    hi
i have taken a Alienware Area 51 M9750 in px on my old dell xps gen 2

was in full working order 2 days ago and now will not boot up

    the spec is
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7600
    2.60 GHz
    4 GB ram
    320 GB hard drive
    2 SLI Nvidia 512mb 7950GTX
    running windows 7 64bit

The machines powers on: You can hear the cd/dvd drive initialising and various lights like the wireless come on, but there is no hard drive activity and the screen stays black. I'm know the hard drive is ok though as it works in a external drive

i was thinking it maybe one of the 7950's or the motherboard

anyone got any idea's on how i can test any of it

    thanks

I have the same problem, and when i asked around everyone said it was the video card. I haven't gone so far as to buy a replacement. And all other tricks I tried didnt make it any better. It is looking like it could be dead; sorry for your loss :(

Ahh.. I know that smell, fried M9750s. I've had so many :)
If you're lucky, the Slave video card has died but the Master is ok. This fault shows the same blank screen.
Remove the slave card (leaving the master in), then give it another try. It's the card furthest from the CPU.
