Broke 28k GPU finally. Didn't take much effort either, these 580s scale nicely. Might take my m18x outside in the cold to see how far I can go.

Now that's a nice worthy score there Brother joker.

Always best to be ready when going out side...
a bit of advice..
You can run 820 - 850/L/2000
if your cards a good ones. -

SOO close to 29k GPU..ugh! Wish I had a 2960xm to push this thing further.
Very nice..wish I had an extra grand sitting around haha. The 6990 xfire system is loaded with trixx, gpuz, cpuz and vantage. Did a test run with 103.8 bclk and 840/1140 and scored 24k vantage and 25k gpu. Slower than the 580M setup but not by too much.Attached Files:

Broke 29k GPU! Opened the windows in my room to let the cool breeze in. Girlfriend walked in and was like "what are you doing its freezing in here!" lol!!
Edit: replaced first pic in this post with another more recent score. 30k is getting closer!! John, how about a Vantage GPU score category? For us CPU handicapped people?Attached Files:

After looking over your score...It looks like you listen to me.. -
Attached is my AMD 6990m xfire score, this is the best it can get for now. I'll make a video of both running side-by-side in a few minutes. Should I set everything to default or max both out and record it? Also, do you guys want quality on default or optimized for performance? Not sure if seeing image quality difference is important or performance.

All you had to do was click on my sig to see what you can run
And looking at that last score...You would be sitting around 31k gpu with an decent over clocked 2960/2920xm
Maxed out. Any one can run a a dual stock setup, but running them over clocked is a bit more challenging. -
I checked out the first page w/the scoresGotta resist..the temptation of a 2960xm! Although I do want a double heatpipe cpu sink. For the AMD vs nVidia video, what about image qualtiy? Default or performance?
-
Im trying to stay on top of that. I may add a section for non extreme cpu/gpu section. Trying to see how much work it's going to be.
Performance -
Ok 6990m xfire vs 580M SLi in vantage:

Nice benching going on here BROthers!
Brother Johnksss, DR tells us that you were the KING of Folding a few months back. Come and JOIN the new NBR folding team! We're closing in on the top 5K team Ranking!
Just over a week of Folding and we are moving along nicely!
Now all we need to do is recruit all of you to join our other Brother DR's Folding NBR team!
Links and info in my SIG!
580M GPU systems are especiallywelcome! CUDA FTW!
Cheers. -
Yea John, That systems gotta have some down time for folding!
I think all the benching crew should join! I want to see how quickly a dual 580M system racks up pts. And how a 2960xm does as well.
-
. Do you know I have members in the 20+ millions range. haha
Side note:
Time to up the bar.
What everyone should be getting with 2960xm/2920xm clocked to 45x and gpus clocked to 800/L/900(1800 mem)
This is going to be the standard for you. Now go make it happen!
P30924 With a 31k gpu.

5.265ghz love it nice way to push it John... Sending out lappy tommorow or next day.
-
Now im suspecting that just about 4.9 ghz on all 4 cores is the max these lappies can do. Due to 1.5V being the max. -

John, after I get back from holiday vacations, we oughta have a few OC sessions. I need to re-learn a lot of the CPU stuff and see what advances/discoveries have been made
I still want badly to get 8 thread stable past 4.5 GHz -
Scook you and me both ...
John ... I played for hours last night ... Fricken killing me ... I hit almost every single point possible on flex @ 103.5 45x ... wasen't trying to go all out (your 105.1 45x) ... sort of found a spot where it would pass the tests but multi would drop out ... down to 43 ... then if I increased OR decreased flex from there it would actually decrease the drop out more ... go up a couple or down a couple and multi would start dropping out to 42X ... a little more and 41x ... a little more and I would start BSODing ...
I know the 4.40Ghz is ok (43x 103.5 @ 0 Flex) ... but I am just struggling to hit your freqs on the es chips ... If I can get a 31K CPU ... well ... it would just be sexy ..
Thoughts ? -
for some reason my 580s don't like to overclock much and I can't get past 750Mhz core and 750Mhz memory. It always locks up. I am running the latest beta drivers. Any advice? I am using Nvidia inspector to overclock the GPUs
-
Sure thing Sam.
@shaden
Your gonna need to be far colder than you are for that to happen. And what i found out is the ES chips are 85 to 90 Watts max and 1.3511V That's why your having a hard time getting higher. you need to be in the 100 watt range.
-
Haha I figured something was a miss... could you point me in the right direction to obtain the correct bios for the GPUs. Thank you
-
John Any idea how cold the CPU has to stay ?
I think my top temp was 83C ...
It was not too cold to be sure ... but in a week or so the temps should drop and I can bench in the chill again. -
You have to be below 70C during the run
@killa
you can grab one from here.

3DMark 11: 7909 Accidently closed 3dmark11 after the run so I wasn't able to screenshot it.

You have till after xmas to make a better run..

So guys, is $450 a good deal for a 2920xm (engineering sample) that has a slight white cloud on teh die? I figure I can always sand it off and smooth it out.

A few things though... 3dmark06, you are covering up the screen size. Trixx does not need to be in the picture, that's why gpuz is there. And of course amd ccc tessellation is set to off and not let application decide.
Your result has the following problem(s) and will not be shown for example on leaderboards:
Benchmark tessellation load modified by AMD Catalyst driver, result invalid. Check your video driver settings. (What is this?)
Processor is not recognized (What is this?)
Graphics driver is not approved (What is this?)

Sorry man, I was trying to move everything around to try to get a nice SS lol!
Yeh it seems it's the only way to compete with the Nvidia GPUs atm. Especially in 3d mark 11 or Vantage. Tessellation is done so much better with Nvidia GPUs atm.
I've noticed quite a big difference especially with Mr. Fox and Joker's benches. The comparison scores in Vantage are quite pronounced when the main difference is mainly the GPU and slight CPU clock speed difference. Nvidia is definitely on top in that one!
I would like to try and push for 30k in Vantage though. Although I may need some coaching.
I quickly had a try at 45x Multipliers but it kept BSODing when trying to load up into windows. Will try again another time.
Oh and awesome CPU score!
Back to FOLDING!
I can't wait to get my hands on some 7000M or 600M GPUs.
Cheers. -
We can work on your 45x when your ready..

Dang you got a nice chip John.

Yep, Im gonna add that one to the bench list.
-
This CPU-Z validation thing sucks for me. Any time my multipliers are 34 and I capture 3.5-3.6GHz it fails. Only validates multipliers of 32 and a maximum of 3.3GHz. I'm guessing there is a bug with the i7-2760QM validation. It makes no difference what validation method I use. See attached.

John, I have gotten a little confused regarding the AMD CCC tessellation setting
What is our official stance on its use in benches? (all of them, not just 3DMark11) -
I would like to rule it just like physx, but I don't know. I have some one testing both sides of that now. But for now, it's being accepted. 3dmark11 and 2.5 heaven are the big ones. It's why I didn't add heaven to the list.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Because if it has to be on for 3DMark11 (like PhysX has to be off for Vantage) pretty much all the 3DMark11 entries need to be scrapped haha
