I have a Oakley Kitchen sink backpack and can confirm it does not fit into the laptop sleeve.

However, it does fit into the main compartment. I bring my M18x to work in it every day.

Just be sure to use the cover that it came with in the box.

Until I can afford the Orion pack, it's the Oakley for me.

im currently out of town and dont have both with me...its a snug fit in the laptop compartment with plenty of room in the main compartment.

    heres a video as well..
YouTube - ‪Everki Beacon 18" Backpack with Gaming Console Sleeve‬‏

its a great looking back imo...better looking than the orion for sure, but both bags work well for the m18x. i just think the everki looks more professional than the orion.

I like the looks of this bag as well. With the m18x in the laptop compartment, how tight is the fit on the top corners? I think I read somewhere on this forum that there there was not enough cushion/protection on top with the m18x in the laptop compartment.

That looks to be a great fit for the M17x, but I'm still a little weary of how well the M18x will fit. I jumped the gun and bought the backpack anyway and it definitely is very well put together and looks awesome. I still haven't purchased the M18x so I'm debating on whether or not to return the backpack for now and then reorder when I buy it, but I'd love to keep it because I don't think anything else would be able to beat it in looks and build quality.

Any pictures showing how the M18x fits would be greatly appreciated!

I want more space and padding so I ordered the Orion M18x version. Will likely eBay the old one.

Simply, wow    , if it wasn't for the looks of the orion M18x and the fact that i already bought it, this backpack would've been my choice.
Much more practical than the Orion from what i saw in the video and not ugly like most of them out there.

    very nice and cheap too.

    Everki Beacon 18" - 80€/90€

Well, I just tried the Beacon and sadly, I think it's going back to Amazon. The bag itself is very nice but the M18X just barely fits in the main compartment. It's VERY tight and it took me a while to actually get it closed.

This is a pic of the zipper with the bag fully closed. I don't think this is ideal for me. :(

damn, i thought for sure m18x would fit w/ no problems based on bag's compartment specs on their website which is 19.69*14.17*1.38.

i wonder if their advance or lunar bag's would fit m18x?

Dang! That makes me want to cry :( All of the other backpack choices just don't seem very college appropriate, which is what I was going to use the Beacon for. I guess I'll give the Orion a try or maybe the Targus. The Orion would be ok, but I wish it didn't have the alien head on it, it makes it too flashy. The Beacon is very subtle but cool at the same time. It's a shame I'll be sending it back now. :/

That really sucks, is that the 18" model?
I may still get one for my M17x, it's just so well designed (judging by the video above), idk we'll see.

You have to put the front of the laptop on the long zipper side then it fits a bit better......still tight and if you lift the bag up and give it a little shake the laptop settles a bit so the zipper rub is not as bad. but still if you are going to use this every day it will probably rub the finish off your machine ( the front of the machine >.< ) I only take my comp out the house about once a month so i decided it would be fine for me.

Thanks for posting the pics. It's too bad the m18x is such a tight fit in the Everki Beacon. I really liked that bag and was planning on getting one too. But it looks like jamming an m18x in there is gonna abuse the heck out of it.

Something that I really liked about the Everki Beacon was the furry covering in the laptop storage area. That would completely eliminate the possibility of getting scratches while having the laptop inside the backpack. The Orion's material looks like it may create scratches on the shiny plastic covering the front of the M18x and maybe even other areas of it. Does anyone have any insight on how safe the Orion bag's material is when transporting the M18x in it?

Yeah I'd be taking this thing in and out of the bag all the time so the tight fit wasn't ideal for my needs. The bag has some very nice features including the felt lining that AirJordan mentioned as well as the rain cover stored in the bottom compartment.

I might just end up getting an Orion bag which I'm not too thrilled about but at least it's semi-professional looking (minus the Alienware logo).

You could try painting the alien head logo black if it's a concern. It wouldn't stand out against the rest of the bag that way. Most people probably wouldn't notice it.

Received my M18x today and wanted to share some photos of it inside the Dell M17 backpack.

Overall, it fits rather well. The only real area of concern is the bottom edges of the front air intakes. It pushes against the side of the bag slightly but by no means a tight fit. The bag zips up comfortably around the laptop and there is no contact with the zipper.

Comfortable amount of space on the top and bottom too should you want to add some extra padding.

With the M18x inside, there is still room in the front section for the power supply. I personally find it too much weight for my back (I'm a slight build) - a waist strap would do wonders if you needed to carry this for any distance.

