Wow, 28k, nice! Yeah, you need a 2-piped HS and a freezer for the CPU.
-
i can push about 29k if i can get my cpu under control im thinking...
anyone know the part number for the dual heat pipe? -
Sure -HD9NJ
-
Hrm, now I look at that and wonder if I should get a better CPU or hold out for the 2860 ....
-
2860 OEM will be around 600$ and the 2920XM will still tear it apart
Since there's a very slim chance of getting a ES 2960XM, I'd probably stick to the 2920 till Ivy. -
I just improved my 3DMark11 score again, not by much, only 42 points, but still I broke the 7500 point barrier
2630qm @ 105 bclk
6970's @ 855/1250
Drivers 11.6
3DMark11 score: P7533
How did I get the extra 42 points?
This is probably a good advice for all of you running 6970/6990 cards:
Max your fan speeds while benching.
Latest HWiNfO allows your fans to be set at 100% continuously. All your fans, CPU and GPU. GPU and CPU remain much cooler allow a decent extra overclock before loosing stability. At least it did for me, but it does make sense.
I couldn't successfully bench above 845MHz on my 6970's, anything above that and it would crash. I was surprised that after altering the fan speeds to 100% I was able to bench at and extra 10MHz higher. I can now do 855MHz. I tried 860 once but it did crash then, maybe if I try some more.
Try it and lemme know how it turns out for the rest of you.
In meantime I'm happy with my monster score, considering my setup. I'm beating a lot of much better setups here

Nice bench there John. Those are some crazy cards! Your going to make every one insecure! Lol
-
-
thanks dr650se.
question...what is the best super pi score? -
8.8sec is my best for 1m
-
got an 8.4 so far
-
-
45 multi only
hey dr650se:
am3 flies on this damn thing!...lol
283,112 with just cpu over clock. -
Haha wow that's crazy. I never could get over 180k or whatever i had on hwbot. Didn't matter how hard I tried. When its fast am3 is crazy to watch
Now Im hoping to get a replacement. That way i can go head to head with you again john. Lol. We traded some good blows on the 920 front.
Question would you recommend Ati or nvidia? just wondering if NST works on the 18x.
Havent benched green much. May push for nvidia just for resale. -
yes, i was quite surprised buy that!
to bad they dont like running the older benches around here. they are far more fun to watch zip through for speed...haha
working my way on up...
4592 ghz@46 multi
CPU-Z Validator 3.1
probably nvida this round...but the amount of money they want can be staggering to most. but just like the dt version...they are monster over clockers. with the right setup...didnt someone hit like 34k with them already? -
Haha yea. No kidding. I hated watching my frames dip on that. May try again on dice if i get a replacement but it really doesn't even push the cpu much. I like 3DMark03
especially seeing 100+fps on the cpu tests.
-
am3? it's about 90 percent cpu and 10 percent gpu. i thought you knew?
but yeah, i like 03 as well. -
Yea, i know that. Just seemed like no matter how hard i pushed the cpu i always ended around 160k-180k. Id run it at 4ghz and still 170k.

------------------------------------------------------------------
I am getting better results now than I was... Here are my runs this evening:
3DMark11: P7341 - Vantage: P22806 - Heaven: 1866 Compared to last night (3DMark11: 6714 - Vantage: P22383) those are some decent jumps in benchmarks. -
-
I can confirm the Latest HWiNfo works to keep the fans running during benches ...
I ran one today and the fans stayed max, it was pretty great actually. -
-
HWiNFO32 v3.83-1330
-
Thanks, I will give it a shot.
-
Hey, what a total mess this HWiNFO is, with an annoyingly cluttered interface.
Can somebody please post a screenshot or two with what to tweak for the fans. So far I only see monitor readings, not settings. I'm not interested in sitting down and sifting through all the info to try to figure it out right now.
Whomever does it first gets a rep point.
EDIT: AH! Found it. The little icon that looks like a fan but too small to tell what it is. Can I rep myself?
-
Fox, run it, in the main subscreen click sensors, then down at the bottom of the window that opens there will be a little red fan, click that ... should be set
-
Shaden - already found it, but gave you a rep point anyway 'cause you deserve one. Got 'em running full blast, bubba!
38°C - like it. Let's see if I can clock to 850 now...
The extra air flow is chilling the CPU down as well. -
lol thanks fox !
was about to post screens, but then you did ... rep right back at you.
-
no luck - 850 on the GPU core still locks me up and throws a BSOD. It looks like 820 is going to be my ceiling on GPU core clocks. It might be the buggy 11.8 drivers, but at this point I need to probably just be happy that my M18x with still shred most laptops. (I tried 840, 838, 835 and decided enough is enough.)
-
Impressive...) Was your CPU at 4.6Ghz on this run? can you hit 29k+ for the GPU's on vantage?
-
Oooo.. 100% fans... nice, very nice.
Installed 11.8
Been playen Black Op's
Picked up a few FPS I think.
This thing sure is sweet. -
Nice! Is that the gpu limit? I bet on some dice you can do a little further. Sweet score man. Looks like your having fun if
-
cant really do to much right now. not until i get a better heat sink.
and that's a speculation on the 29k gpu...i could be just wishing on star..
dr650se:
not really..for some reason i cant run any ssd's with out this thing stalling for like 1 minute. that shyt is pissing me off big time!
also...nope...i can do like 880/1100 or so.
red line:
nah, it was like 32x i think on all four cores. -
Try running the ssd out of port 1 i.stead of 0. I know the m17x R3 had ssd port 0 issues. Wouldn't Suprise me if the M18x was the same.
-
Right now Im smoking and drinking at a bar patio
Benching the Dell drive? Waste of time lol. Though good starting point. What drivers? I normally create a dedicated benching SSD. The 40gb that you were able to remote into when I was in Iraq. -
i did the m4 was my benching drive...was using it all over the place...but once i put it in the m18x, i get super lag time big time! so i wiped it and redid it again. same nonsense. i thing it's that raid driver but it's becoming a serious bother.
ps:
have a glass of Kool-Aid on me. -
-
watch what it does with heaven benchmark...LOL
-
There easy something about that. Maybe keep it on raid in bay 0? or switch to ahci and keep it in bay0 folks in the owners lounge can government better advice. Nah time defeats the ssd purpose. -
OC'd my 6990m xfire to 820/1020 here's some game benchmarks:
(All Max/highest settings 1920x1080p)
COD Black Ops: Min: 61, Max: 94, Average: 90.144
Crysis 2: Min: 43, Max: 94, Average: 61.222
Starcraft II: Min: 54, Max: 109, Average: 76.589
Witcher 2: Min: 32, Max: 114, Average: 57.378 -
-
Haha yea. Bsod heaven lol. I had to RMA my 40GB. It had like 80hrs and 1k+hours or something insane
-
-
Got the Most I could of the core's and mem 840/1025 was the best I could do. It did give me my best 3DMark 11 and Vantage scores yet (see sig).

Right now, I have a M4 SSD in port 0 and it's hitting 410 read and over 350 write, clearly @ SATA3 speeds.
