    Im looking to upgrade my M5790 GPU.. Right now it has the X1800 in it. I was looking around and I know its a MXM III type. So I was looking around and for this card ATI Radeon 3870 512MB DDR3 MXM III ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 - Notebookcheck.net Tech

    will it work for my laptop. I went to MXM technical before 3.0 but their sold out of upgradable GPUs

    any ideas would be awesome... thx :)

    I know the HD 3650 (256mb version) works, but i think the memory allocation might be a problem (aka card won't boot or not recognised by bios).

    The question is, will this 512mb version be recognised, i strongly have doubts on that one, it just seems to recent of a card, for a notebook which is quite some time older.

    The odds of it working are extremely slim. Unfortunately, unlike on desktops, the laptop itself has to support the card. So, even if the card would fit and fall within requirements, it probably wouldn't work.

    I'm afraid you're probably out of luck for an upgrade. Best thing to do would be to save up those couple of hundred bucks towards a new laptop in the future.
