Rather disheartening, isn't it? Many developers across platforms experience this and end up packing up and moving on to something else. Happened on the PSP scene, the Wii scene, the PS3 scene, ESPECIALLY on the PS Vita Scene, and on the PS4 scene, and I'm sure countless other computing enthusiast environments. Who knows why Prema took his files/site down, maybe because people were profiting off his work and giving him none of the credit or cut of the profits. Unethical either way

Everybody else still reading this: You can find Prema's site here: https://biosmods.wordpress.com/ and here: https://premamod.com/
Don't bug him here (or there..) and don't pester other board members for private files. Patience is a virtue.

Hi guys, I've been posting here http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/step-by-step-980m-install-in-alienware-18.768916/ in my quest to upgrade my alienware 18 to gtx 980ms, I've read loads of forums all over the internet, and this thread too. I understand Prema has practically shut shop with his vBIOS and unfortunatly its the one bit of the puzzle I can't get hold of, I would of send Prema a kindly very gentle PM but I don't seem to be able to PM (maybe something to dowith my lack of posts). I know you guys can't share with me, but in the hope Prema sees this I'm going to be honest here: I am stuck, I really need this vBIOS, if it takes a donation to Prema, or even for me to draw him/her a nice picture or painting I will do, I'm a nice honest guy, I just want to upgrade my computer :) Thanks

In all honesty, I would pass on Prema's vBIOS. Only reason to run it is if you are Benching and trying to beat top scores. The main reason I say skip his vBIOS is because Dell/Alienware dropped the ball when they made the Alienware 18 (Viking). The fan/cooling solution for the secondary card is not sufficient, a lot of people have lost there slave card due to heat issue and that's on a stock vBIOS. Prema's mod is nice but your temps will likely spike and if you don't have extra cooling your going to burn out those cards with his vBIOS imo.

Also, I have his vBIOS but I do not use it. I lost a pair of 980m's because I just could not keep them cool (that was with a cooling mat and keeping my AC at 70 degrees Fahrenheit).

This is in no way knocking Prema or his vBIOS mod, he has been an asset to the community and I appreciate his work.

    TL DR
I suggest sticking with stock vBIOS, Nvidia has drivers that for the most part fix the card for Alienware 18 (Viking) owners.

    hey guys.
So the only option left is to use firmware 1.1.1 ?
I can't get my hands on GTX980M_8GB_MXM_OC_PM_v2 and premamod's website only offers newsletters subscriptions ...
