Nothing against the Titan, but the 179.99 price is actually at the higher end...Amazon itself has never carried it from what I recall.
Everki Titan Ekp120 Carrying Case (Backpack) For 18.4" Notebook Black , Black | Amazon price tracker / tracking, Amazon price history charts, Amazon price watches, Amazon price drop alerts | camelcamelcamel.com

My only hope is I have some 10% off anything at say newegg or some other company carrying this.

Newegg actually has it for 166.99 right now with free 2 day shipping:

So, my Everki Titan backpack arrived like five minutes ago, that was quick... It's big, but not as big as I thought, and seems to be built very well. Hopefully it lasts me a long time for $180.

What is great about the Titan is that it is checkpoint friendly. It sure does look very well built. I love how the straps are "overly built" per the reviewer in that excellent review. I don't regret getting my Vindicator just because I prefer the aesthetics and I don't travel much by plane. However I would say the Titan is a better built backpack and it's a bit more expensive but probably worth the extra cash.

Edit: That review is outstanding. That kid is full of awesome and speaks well and improvises on the fly. You can tell he is an enthusiast gamer by how excited he was reviewing the bag.

You mean Linus Tech Tips? He's no kid anymore...although for a Canadian he's kinda small. He actually has a Canadian Chinese wife, and they have a kid now. He works for NCIX, and is probably one of the better known reviewer out there.

The build quality of the strap is probably similar between the Vindicator vs the Titan, but the Titan has better padded straps. The design of the strap is somehow, awfully similar. Since they both are made in China, I am not surprised if they end up coming from the same factory. Either that or the designer of the Vindicator took some cues from the Titan.

Yes, the Titan is a really nice backpack. And, yes... this is a talented reviewer. I always enjoy his reviews.

The only things I seriously dislike about the Titan (which some people like) is the soft canvas front panel and the straps in front. I don't like the looks of the straps and I prefer the very rigid front panels that have been on the Vindicator, Orion and XPS M1730 backpacks. I prefer backpacks that hold their shape and stand up straight even when they are empty. I am not a fan of the "wilted" look of the softer canvas backpacks. Minus the front straps, when the Titan is fully packed it looks very nice to me.

I really like the orange interior. It makes things harder to lose (easier to see) than having a black interior. That was a really smart move on Everki's part. While I do not like the price, after spending $4,000 to $5,000 on a laptop, spending under $200 on a good backpack hardly seems like a legitimate complaint. Although I do think the price is too steep, it is totally worth it if the Titan is the one you want. I think it is better to spend more on a durable product than saving money on something that does not last and needs to be replaced once or twice because it doesn't hold up well enough.

The only things I don't like about the Vindicator is that it is not checkpoint friendly and it has less padding on the rear panel than the Orion and XPS M1730 backpacks have. The Orion and M1730 backpacks were very nicely padded on back. I am puzzled why it's not checkpoint friendly like the Orion. That's a great feature. Not only is it convenient going through airports, but it also makes the backpack easier to use in some other ways.

got my sleeve today, here is a pic of the AW18 in the sleeve in the laptop pocket of the Targus XL

    2013-09-25 20.36.21.jpg

it's a bit of a tight fit and you sorta have to cram the loose part of the sleeve at the top but it fits :D

edit: I'm not sure why it's so pixelated, might have been a setting on my iPhone 5 or maybe it's not focused but you get the general idea

Titan has a £40 off on Amazon UK! Making it even more tempting as the difference between Titan and Vindicator now is only around 20-30 pounds after discounts.

I am wondering, which of the two is actually a bigger bag?

All right, so I've uploaded several pictures of the AW18 with the Duragadget 18.4 notebook sleeve and the Everki Titan. Hopefully these images will help others answer some the questions I had about how well the AW18 actually fits inside both the sleeve and the backpack back when I started researching several weeks ago.

The images can be found here: https://plus.google.com/photos/101809694401551721049/albums/5930433044148617841

Please don't hesitate to let me know if there's something wrong with the album or if you have any other specific questions, suggestions, requests or concerns.

