HI Alien users, My first post and ive been reading alot here, but getting know where...

    I brought an Alienware Mx17 R1 in 10/24/2008.

Both Graphics cards NVIDIA 9800M-GT 512MB have failed. creating blue screens, black screens, lock-ups and now they are dead.

What can I buy to replace them? I know nothing about heat sinks, gpu's etc.. Can I buy something off the shelf and just plug them in, or is it going to take some soldering, configuring etc..?? Or is my Alienware dead!!

Thankyou to anyone who can point me in the right direction...

You can get them here for example: MXM Store Legacy cards

Also, the old m15x works with the GTX 260m and 280m (MXM 2.1 Type HE), chances are that your system supports it as well.

@inzelux, this guy has a pre Dell lagacy Alienware system. Uses MXM 2.1. The most powerful of which is the 280m or the 3870 (I think).

@OP Perhaps post this in the legacy section, could get more help there :)
