Well, I thought it was a legitimate question, not marking territory or anything like that. I honestly wanted to know what the BGA CPU physics scores are in those hardcore CPU benchmarks.
For the record, I am no longer an Alienware fanboy. They don't offer anything I want any more. So, definitely not a territorial thing, at least as far as I am concerned. Their new machines suck. My older machines are all screwed up now, and 780M SLI does not function properly (severe throttling) unless I use 8 to 10 month old GeForce drivers because of NVIDIA totally botching things up, so it's most definitely not all sunshine and roses over here, LOL. I'm not going to try to defend a brand that's on its way out in terms of providing something overclockers and performance enthusiasts can really sink their teeth into.
So, where can I find your CPU benchmark scores, bro? I'll go look at them wherever you placed them if you don't want to post those results here.Papusan likes this. -
Can get the end model for $5999.99 CAD with 4 year pro warranty or 4710QM + 980M SLI with 4 year pro for $4165.99 CAD.
Supposedly the ship date is Oct 30th, so I expect these systems to really ship out.

I don't plan on overclocking the 18 if it shows up. I just want some good horsepower to play the latest games and not be stuck in my computer room. I have a high end desktop I built that I OC on. This will be my 3rd Alienware laptop. I have had good reliability with them. I had Dell's XPS before that when it was their gaming laptop. I also have an Asus laptop. Anandtech did a good review on the GT80 and the YouTube videos look nice. It has some really unique features. I've never owned anything MSI before though so no real experience there. I expected the Asus to be nice but it seems cheap. It has lasted 5+ years though with no issues.

That seems like too much money but then I saw you were in Canada.

Well before Tax in the US it's: Dell Price$3,737.99 with premium warranty (not Pro, which is better)
Current exchange rate = 4823.57 Canadian Dollar
I'd say I did quite well. I

My entire process has been a nightmare. I ordered an Alienware 17 r3 on august 29th, and not being happy with the EDD of Oct 21st, I changed my order to the AW 18 which I was promised would be delivered on October 5th. For the next 4 weeks, I'd go on dell chat twice a week, and ask why my order was still listed in pre-production, and every time I got "Sir not to worry everything is okay."
A week before the EDD I called and inquired once again, at which point I was told there was technical error, and they would have to cancel the order and I would have to place it again. After doing that they tried to process my payment, but i was given a quote that was $500 more than my original. I was told that "prices change every week, and that's just what happens."
It took me 3 days and talking to many people, before I complained hard enough to get my original price back. Then they wouldn't process my payment STILL, telling me they had to fix the microsoft office they had sent with my original order (instead of just not sending me another copy.)
I was lied to multiple times by multiple dell reps who couldn't be bothered to properly check the information regarding my order, I was ignored for DAYS by the "specialist" assigned to my order, and in the end they tried to get me to pay $500 more. After ALL this, they STILL can't manage to have the laptop ready after 45 days. This is supposed to be a premium product.
This has been such a nightmare of an experience that I've stopped being angry. I'm just numb. I'm not even expecting to ever receive this thing at this point. -
Yeah it's sad. My last two AW 17's and the XPS before that took no more than 7 days to show up at my door.

I finally caved in and called them. Waste of 2 hours. The orders department just told me that "parts are missing" and could not provide any further information. Then I was transferred to Dell technical support who transferred me to Alienware technical support, where I asked for a manager. I was told "just one moment, let me get him for you" and then ended up on hold with orders again. At this point, I just hung up and emailed the exchange rep who has been handling my case. Once again, I heard the same story: "we are suffering parts shortage on the Alienware 18 systems, hopefully the system will start building this coming week". He also submitted an expedite request on my order and said that there would be more information Tuesday hopefully. It'd be nice just to get the machine by the end of the month at this point....
-
Expediting doesn't mean anything really. They say that to everyone. When mine was in pre-production for 17 days I was calling them constantly and it was always a different story as to what was out of stock. I ended up calling the U.S. sales dept. and acted like I wanted to buy a new one since the website still says ships in 7 - 9 business days. He told me he showed nothing out of stock and it should proceed normally. Then I told him my whole story. Come to find out he had been there a number of years and had some tools the Indians didn't. He found out that my order actually got cancelled a week earlier and I wasn't told and my order status page wasn't updated. He investigated my case and then I received a call back about an hour later. They did a reorder and gave me a bunch of money off and it went into production the next morning. Now everytime I call it's a different part out of stock as usual. You can't trust these people. They are lying every time. They just do that to put you off longer and make excuses. So for all I know my order my have been cancelled now and I wouldn't even know it. I'm completely fed up with them.
-
I just got of the phone with Dell again after an 1hr on hold. They gave the parts are on back order response again. I then spoke with person in order modification. He said the GTX 980m cards are on back order with no eta currently. He said he could get me a system shipped in about 8 days with GTX 970m cards instead. I told him I would prefer to wait and he knocked $250 off the price of the system.
-
I got a call from a scammer that said he was from Dell. In a thick Indian accent he said my computer was throwing out errors. I said "wow how can that be, you idiots haven't even sent it to me yet!" When I asked for his callback number he hung up on me. It came in as unknown. I was lmao.

ber: 667144"]Oh I did just that. but either no one would pick up my calls, or the reps would outright REFUSE to tell me who their manager is or transfer me to them. i had two hang up on me claiming there's nothing they can tell me. I'm calling from canada if that made any difference.[/QUOTE]Prob cause the Canada factor...u

Believe me they are full of it. They just make up what they are short on. They really don't know. They have admitted they don't have access to know what part is causing the delay. If you call again now it will be a different part that is out of stock. In the last 30 days they have told me the video card was out of stock, then the outside cover was out of stock, then the video card was out of stock again and then the hard drive was out of stock.

Dell just called me again after I sent an email to my sales guy's manager. He's giving me that Tactx headset and mouse for free. Not sure if they are any good. He said it is finishing up and will ship Monday or Tuesday. I don't believe him but at least I got something else for free besides the $400 off and then the $200 gift card for rewards program.

Mine is a tier 3 also. If they miss one more date I will cancel and order something from xoticpc.

Loooool Alienware is goofing. I don't think anybody has a single one of these "new" Alienware 18s yet, right?
-
I haven't come across one person that has one yet. I think Dell is engaging in false advertising at this point. They are selling systems on their website that they don't have to unknowing individuals and lying to them the whole time. I don't know why considering they don't get paid until they ship.
-
Mine still has EDD of 10/21 for that to happen it needs to ship tomorrow. We will see what happens, but I am not holding out much hope the way things are going for everyone else.
-
I have never personally or seen anyone get a laptop on the date stated in the order status. It's usually early or late.
-
You know, the name of this thread should be changed from AW 18 Order Status, to AW 18 2015 Order Therapy and Support Group...

I'm convinced that the indian reps don't actually know anything about it. all they seem to do when asked for help is go to the order status page and read the information that's I can already look up myself. so i'm just wondering if the laptop did actually ship from asia, or if that's just another ******** answer they're giving out.
-
That's interesting. It won't show shipped until it leaves the main hub in the destination country. For the U.S. that's Memphis, TN.

If it's coming to the U.S. expect a couple of days shipping from Shanghai til it ships from Memphis. Unless your shipment gets chosen at the main hub for the random security scan which can delay it up to another 2 days. If it's true then all of ours should have left Shanghai. We all have very close EDD's. I just don't have the strength to call Dell again.
