Wow, 28k, nice! Yeah, you need a 2-piped HS and a freezer for the CPU.

Hrm, now I look at that and wonder if I should get a better CPU or hold out for the 2860 ....

2860 OEM will be around 600$ and the 2920XM will still tear it apart ;)
Since there's a very slim chance of getting a ES 2960XM, I'd probably stick to the 2920 till Ivy.

I just improved my 3DMark11 score again, not by much, only 42 points, but still I broke the 7500 point barrier :)

    2630qm @ 105 bclk
    6970's @ 855/1250
    Drivers 11.6

    3DMark11 score: P7533

How did I get the extra 42 points?
This is probably a good advice for all of you running 6970/6990 cards:
Max your fan speeds while benching.
Latest HWiNfO allows your fans to be set at 100% continuously. All your fans, CPU and GPU. GPU and CPU remain much cooler allow a decent extra overclock before loosing stability. At least it did for me, but it does make sense.
I couldn't successfully bench above 845MHz on my 6970's, anything above that and it would crash. I was surprised that after altering the fan speeds to 100% I was able to bench at and extra 10MHz higher. I can now do 855MHz. I tried 860 once but it did crash then, maybe if I try some more.

Try it and lemme know how it turns out for the rest of you.

In meantime I'm happy with my monster score, considering my setup. I'm beating a lot of much better setups here :)

That is true because my benches are done either on a cold boot or with a huge fan underneath. I think the A02 is even better for GPU cooling though.

I actually changed nothing in the BIOS from the default settings apart from the bclk... Did you also change the 3D settings in CCC? Everything off and ALL sliders to the left gave me a pretty nice boost.

Haha wow that's crazy. I never could get over 180k or whatever i had on hwbot. Didn't matter how hard I tried. When its fast am3 is crazy to watch :p

Now Im hoping to get a replacement :p. That way i can go head to head with you again john. Lol. We traded some good blows on the 920 front.

Question would you recommend Ati or nvidia? just wondering if NST works on the 18x.

Havent benched green much. May push for nvidia just for resale.

yes, i was quite surprised buy that!

to bad they dont like running the older benches around here. they are far more fun to watch zip through for speed...haha

working my way on up... :)
    4592 ghz@46 multi
    CPU-Z Validator 3.1

probably nvida this round...but the amount of money they want can be staggering to most. but just like the dt version...they are monster over clockers. with the right setup...didnt someone hit like 34k with them already?

Haha yea. No kidding. I hated watching my frames dip on that. May try again on dice if i get a replacement but it really doesn't even push the cpu much. I like 3DMark03 :p especially seeing 100+fps on the cpu tests.

I will try the latest HWiNfO. Thanks for the tip. I tried it a year or so ago with terrible results. You are running the 64bit version, correct? What is the revision number?

Yes, I already have CCC set up that way. It changes my 3DMark11 score by about 200 points doing that.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
I am getting better results now than I was... Here are my runs this evening:

    3DMark11: P7341 - Vantage: P22806 - Heaven: 1866
    [IMG]
Compared to last night (3DMark11: 6714 - Vantage: P22383) those are some decent jumps in benchmarks.

I'm running version 3.83-1330. The 64bit version kept crashing on me though, so I'm running the 32bit version and it works just fine.

It is indeed, good for you, hopefully the fan adjustment can give you an extra edge...

I ran one today and the fans stayed max, it was pretty great actually.

Hey, what a total mess this HWiNFO is, with an annoyingly cluttered interface.

Can somebody please post a screenshot or two with what to tweak for the fans. So far I only see monitor readings, not settings. I'm not interested in sitting down and sifting through all the info to try to figure it out right now.

Whomever does it first gets a rep point. :)

EDIT: AH! Found it. The little icon that looks like a fan but too small to tell what it is. Can I rep myself?

Shaden - already found it, but gave you a rep point anyway 'cause you deserve one. Got 'em running full blast, bubba! :) 38°C - like it. Let's see if I can clock to 850 now...

The extra air flow is chilling the CPU down as well.

:( no luck - 850 on the GPU core still locks me up and throws a BSOD. It looks like 820 is going to be my ceiling on GPU core clocks. It might be the buggy 11.8 drivers, but at this point I need to probably just be happy that my M18x with still shred most laptops. (I tried 840, 838, 835 and decided enough is enough.)

i did the m4 was my benching drive...was using it all over the place...but once i put it in the m18x, i get super lag time big time! so i wiped it and redid it again. same nonsense. i thing it's that raid driver but it's becoming a serious bother.
