- you kept THAT quiet Chief!!
Couldnt resist 'eh? - welcome aboard and happy benching fella! -
Hows your beast going? This beast is simply amazing ey!
Whats your best score in Vantage oles?
It's time for you to hit the 8k man!
Whats the max GPU clocks you can set your babies? I've seen those 6970s clocked pretty darn high ey!
Cheers. -

The beast rocks.....havent run any benches for a while as I couldnt seem to push further than what I did although I am sure with a few more tweaks etc, 8k+ would be do-able on my little 6970's lol
Max clocks I had mine at were 855/1200 - only got one run at those but 840/1200 worked like a charm. I have seen Johnksss put out some crazy clocks on his 6990's so you should be set for some real fun mate!
I think my best vantage run was in the region of 24k+ from recollection...will dig it out.... -
Time to smash out the bench! Get your bench on!
Cheers.

Maybe just run it several times and post your best score instead of posting every single one?
-
Some impressive score Cheif, and nice rock solid stable it looks like. I am doing some vantage today, I think my highest GPU score has only been 26K ... but I have the CPU OC'd farther now so I am hoping to break it.
-
True that Scook. Twas a bit overkill wasn't it!
I wanted to sort of portray the journey lol
I couldn't resist.
Hows your benching going Scook?
Cheers. -
Still no where near your 870mhz core clock and that impressive 9k + GPU score!
Now I just need to learn what to change in the BIOS to up the CPU scores a bit more.
Hey Shaden what exactly do you change in the BIOS for the CPU OC?
Exact sections and numbers?
Cheers. -

My benching is on hold until later this week. Have some interview stuff I have to get ready before then.
-
and what are you cooling things down with? -
Yea I can run those in vantage too .... and like I said, I take it in the ac room, close the door (it gets quite cold in there) and then I run Hwinfo to blast the fans at fulll ...
-
Here is a 870 / 1200 Bench but only at 2.6GHz ... \
http://3dmark.com/3dmv/3424114;jses...mv/3424114?key=TjPnMVu6Z2AZVeSmTQsHHuwWScWsEw
I want to get a few more in today, but Hwinfo makes Vantage lock as you click to show results ... really F'n annoying to get through the whole run and then have it lock on you ... so I have yet to sit down with the 3.0GHz and bench ... -
2: don't use manual max fans
3: use the custom auto profile setting
4: set fans between 2k to 4k not 7k - so when it hits 60C your fans are running at about 4k
5: most importantly..you need to right click on the sensor menu and disable ec compal -

I saw a comment from unclewebb that the unlocked M18x bios makes throttle stop more useful. Apparently adjustable TDP for the 2920xm. Has anyone here tried it? Said it makes the cpu "come alive"
It was over at tech inferno. The comment i saw about it was in an m14x bios discussion. Here is a link to the T|I throttlestop discussion forum
ThrottleStop Discussion
didn't read much but you guys May want to research this if you want to continue upping your scores. Its for the 2920xm i think -
You can find the relevant infos about unlocking the BIOS for TDP/TDC modification here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...iental-has-been-unlocked-modded-a03-bios.html
and here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m18x/605380-m18x-a03-bios-modification-infos.html
I am working now on creating a small app that will automate this process and be generic to all Insyde BIOSen. Should be fun times
Also, these mods can benefit non-extreme processors also, just not to the same extent due to the way they are locked. But they still get a small benefit. -

Yes you do scook, but I have no doubt a little research and time will take you to the top

John is a fierce competitor!
And Shaden has some mutant 6990s or something....haha
I enjoy a good challenge -
it's not so much the competition as it is an accomplishment. if it was a strict competition... then no one would know anything what the other bencher was doing nor could the other benchers better their scores.
-
-
Especially some more MUTANT GPU ones
Waiting for Scook to pass his interview and then really get into it!
Waiting to see Shaden run his CPU at 3+ Ghz along with his mutant GPU settings!
+ John looking down from the top of the hill waiting for us to catch up to him eheheheh
OH and not to forget DR!!!
Happy B'day Shaden!

Ok Ok....it is not a competition, and it is just sheer fun.
But we do all want to be #1 -
Nothing better that throwing out a new idea and being crowned king for a bit. Aka straight dice on the gpu's Haha, or dice pot for that matter. Than there was Slv who store some of my gold cups with his 300mv hard mod.
-
you stole a bunch from me because i was to lazy with my g73jh..

I remember turning heads with my QX9300 hanging at 4.16 Ghz hehe....in a chest freezer
Beat the hell out of going eskimo on the front porch in 10f weather -
the good old days....
like when they said the 9800m gtx wasn't any good. and mhooper was praising k&n notebooks....wonder what happen to him and if he got all he wanted out of that deal? -
-
Stole? Haha persevered, Haha, G73 was just not able to hang. Though id love to see if the g73 could have beat my 1024m time. Would have taken a lot. Im tired of benching the R2 but see no need to upgrade and too cheap to buy other hardware.
What was mhooper looking for? -
assuming we get a voltage unlock .... since i have already hit the V limits ...
-
speculation of course.
side note:
he was thinking he was king of the hill with his super secret tricks form k and n. always had something stashed on a flash drive that he couldn't find. unless it was higher than a score i or ewrecked had ran. lol. did allot of bragging about those machines back then, but then they broke down about the time k and n started having financial troubles....then after that...didnt hear from him any more. -
double post..
-
My only gripe with the 9800M GTX was that even though it was the fastest mobile card at the time, it was nearly twice as expensive as the 9800M GT/8800M GTX.
Same problem I had with the latest nVidia mobile high ends. Lucky for me, I got two of them at a kick a** price -
ichime - did you get the 580M SLi setup to work correctly on the R2 yet?
-
Not yet, but I got someone to look into adding sli certification in the R2 bios, which I think is part of the issue... -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Isn't SLI already there from GTX 285m support?
-
-
I think he said something to the effect that 285 SLI did not need certification due to it being a Master/Slave combo vs a Master/Master or atleast he thinks thats how Dell got around the issue. -
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Interesting. I know that my M17x R1 was fine doing master/master with the GTX280m's
-
, though I'm pretty impressed that I can hit 760/1520/1800 with no voltage tuning.
