Quick question, probably been asked before but I'll ask again.

In terms of simple end-user performance, which card is better in the Area-51 m15x, The 8800m GTX or the mobility 3870? Bearing in mind the nVidia driver issues etc.

    Thanks.

Well on paper the 8800GTX wins but in terms of real-world performance, they're pretty much the same.

Even if the 3870 was a slight downgrade, it runs cooler, doesn't have driver issues and will probably last longer.

+1 for the 3870m, in terms of raw power the 8800m gtx wins and on other laptops that get proper driver support it beats out the 3870m. With the Area 51 m15x though you have a whole different story, the 3870m runs cooler and overclocks like a beast in that system getting much better performance than the 8800m gtx.

Right, I'll look into it, thanks for the advice.

EDIT: How would I go about overclocking the GPU if/when I installed it?
