I just recently upgraded my M9750 (Alienware Area-51) OS from Vista Home to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. The cam does not even show up on device manager only what I think is a generic callout: USB 2.0 Camera
Nothing else is available for update via internet. I am confident the camera originally was called a Bison Cam or something of that sort. I hope someone has any insight or information to share on this issue. I just want to the camera to work again with the new Win 7.

Hello and welcome to NBR, hydrashock40.

You can probably search for a driver based on the Hardware ID. Right click on USB 2.0 Camera in Device Mangager, choose Properties, click on the Details tab and in the drop down list choose Hardware IDs.
Post them here or do a Google search.

Note that if you end up finding a Windows 7 compatible driver, it might not install using it's .exe, in this case you can use the Update driver option in Device Manager and browse to the folder where you extracted the driver.

I used the first link and I was able to download USB2.0 350K WEBCAM. At first I was excited that the driver took, but as soon as I attempt to use it...I get a blinking blue light (which is new). Then the light shuts off.and nothing. At least on my device manager it states there is a driver it works works fine, btw, there is no available driver available online as per the result of the online search. Am I back to square one? But I appreciate the help!

The driver I just recently installed is BisonCam NB Pro. The cam on my lid lights up blue. Which told me it works. But the moment I attempt to use it within skype or any other program that requires a cam...it shuts off. Skype recognizes the cam and lets me go into its settings...but there is nothing to show. The black square where the cam view should be is just that...black with the little blue circle just spinning indefinitely. It seems to me that the cam "comes on" when not needed....and when needed, it shuts off. This is the impression I have. I'm not a computer guy. I just want my cam to work on my Alienware again. Like now, I'm writing this and the blue light is on, implying cam is running. I'm just so confused. I wish Bison would have a home page to go to. Or at the least...Alienware would have a resolution to this. I know I'm not the only one that has upgraded from Vista to Win7 on the m9750. I'd appreciate any help on this issue from anyone.
    Thanks guys in advance!

Why not try a fresh install of Win7? Even an upgrade disc will allow you to do this. I know it means backing-up all files but this is something I do once a year on my Win7 machine, and did every 6 months when I had XP just to keep the OS clean. Installing the OS as an upgrade is messy and something I have always avoided.

Windows 7 & Vista are built on the same Kernel which is why they share the same drivers. It should be possible to get the camera working, and if it does not I would start pointing fingers at the upgrade install.

I just did a fresh re-install of windows 7. NO GO. Everything was backed up. Nothing. Anything else? At this point it seems I am FUBAR for getting my cam to work again on my Alienware. Thanks for trying though!!!!

Just to be sure, when you say fresh you copied all files to an external, formatted the hard drive, installed win7, and then copied the files back manually.

Yes, backed files on external. Re-formatted laptop HD/installed Win 7 Ultimate (again) then copied files over back.

I finally figured out with the help of my brother in law the fix for Bison Cam issues.
I have an m9750 Alienware upgraded from Vista to Win7 Ultimate.

    Follow this link:
Scroll to M9750 Camera Driver 6.32.0.2
download it and navigate to the install file, go to properties, go compatibiity mode, then check Run as Admin, then choose Windows Vista SP2 for the version. Run the file and restart the system.

It will work! It worked on mine! :)