As many others have reported within this thread, the Duragadget 18.4 notebook sleeve is a perfect fit for the AW18 and even has a little room to spare. Unfortunately if you want to use the Duragadget sleeve, you won't be able to fit the AW18 inside the notebook sleeve of the Everki Titan. However, the AW18 will still fit inside of the bag itself with plenty of protection. The AW18 will also fit inside the Everki Titan's notebook sleeve (again, without the Duragadget sleeve), but it is a little difficult to put the notebook inside the sleeve and just as hard to take it back out. Personally, I won't be putting the AW18 inside the Titan's sleeve. It's just too cumbersome to insert and remove. I find that just placing the AW18 in the Duragadge sleeve and then into the Titan is just as viable and I actually prefer this option.

    I hope this helps!

I've had the Everki Titan for well over a year now and it's held up better than anything else with the exception of my tom bihn bag which have lasted perhaps almost 10 years at this juncture and have no issues. I've stuffed a PS3, controllers, etc alienware m18x r2/PSU and a tablet with no problems asides from the weight.

When I first got the Everki Titan my only real concern was the zipper in the laptop compartment but you can sorta pop that outwards when you slide the laptop in and out and I put the soft cover on my laptop anytime it's in the bag anyway. I paid a lot more than it's currently at and I still think it was worth the money.

The Alienware 18 looks absolutely gigantic, no wonder there's no competition in terms of luggage to haul that thing. It should come with a personal valet or a pack mule.

It's too bad there isn't a vertical brain cell for the M18. I still need a bag and have to see if I can go with a tougher sleeve type thing vs. a totally new backpack than what I have now.

    Thanks for the info.

Yeah their sleeves are really tough I had my vostro 1400 in a tom bihn brain cell and it survived a 6+ foot drop. I dropped that vostro about 2 feet off my bed while in use and it got a crack. I'm the sort that does research and buys the best case/bag/skin to protect the devices I own. If I spent the money on the device I want it protected as long as that protection doesn't make the device unusable.

    Hi

Just wondering, the people that have bought the duragadget 18.4 sleeve, does the zips mark the laptop or are the zips covered on the inside?...

looking to get one for my new m18

    thanks a lot

I tried the Everki Titan with my AW 18 and found the Laptop sleeve was too small.

Eventually found a Toshiba laptop bag built for 17" laptops (!) which fit like a glove.

If you ignore the laptop sleeve, and don't mind the 18 drifting around a bit in the bag, then the Titan might fit OK.

Zipper is covered on the inside, with nothing sharp or abrasive to mar the finish on the laptop. It's a nice sleeve... amazing for the low price they fetch. I think you will really like it.

I managed to pick up my titan in the UK during a silent sale and the price jumped up everywhere after I got it so I was pretty happy.

I like the bag so far, i've not used it a huge amount but it does feel comfortable, of course the ultimate test will be my new system.

For those that already own an Orion M18x backpack and wonder if the Alienware 18 you have on order will fit; or find them reasonably priced and want to buy one for an Alienware 18 that you already own, it fits very nicely. Here are a couple of sample images. The first image shows the fit of the laptop all by itself and the other with it inside of a DuraGadget sleeve.

Thanks for that! I was going to purchase off Newegg but purchased from NCIX instead.

Now I've read threw all these pages but couldn't remember. Did anyone find out if the 18 actually fits in a Vertical Brain Cell? I see on their site they fit the M18x but they do not have the 18 listed at all.

Cheers for the reply! But I already got the Orion ;) Check the date of the post... :p

For people still looking for a bag, but don't want the Everki Titan: Go with the Orion! I own lots of backpacks, including 3 reaaaally expensive ones, but none of them feels the same as the Orion! Orion just feels like a tank. Love every bit of it.

I am using the Duragadget sleeve + the Orion. Now I started "dressing" my AW with Helicopter tape at the corners and the top aluminium cover for scratches-protection.

Well I might be returning the Titan as it sadly it just a tad too small for the 18 to fit comfortably. Each time I zip it up with the 18 inside I risk rubbing the soft touch rubber off of certain areas as the zipper is just too tight against it. I'm pretty disappointed as this is the only "subtle" large backpack that doesn't scream Alienware. I'm a college student and it is not a very great idea to flash that I am carrying around a very expensive notebook so I am not so sure I could go for the Orion or the Vindicator, though they seem like they are the only real options at the moment.

