The beast rocks.....havent run any benches for a while as I couldnt seem to push further than what I did although I am sure with a few more tweaks etc, 8k+ would be do-able on my little 6970's lol

Max clocks I had mine at were 855/1200 - only got one run at those but 840/1200 worked like a charm. I have seen Johnksss put out some crazy clocks on his 6990's so you should be set for some real fun mate!

I think my best vantage run was in the region of 24k+ from recollection...will dig it out....

Some impressive score Cheif, and nice rock solid stable it looks like. I am doing some vantage today, I think my highest GPU score has only been 26K ... but I have the CPU OC'd farther now so I am hoping to break it.

    Thanks Shaden,

Still no where near your 870mhz core clock and that impressive 9k + GPU score!

Now I just need to learn what to change in the BIOS to up the CPU scores a bit more.
Hey Shaden what exactly do you change in the BIOS for the CPU OC?
    Exact sections and numbers?

    Cheers. :)

    1: you need version 3.83 or 3.84
2: don't use manual max fans
3: use the custom auto profile setting
4: set fans between 2k to 4k not 7k - so when it hits 60C your fans are running at about 4k
5: most importantly..you need to right click on the sensor menu and disable ec compal

I saw a comment from unclewebb that the unlocked M18x bios makes throttle stop more useful. Apparently adjustable TDP for the 2920xm. Has anyone here tried it? Said it makes the cpu "come alive"

It was over at tech inferno. The comment i saw about it was in an m14x bios discussion. Here is a link to the T|I throttlestop discussion forum
    ThrottleStop Discussion

didn't read much but you guys May want to research this if you want to continue upping your scores. Its for the 2920xm i think

You can find the relevant infos about unlocking the BIOS for TDP/TDC modification here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...iental-has-been-unlocked-modded-a03-bios.html

    and here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m18x/605380-m18x-a03-bios-modification-infos.html

I am working now on creating a small app that will automate this process and be generic to all Insyde BIOSen. Should be fun times :)

Also, these mods can benefit non-extreme processors also, just not to the same extent due to the way they are locked. But they still get a small benefit.

it's not so much the competition as it is an accomplishment. if it was a strict competition... then no one would know anything what the other bencher was doing nor could the other benchers better their scores.

Stole? Haha persevered, Haha, G73 was just not able to hang. Though id love to see if the g73 could have beat my 1024m time. Would have taken a lot. Im tired of benching the R2 but see no need to upgrade and too cheap to buy other hardware.

    What was mhooper looking for?

remember...you ran dice. when i benched the g73 it was always cool air only. so im guessing that (dry ice) would have really helped it to do a tad bit better... :) speculation of course.

    side note:
he was thinking he was king of the hill with his super secret tricks form k and n. always had something stashed on a flash drive that he couldn't find. unless it was higher than a score i or ewrecked had ran. lol. did allot of bragging about those machines back then, but then they broke down about the time k and n started having financial troubles....then after that...didnt hear from him any more.

I remember those days ;) My only gripe with the 9800M GTX was that even though it was the fastest mobile card at the time, it was nearly twice as expensive as the 9800M GT/8800M GTX.

Same problem I had with the latest nVidia mobile high ends. Lucky for me, I got two of them at a kick a** price :D

I think he said something to the effect that 285 SLI did not need certification due to it being a Master/Slave combo vs a Master/Master or atleast he thinks thats how Dell got around the issue.

Yeah I'm positive it's how they did it and it has to be the same with the Clevo 285M SLi in the X8100. One guy tried installing two 485Ms in his X8100 and also couldn't get SLi to work.

I'm guessing it's because of the nVidia chipset it uses.

Heh, I probably would have traded you both my cards for your 6990Ms if I wasn't committed enough to get SLi working in the R2, and I'm sure you'll be hitting EVGA Superclocked 560Ti numbers once you get your hands on the 580Ms :) , though I'm pretty impressed that I can hit 760/1520/1800 with no voltage tuning.

very nice, yea these things run quite well at OC'd levels without extra cooling or anything but in regular use situations.