I have a Targus Messgenger bag I bought for my M1730 but I'm using it now with the M18X since the 18" Orions are not available in NZ. The fit is snug in the laptop compartment (which is actually really good) and still plenty of space from the top of the bag so away from the zips. Also plenty of room in the front compartment for psu, mouse, cables etc etc. Fwiw, I think it's pretty styley ;-)

I can't seem to find my model online but I'll find out the name of it when I get home from work tonite.

Had to take my M18 out of the bag in Pearson, O'Hare, and JFK, was able to leave it in the bag after some discussion in Heathrow, left it in the bag no problem in DeGaulle, Riyadh, Warsaw, and Dubai.

In my experience so far you probably won't have issues in countries where the airport insecurity personnel have a sufficient command of English to pass a high-school equivalency exam (ie. pretty much anywhere outside the US and Canada).

Have just recently recieved my Oakley AP 3.0 bag in Australia.

It DOES NOT fit in the laptop sleeve compartment. You could fit it in the main compartment but there is metal clips which could damage the top of the m18.

Add this to the first page.

    Cheers

The only place I can find that ships internationally charges $130 for the bag and $161 for the shipping...

Yes, tried Fortnax and HIDEvolution... They are available if money is no object, but I'm not paying over $200USD for something Dell should be making available to all their customers.

I've harassed my rep and also @Alienware via Twitter just to make myself feel better mind you, 'cos nothings likely to happen from the response I've had, ie: none.

next mission to find a wheeled option is to see if this one fits:
Victorinox Swiss Army - TravelGear - Wheeled Companion Tote
along with requesting a custom sleeve from sfbags.com from Gary.
I'm just not convinced yet there is sufficient interior room. Have to head to local travel store to find out(or Macy's).

This one holds promise(comes in 2 versions 1 super expensive leather one and one just expensive):
Both seem nearly perfect perhaps in combination with requesting a custom sleeve from Gary at Need a case or bag for your laptop, tablet, mobile device, or gadget? We've got you covered - WaterField Design - Made in USA. The sleeve that comes with the tumi won't fit(so close yet so far...) The internal compartment looks like it has just enough room for the 17.25in more you need for the m18x.
other horizontal bags I see typically are EXACTLY 17 inches across.
The adv of tipping it vertical - you can actually wheel it down an airline aisle...they are typically exactly 17 inches...
Tall Wheeled International Leather Brief with Laptop Cover - Tumi
Tall Wheeled International Brief with Laptop Cover - Tumi

    update: FAIL

ok ok These are crazy expensive but they don't scream you have an alienware they just scream you have a nice tumi bag which may or may not contain a laptop at all. And if you can afford a m18x odds are you want a put it in a nice bag.

Lastly, I think this bag won't look weird taking it to a lan party or work. Its not really like grabbing an overnight bag. It really is a lawyer like bag for business.

Those Tumi's say they only fit up to a 17 inch laptop. It would be pretty surprising if they fit laptops 1.4 inches longer.

I've personally measured it last night and it looks like 17.5in vertical internally along with sufficient width and depth. So the test will be my m18x which arrives ~July 27th. I'll post back my real findings after I return with the m18x in hand to test it. It looks hopeful based on my initial examination. Tumi's sleeve that comes with it is EXACTLY 17 in wide and when flipped vertically I was observing at least 1/2 inch to spare above it. The reality might come on the cornering effects when I bring in the m18x. I'm crossing my fingers that it won't be impossible to push into the space. The real test might be getting it out of the space but I think the way the bag is formed it would be easy enough to apply pressure to pop it out once in. Again my main priority was finding something with decent wheels, a nice extendable handle, and isn't so huge it goes too far overboard. If this works its going to be almost EXACT and meet my requirements.

I think the other key finding is whether the depth holds up... I think they are significantly understating the depth available in their laptop compartment.

I also have a hunch that the Targus 17” XL Rolling Laptop Case might work. I will also check that out after July 27th and post back. Initial tests using the in store 18.4 in sleeve looked promising. Just waiting for my m18x for final test. Have to say that the Targus looks CHEAP, feels CHEAP but if it works it would be 80% cheaper than a TUMI so to each their own.

    hey,

received the Everki Advanced messenger bag for m18x and i am happy with purchase - High quality, Plenty of pockets, ample room for m18x, plenty of padding, and comfortable shoulder pad.

only 2 cons, wish it could stand on its own and wish alil bit more padding on bottom for laptop.

    overall, an excellent laptop bag.
    plz excuse the background mess.
    hope this helps anyone.
