I'm running dual 3870 cards but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly upgrade the drivers. My catalyst control center is acting very strange as well. Its running, according to the task manager, but I cannot view it. I reinstalled it multiple times, nothing, it just sits in the background.

Have you tried downloading 12.4 Catalyst Driver and installing it? You may also have to manually extract the driver files, go to device manager and target the extracted INF files.
