Hello all! I have been tinkering with my legacy M17 (not the M17x) and am in need of zfactors .29 bios. I've lost the ISO cd I made with it last year and when trying to download it again every link I can find takes me to the same RapidShare file, which is locked down. It also looks like everyone who was working on modding and flashing their M17's have been absent from the forums for several months at least.

Is there anyone else who can provide me with the ISO for this Bios or maybe an alternate download link? If so I would greatly appreciate it!

    WinRAR download and support: Start

That link will take you to the website where you can download WinRAR for free. There are both 32bit and 64bit versions available. This will allow you to open any .rar file. Everything you need to flash your bios will be located in there. If you want to send me the .rar that would be great!

Hi Julius, here is the link to the M17-R1 B14 original bios and just in case the iso doesn't work out for you, here is the B14 rom with DOS flash utility along with two other w840 modded bioses.

Well you can forget that guide I think since the links zfactor has in it are dead too... I was hoping there would be an ISO in that archive file but it's not. pkkilleru, you have a guide that goes with the files you linked to?

Download rufus to help you create a bootable DOS USB key and you will also need the a Win98 bootdisk image, then you need to run rufus and click on the cdrom button that is next to "create a bootable disk using:" (please refer to this picture) 6177.rufus1_thumb.jpg , the last step is to click start and after the USB key is done you need to copy your bios, flash utility and batch file to the usb drive. I recommend you use short DOS names 5 digits + 3 extension.

hello dear pkkilleru, I have done this procedure:

    1) with rufus I created my usb pen drive with a disk image of Windows 98
    2) Then, I copied the files from the archive zfactor 0:29 in the pen drive
    3) I started the phlash16.exe but it tells me that file is missing bios.wph, and if I start update.bat gives me an error system

    where am I wrong?

    Hi pkkilleru,

1)I prepared with rufus_v1.3.2, my usb pen drive with Win98SE_bootdisk.iso.
2)Then I copy the files that are the "Alienware M17 W840_029 zfactor VT MOD R2" in my pen drive.
3)Start my alienware with the pen drive, it tells me "BOOTMGR is missing".

    Where am I wrong?
    Please help me!

lol, I messed up real bad. I have installed the .29 zfactor bios, but it was an automatic installation and started before I could create a backup dump of the B14... this bios actuallys makes my q9000 score lower in benchmarks. I'm kind of upset. is there anyone still using the B14 that could make a dump of the image? every link is down for that bios file, including the alienware site and all the rapidshare links.

I have been having problems with logging into the alienware support site as well so my guess is the whole "MyHive" is not working at the moment (and hasn't been the past few days or possibly longer). Hopefully they fix it soon if enough complain and you can get back in to download what you need.

Its B14 the latest one available for us? I have been trying to go to My Hive, but I got this error: "Server Error in '/' Application." I have seen this error for around 5 months. I also tried calling Alienware to see if they can fix this, but they say that it have to bee my web browser.
