i know its obsolete, i'm just trying to determine if my hardware is messed up or not. using the original dell driver, can someone with 3dmark06 just run in crossfie mode and see if they get stutter issues?

Okay, I don't know if it was bugging other people as much as it was me (the whole 2630qm vs 2720qm) so i've done some digging around and i found 2 reviews one with a m17x 2630qm with a GTX460m and anther with a 2720QM.

Now i know that benchmarks dont really show FPS but the results for 3dmark 06 are: 2630qm 14086 points, and 2720qm 14,406 points...

When i receive my M18X ill be able to post almost base benchmarks and FPS because all i upgraded was the gpu's (CF 6970m's)

Just my .02 and i hope i sleep better and not have penny pincher's remorse for not upgrading (cash it tight)

I think something is wrong with my system.

    Result

My best FPS was in the 30s and I was only doing "performance" on the basic edition. For some reason it also shows my RAM at 800mhz. I put in 1600mhz RAM.

    Comments?

Ram is ok its dual channel 800mhz x2 is 1600... ur score seems low though

Edit- check your drivers i compared your results to Zero989 your driver is different your at 8.800.6.1000 and hes at 8.850.6.0

Edit 2- fyi SmoothJ scored a 5664 on stock settings with a 2820qm (200mhz off of your base frequency) so you might not be too far off but if you wanna hit the 7's do a GPU core and memory OC that will do it, and do a cpu oc to put the cherry on the sundae :)

I should have mentioned that I haven't updated to the AMD drivers. I am still using the dell drivers. That should explain some difference.

    CrosseyedKiller:

Thats exactly what I am looking for, I know people love benching, but really no one has done anyway much of a favour with bench scores.

What we need are some in game comparisons of FPS stock 2630 CPU vs 2720, 2820, etc.

I am thinking that there is going to be very little if any difference... should be interesting ... I am waiting til June to order (hoping for new GPUs) but either way I want to see if the CPU upgrade makes any difference in gaming...

I hit 5770 with a 2720qm. Get off the Dell Drivers they are terrible. I am in 11.5aRC3 and Cap2

Zero post how you overclocked both your proc and cards plz.

I'd love to also see what actual fps difference the oc makes as well.

Isn't the 330 watt psu even rated for higher than that. If it is anything like the one they ship with Clevos, you can go up to 370ish wattage without it tripping.

I am sure it can do close to 400W before tripping (at least for short periods of time like benches)

My 240W from my R1 could go to 295W before tripping

Hey Amo! - CAP2 avaialble here: AMD Catalyst Application Profile 11.5 CAP2 download from Guru3D.com

Your beast is landing tomorrow eh? - good stuff!

Doc, CAP (catalyst application profiles) are fixes/enhancements released by AMD for various games to help them run better with the relevant drivers. It is recommended to have the latest CAP installed with the latest driver for best performance....eg...11.5 drivers & 11.5 CAP2.

Think of it like an ever-growing library of "fixes" if you like, but having the latest CAP means that you will have the latest in-game fixes for performance.

Quick question re: gfx drivers. With my current M1730 I gave up on trying to get the latest Nvidia drivers to install and work properly due to some weird restriction they had. In the end just had to stick with Dell's 2 year old ones... I take it such restrictions no longer apply to graphics drivers? If so, is this a Dell change or an ATi thing?

Wow, I'm still impressed with SB. It's in line with a massive overclocked 920XM. This was my top screen capture of the 920xm. My highest was 23.7K but it crashed after pasting into paint :p

Talk about efficiency. I wonder if it was completely unlocked, how far it could really be pushed. I would guess up near 30K on vantage CPU. Definately eager to see more OCing results

Oh, Scook, quick request, could you run wPrime at those stock OCed settings? Should only take 4 min or less :p I'm interested to see where temps settle and where the times would be at. Havn't found anyone that ran it yet.

Adjusting the colour etc via CCC does have a tendancy to cause flickering. Does it with most AMD drivers. Default settings will eliminate this. Or you could try fiddling about with CCC settings to see if you can get a setting that DOESNT cause flickering.
