My latest 3d mark11 score is 7116 @ 850/1150. Is there anything else i can do to try and increase my score besides using trixx to oc my gpu ? I think im about maxed out on oc my gpu. I want to see if i can get close to 8k, 900 pts seems pretty far away.

disable tessellation via control panel and push your cards a little further, maybe 870Mhz? that should break 7.9k for you. your system has potential! both your laptop and greasemonkey should be able to surpass my score.

My 2920xm is awesome...my 6970s however appear to be complete turds for overclocking....trust me, it is a let down

I have new thermal paste en route, I will re-paste and re-pad and then give it another stab.

06/vantage is limited by the CPU, so unless someone has a 2920xm with fully unlocked multipliers (dell limits this for us) everyone will get exact same scores.

3dmark 11 scores increase with cpu AND gpu making it a more challenging experience.

heres the only vantage run ive done so far

heres the only worthwhile 06 run ive done so far

Vantage is not CPU limited......and there will still be plenty of variation in results between 2920xm owners, trust me

I agree, it is the dog's balls. If I had an R2 I'd hold off on upgrading to anything else for another year or two at least. I'm holding off until E3 hits to see if there's anything new coming to the M18x anytime soon. If not, I'm diving in on it and can hopefully snag a decent deal.

i spent most of my time on the wrong overclocking. instead of focusing on my GPU, i went to my CPU. also with the of mother nature

i saw that late. nice, hope you can overtake my score.

Yep, a stock M18x (stock clocks and cooling) can match or beat a HEAVILY overclocked M17x r2 cooled with DICE :D

Yep. Can concurr that my stock M18x is some serious peice of hardware. I posted 3dmark vantage,06 and 11 a few pages back...very similar to yours scook.

And i havent even touched the gpu's or cpu yet....cpu still at level 1 OC default and gpu's at stock clocks!

I wonder if it would bust 30k+ on '06 with tweaked OC's on both.....maybe a bit optimistic but I havent done much OCing yet.....

(note....havent installed the ram in my sig either yet....still using Dell's stock 4gb that it shipped with)

thats normal, i crashed about 7-8 times too until i got the score i wanted :p.

i read in the M17x r3 forums that its not possible to change the core voltage successfully. the cards BSOD @ startup. something to do with the voltage regulator on the cards :(... 1.1v is all we will ever see.
