    Max in 4 core mode?

Actually....nope, but max for that run for that day. :)
I gained 2 seconds just going 50 mhz faster

I can, but it was crashing and i ran out of time, so just settled on 4.9 for the time being. the ones before it were in the 155 to 156 range.

So what you are saying is you ran at 4.991 ghz for 1024M the whole time of the run without any fluctuations at all? If so, that pretty good. As soon as mine fluctuated i would just end the test.

No the one you just beat was at 5ghz but it did drop :) ill post one that didnt :) i was in outer space on volts on that run

Then i wonder what is wrong then? 4991 is 5 ghz in my book. Very nice indeed.

I'm thinking my max is about 4.945 ghz. And that's sketchy at best. It would get so far and keep crashing, But the numbers were better than the one with the 4.9 ghz. I will have to seriously sit down and see if i can't get it to complete. And these runs here we're no where near the outer limits on volts. Pretty low in fact. Maybe that's what was wrong....hummm

it is the prob it needs a little more but to stay cool still. Ill elaborate... The 5ghz run i did do wont be possible for me no drop and i was way up around 57flex on that i found where i need to be so i improved some. Yeah seems im being met with resistance like that to dropping is a non issue way im running but its heat builds so quick that the watts raise and vid raises on its own all same load same speed and flex so if you can keep cool long enough you should get you 4945 working... I am not sure ill get near your cpuz or your 32m any closer than i did because yours seems to do 5150-5273 better than mine and 5200+ i can seem to do...

Can you do 5 ghz on vantage as well?
And yep, i was far lower than 57 flex as well... Im probably going to have to rethink all that. For when i try the 4.9 ghz vantage runs. (haha yeah right)

As to hat 1 thread in the 5200 to about 5.260 or so..You can run windows. And for it being in single core mode...i was surprised at how fast it ran.

As to 5150 or so...Maybe you need to back off the voltage... maybe.

    Side note:
Do you have your 580m's in yet? And if so...Can you do the 3dmark06 test i asked about earlier? we should be able to pull like 35k in 06, but it bogs down right after the second cpu test And i for the life of me can't figure out why.

No. Because you need to be able to spit the test. If you run with cpu first..then the best is something like 16.2k for gpu test 3/4, but if you don't do cpu test and just run gpu 3/4 you get in the 17k+ range. You lose over 1k points.

    Contrats on a nice score!

Yep, been working, but i''l get your score up there in a few.

Thanks John doubt it will hold first for long ;) your right on my tail or should i say its more like im on your tail as you are ahead in all other benches :)

Okay yeah i thought i wouldn't be able to check with the trial version of 3dmark06. Hmmm seems by what your saying in theory it seems everyone would have that issue but certainly would be interesting to find its specific to Nvidia or not.

Guarantee ill see a 155 - 154 second 1024m run in no time from you lol :)

So read a lot of 580m are dieing on .92v and seems to me if yours has been to 890 core lol and back that it people not keeping cool enough and pushing them anyway. Another thing is one of the driver version 295beta or something has been reported to be locking 3d clocks on all the time and not dropping to lower powerstates on idle... have you noticed anything like that too?

The majority of folks i heard were burning them out running furmark. But they also seem to have a less than steller out the door track record. I got 2 brand new cards and one of those was junk.

No, mine will drop if i leave adaptive in the nv control panel. but i'll test it out a bit more when i get home.

Congrats Zero989 its awesome how far youve been able to push that system :)

I used to have 6970m crossfire not 6990m but could my experience transpose to your cards... i found 822core for me was the point right before instability in the heaviest of games... and was benchable at 840-850 core have you tried higher than 800 i think my 6970m's got to just a bit over half of 27k gpu i couldbe wrong on that might of been a bit lower but just wondering how high you pushed core before... Either way nice score

Currently it's more the money thats holding me back. I think my next system will be a desktop, as the R2 is a champ. I do envy the 2960XM power though, and the 330w PSU though :p

Hopefully they will bring back the RGB. It had such a huge impact and was a huge factor for a lot of people, I don't know why they wouldn't. I think maybe adding that would promote more sales and increase profits over a WLED, though I don't know Dells operating costs and such so it's hard to say, but it really is the best feature of the R2. Especially since your looking at the screen all the time.

