    STATS
    Alienware M17
    Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 @ 2.80GHz
    4.00GB RAM
    DirectX 11
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 Crossfire

I'm looking for GPU upgrades. Best possible. I heard I could only upgrade my graphics card in this laptop to the ATI HD 4850 Crossfire.

I would also like to know if it were possible to upgrade my CPU, and my options for this laptop.

Yes 4850 crossfire is the best gpu option for the M17. For CPU u can go with the best dual core being the x9100 and for quad core the QX 9300, but ive heard there have been stuttering problems.

Also guessing its VERY difficult to obtain the AMD ATI Radeon HD 4850 Crossfire. I've been looking all over the net (including eBay) just to get a price, and I can't find a single one!

Yes it is very hard to find them as they only made a certain amount of them released in the m17, and they keept the rest for warranty for those systems.