Hey guys im new to the forum here... but im a long time lurker ;) so i have seen that folks using the Orion m17xR4 bag to carry a M18xr2 r8? cuz i need to take my m18xr2 everyday to school :/ ( i knw im dumb) ... and i whent to a local store last morning and i checked the orion 18 bag and i felt that bag is freaking huge for me... why? im 5.7 ft. im a tiny Dude.... with that beast of a bag i will look like a midget . so i thought of avoiding the Orion 18.. but then again the Orion 17 looks as if its the sweet spot when it comes to size :) ( the local store didnt had a orion 17 bag) so guys can you Double confirm me whether this Orion 17 will fit the 18x perfectly , and safely without screwing the laptop ( since im going to carry it everyday) . + will it hold the weight of my lap? ( i have a single 7970m running with a normal size power brick - not the huge crossfire power adapter)

thanks for the link, however I'm looking for something more thin / cloth than neoprene/rubberized... which adds bulk, and a zipper..

I'm finding all kinds of 17" size on ebay, but no luck with 18.. my best bet is to find a pre-owned for sale sometime, or maybe have my wife make one.

Having your wife make one might be the best alternative if you cannot find one. The one for the 17" model will fit an M18xR1/R2, albeit a uncomfortably snug stretched fit. (I have two 17" cloth sleeves purchased from Red Planet and verified they will fit on an M18x.) The 18 dimensions are larger and the 17" won't fit at all. The M18xR1/R2 cloth sleeve will, in fact, fit the new Alienware 18. But, as you have discovered they are almost impossible to find.

    Edit: here are some photos...

Alienware 18 in M18xR1/R2 cloth sleeve... excellent fit (actually a better fit than the M18xR1/R2)
M18xR1/R2 in a sleeve for an M17xR2/R3/R4... extremely tight fit (borderline busting the seams)
The Alienware 18 is roughly an inch wider than the M18xR1/R2, but depth is close to the same.

OK, im on the quest for a better bag, my everki advance laptop bag has failed me, so Im on the hunt for the really good one!

Can anybody tell if this will squeeze m18xR2 inside of itself?

    Blacktop Deluxe 17

Want something with rugged padding at the bottom of the case and soft sides.

Had very similar series bag from Targus for 15.6" and it lasted me over 5 years till m18x came to my use.

Looking at the specs it looks short of 0.5" inch on each side and could be snug fit, since its larger case it may take m18xR2 but im uncertain... has anybody tried this specific one yet to find out?

I have the Titan and it's still a tight fit to me, but it fits at least...Very few backpacks fit these machines unfortunately...The general consensus is the Titan has stronger straps, the airplane security check fold flat thing, and is more expensive than the Alienware 18 backpack I think....Fox can share what the AW backpack is and is well liked by many others as well.

Everki Commuter bag/sleeve is a really great option if you want something really compact and great protection all in one.

Pros: Nice-Tight-Fit, enough room for few iphones and bunch of keys, and other little bits that you can fit in the side pocket
Cons: No shoulder strap option, if fully zipped its a sleve, if want to carry by two handles at the top middle section like a suitcase - need to leave zipper ~10cm open(however there is cover to lap over the laptop once you decide to carry by handles)

otherwise very nice and compact bag.

Hope I helped somewhat even little bit

    EDIT/UPDATE:

Hey Guys, im just wondering which would be the better laptop sleeve for the new Alienware 18? The one above, in Mr. Fox's picture seems great, tried looking for it on amazon, it mention it was for the r2. I just wanted something that wouldnt be a tight fit, but would fit it properly, so that I can throw it into my bag without really worrying about it getting scratched. Any suggestions? Ebay Links would be preferred if possible but are not necessary.

OT: Any new gpu refresh for the Alienware's in the coming month? Planned on getting an Alienware 14.

I have the purple color one. Fits nicely. When traveling I put the laptop into the sleeve, then into the Everki Titan backpack. It doesn't fit into the pouch but it fits in the compartment.

Not sure if anyone has found these cases before however I am also in search from one. Backpacks won't work for me and not into slinging over one shoulder. I need this for work and instead of breaking my back I'd use one of these.. What do you guys think?

I have a Case Logic messenger bag that fits my 18.4-inch Toshiba Qosmio, so maybe it'll fit the M18X somewhat.

What bags or back packs is everyone using for the 18s these days and why. I have a vindicated backpack, orion backpack, and orion messenger bag. Mostly because they were free with purchases. Looking to get a new backpack something compact. What's everyone rocking these days ?

I'm using my Everki Titan EKP120 for the M18x R2 really good backpack I must be carrying over 15 pounds but the straps are spreading that weight so it won't hurt my back so much lol