Coming from a m17xR2 the WLED screen is ok and is a lot better then some screens but the R2s RGB screen is something I do really miss and the 1920x1200 resolution. Perhaps it was just that no one was making 18.4" RGB lcds and it was more cost effective for them to use WLED. I would love to see a big Super AMOLED screen :) would that be even better than RGB? My thoughts now are The m18x is built so much better and the touchpad area does not feel as cheap anymore etc. That said I miss my R2 as it was my first alienware :)

John thats interesting the difference between runs like that. Only difference being all test or just those two. i haven't played with any of the pay versions so im not sure why. Perhaps inquiring to the 3dmarks website and emailing someone would get a answer it seems like a glitch perhaps certain graphics test are on or off in one scenario over the other even though they are ran the same... a glitch.

my 6970s clocked much better :(. 800 core is the max on one of my 6990s and 1150 memory is the max for one of my 6990s. im not much of a fan for async clocks.

yeah like the power of a single stock GT580 nearly :p and beast of a 2960XM :D
what clocks got you to 34k... must be some fast runs do you use similar clocks to Vantage.
I see 850core and 4980mhz got you just under 34k so i guess similar gpu to vantage perhaps 860core and obviously the 4980mhz is higher than vantage so far. You keep pushing way you have been might have a 4980mhz Vantage too :)

awesome so its a heat issue maybe and the lower mhz was more optimal. Nice gaining points by lower clock speed thats awesome. 4871mhz is great in respects to high load... could be a higher load than Vantage or close to same?
at this point in these benches ive tried ive seen more and more how temp rises and then watts used rises and 120-122 watts constant draw power is near limit and when hitting this and it tries to go above it will drop if it needs over those watts or so. Atleast comparing on same settings from runs ive watched temp being only difference :) it means we always need strategy like your 4870mhz running much better and scoring higher :) could be it wanted to many watts at required volts and the temps for the 4900mhz runs in 3dmark 06
Keep at it seems your onto some nice score :)

What is your flex set at?
And in TS, you can set that to turbo. And make sure the cores setting is set to use more than you are using. 55/55/55/55. You would click on the trl tab to find these settings.

Räy, that happens to me sometimes, too... even without TS. I think you may have to crank up the pri plane and/or flex VID to get the multipliers up to what they are actually set for. Try disabling c states in the BIOS and that may help.

Edit: set your TS to multiplier to "turbo"... it's hard to read your small image, but it looks like you have it set on 46.

Hey, Brother John. Looks like you have been doing a lot of testing and made a number of sweet runs. I'm finally back home from my 3-week trip... worn out, LOL. I've not had much time to hit the threads for the last week or so. I'll have to wait until my next trip before I will have access to AC cooling again, but it was loads of fun while it lasted.

    Here's a Metro2033 run for something a little different.

Thanks. Just been experimenting for the most part.

I had to eat my words on the re paste. I re pasted today and notice a slight drop in temps. So it's safe to say a repaste is still better at the end of the day. :)

Glad you made it home safe and sound. And now you know how much fun having cold without having going out side to get it... :D

I played that game twice, but never really benched it or if i did...i forgot were i stored the scores. I'll have to look around.

The Metro2033 benchmark app is in the installation folder next to the executable for the game.

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\metro 2033\metro2033benchmark.exe"

(One of the few games optimized for better performance with an AMD GPU.)

that one was 49x but i tend to try above and below to like 51x,50x with different baseclocks. 52x and lower 99's baseclock gets me in similar ranges just the same :)

Thought i was the only one that read my benches wrong ;) and posted them lol. I passed out that nigh before benching and though a 5 was a 4 lol.
