I've run 3DMark11 with the updated drivers and I didn't get any mind blowing improvements but I did see a slight one.

    3DMark11: P6030 (up 9 points)
    Graphics: 5842 (up 14 points)
    Physics: 8773 (up 1 point)
    Combined: 4918 (down 15 points)

I'm at SFO airport on my way to E3 now but I'll get around to running the other benchmarks this week!

Its not low. I would imagine its about right for your system. You are on Dell stock video drivers and others are using AMD reference drivers which outperform the Dell drivers by a good margin. You have a 2720 cpu where as others may have 2820 or 2920 which will help scores a bit but not drastically.

Also, some people have OC'd their gpu's etc or have better cpu's to assist in better scores....this is more than likely the reason you see higher scores....that and the fact that alot of people use AMD drivers instead of Dell's

As a comparison for you, my stock score for the system in my signature is not that much more than yours and im using Dell drivers too atm on this system.

How big is the difference? Maybe you could order from North America and get it for less even after customs. The warranty is international ;)

Edit: Just checked and it's ~30%. You can definitely save some $$$ ordering from abroad.

There is a store on Ebay that will configure a North American spec M18x for you. Granted, you'll still pay the shipping premium, but you may save a few bucks going that route.

Hey guys, looking forward to benching head to head with you. I just put in an order for a pair of 6970M's for my M17x R2. Definately looking to see how the setup may stack up. Definately digging the fact that I get 6970 Crossfire+RGB. Should make for some interesting benches. I know It's no 18x, but I stopped in here since the 18x crossfire setup will be the closest thing I can compare to.

Same here, probably going to be picking up some Dice for it when I really get into it. On a side note, Scook, have you visited HWBot.org recently? I stopped in for the first time today and it looks totally reformatted. I think they changed up the scoring as well because it looks like I dropped from 125pts, down to 45 pts. :(

Yea, makes me less enthusiastic about it. I still need to read up on all this league business, but if it's going to be even more dificult for me to score points, I don't see much use. They should have focused on seperating mobile from desktop, but then again, I'm not running it :p

Quite true. Well my point tab doesn't seem to be working, but it shows in my profile I have a total of 48 pts, but in the team ranking I've contributed 155 pts. Time to do some reading on the leagues. Been thinking of getting into desktop for a while, just no time. Soon hopefully.

no point desktop benching if you care about points

it will just disappoint you haha - competing against sponsored people who get unlimited access to binned parts and supplied dice and ln2

Yea, I was thinking about that, then again, one of the reasons they have seperate leagues. I would be in the enthusisast league, but since I put in some Dice submissions, it bumped me up to OC's League  Then they have the Pro league. Which I'll never be in. World records madatory.

Grrr my m18x won't crack 7k in 3dmark11. :( Whenever i try and OC the BCLK anywhere past 100mhz it won't take it. Not even 10001 in the BIOS. My cards max out at 840/1175. Any higher and it freezes. :( Bah. 6921 is the highest I have achieved.

Also, I need opinions/help. I just received my Cryo LX. I have been running 3dmark11 tests for the last hour or so. 3 with the fans off, 3 with the fans powered by USB on high and 3 with the fans powered by AC power on high. I have seen no difference whatsoever in temps. Literally. Uhh...? Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that the Cryo is 10x more valuable as a stand for the notebook so that the bottom is not suffocating than it is for the fans in it ;)

The fans only really help if you remove the bottom cover completely

Ya I replaced the existing (and pathetically weak) fans

Next I need to build a stand as the bottom of the fans is too close to the table top and therefore chokes the fans. This results in less airflow and more noise

Lol guys guys no fan wars here. haha I had scythes before that's why I said I'd just get those. Looked up the Gentle Typhoons. Hard to find! I found some for $30 so far. :/

On a more thread-related note, does anyone know why my BIOS won't accept any change above 10000 for BCLK? (100.00mhz for those who don't have their m18x yet) I select the change after reboot, both options, and then immediately. Nothing happens with the reboot options, the immediately option just crashes my comp. :/ Even at 10001 BCLK. ARGH

immediately crashes mine too. reboot should work, maybe youre doing something wrong? the system should turn off then turn on. if it turns off then on then off and on, then i believe its not working.

Being a total NOOB to overclocking stuff, I wanted to fool around with this too so I went into my bios, adjusted the bclk to a small fraction above stock (which was 99.80 on mine) to 100.10....selected the "permanent" option and exit and save....system rebooted normally....it didnt carry on to the logon screen....it totally rebooted after i exited and saved.

Ran a benchie (mark11) and yeah, my score went up a bit to just under 6k from my stock run of 5700ish.....bear in mind tho, i havent oc'd the gpu's at all with trixx.....so, im assuming a bclk increase from 99.80 to 100.10 equates to about 250-300 on the mark 11 scale.....

Dont know if thats good or bad....

Also, how safe and how far can you "increase" the bclk in bios? - how do you know when too much is literally too much? - is it just that your system crashes? - can it do permanent damage?

I was thinking of a higher bclk but at this stage, as a noob at OC, I will wait for "expert advice" lol :)

Do those fans just plug right in Scook or do you have to mod something? If the make the Cryo more quiet, I may do it. As it stands I only have it run if I'm gaming, and sometimes benching.
