think its still the drivers.. but the drivers i posted are the best so far..

Launch a separate gadget for each GPU and find each GPU in the drop down. Set one gadget for GPU0 and the other for GPU1. If you select the wrong one from the drop down, you probably will get no readings, or readings that you recognize are not accurate.

Have your tried the AMD 12.4 CAP with 7970M CF yet?

I have no mod powers outside of the Alienware forums, but I have requested that a mod with powers in the NBR Marketplace to do that for you.

We are having lots of issues with the forum software right now. I hope they get is sorted before too long.

If you get an empty thread when you create a new one, trying adding your commentary as the first reply and see if that works. As soon as we discover the empty duplicates, we are deleting them. I've seen a few noobs posting to the empty threads, LOL. When their comments are useful, I have been merging them with the active thread before deleting.

No John I tried everything to make some games work in Xfire but they don't
we can overclock with afterburner but if drivers are not stable there is no point
also with stock drivers I saw a lot of flickering with Dumb drivers is gone

Edit: Just checked the temps for my second card and it frequently stays 5-6 degrees higher then my first card. It never goes past 77 degrees though.

And it's been a while since I've used an ATi card so I'm using this thread to help refresh my memory as to how to tweak drivers, troubleshoot, etc.

I bet if CF works now with Crysis 2, it will have 60fps maxed out.

What about Crysis 1? Can anyone check how it plays in Crossfire?

You say they have same % when enabled, what % are they running at? Close to 100%?

It took so long to get crossfire working right with crysis 2 on my 6970's i don't think I'll hold my breath for driver support for the 7970's on this game , but it is still one of my favorite games.

I'd be hoping for more than 60fps on Crysis2 with 7970m Crossfire working properly....

My 580m Sli machine can crank out 53fps with maxed out settings with a slight gpu OC (see screenshot) and cpu level 3.

but what is your stock run ? a single 7970 pull 47fps on that bench with Dumb drivers and two 7970's pull 46fps :D

You're pressing my memory because that was too long ago, but I think it was maybe a couple of months. Sometimes poor CrossFire support is the fault of the game more than the driver. The majority of games have been better optimized for NVIDIA graphics at the time of release. I think that is mostly because of NVIDIA's level of engagement and influence with the game developers.

yes it brings memories I remember dealing with 6990's but this round don't even matter because a 7970M is insanely fast to run all games at max settings that's why I don't panic anymore if they fix crossfire fine if not is not the end of the world :)

Stock run without gpu OC was the 1st run out of those 3 in my screenie on previous page (49fps).....it wasnt a massive OC to hit 53fps. I'm also running this at a slightly higher res. on my U2410 1920x1200, which might make a little difference too - hadnt benched it at native laptop display resolution.

I imagine when you guys get the drivers sorted, you will smash my fps into the ground!

I agree with you. I have owned alot of different gaming laptops , both nvidia and ati and I don't care about brand name. I just want the chip to work with the games and I personally had less problems with nvidia. It's pretty sad when I have to turn of my $4000 m18x with amd 6990 cards and use my $1500 g74 with a single nvidia gtx 560m to get better gaming experience.

Wait, is this just for Crysis 2?

If so, try checking in game FPS with and without Crossfire to see if it isn't just the benchmark software. Just a thought. Also, what is the latest CAP (catalyst application profile) you guys have installed?

Hope to get started before the end of the month, unless Eurocom says otherwise :/

    Eurocom, and they're taking forever.

    so GTX580M SLI = 54FPS

    HD7970M = 47FPS

    Crossfire HD7970M= ???

you may be right I start the game and getting from 45 to 80 FPS in game maybe the benchmark don't work in crossfire that's all

what about Arkham City I get the same frames in game with on/off crossfire any idea ?

Crossfire was broken when i was trying it on the Crysis 2 benchmark, i did some digging to find out i was not the only one with the issue and i think if i remember correctly you have to disable any kind of Anti Aliasing or Crossfire wont work for the benchmark tool. It was something stupid like that but i think in a certain set of drivers it broke Crossfire and the benchmark tool since people before that could run everything maxxed out with the tool.

So yeah disable AA in the Benchmark tool and Crossfire should work .

You can always compare the numbers to 580 SLI with no AA to balance things out for the time being .

For consistency purposes, I re-ran my Crysis2 Bench but this time with the new 301.42 whql driver and no gpu OC/lvl 3 cpu/ran on laptop display 1920x1080 instead of my external. Exact same settings as your post. More or less exactly the same as your previous results....53fps+

Wow, that's pretty darned amazing consistency between systems. Nearly identical, which makes the data very relevant and reliable.

To Speedy's point, I observe slightly higher FPS while gaming also. I think that is fairly normal and has to do with what you are doing while playing the game... more random, whereas the benchmark is highly structured. I get higher FPS while playing Crysis (1) than I do running when running the Crysis benchmark, too.
