Does anyone know where I can find a complete service manual for the Alienware M17-R1?

I bought a certified refurb from Alienware and the entire laptop is in excellent condition except for the front right speaker grill/panel, which is dented. I thought maybe I could just take the machine apart and straighten the panel.

Thanks BatBoy. Unfortanatelly I went through and couldn't find it. I probably need to take the panel off somehow (pry or screw, not sure really). I emailed Alienware and will see what they have to say.

The one I bought comes with a little orange cable.. I guess that's the cable for the light, if not, what modd can I do? take off the lights of my current keyboard and connect them to the non- light keyboard? or something like that?

Oh god  I hope the keyboard will not need any mod. Is there a way to know if the keyboard comes with a buid in light? you know, before installing it? I have the part number, acording to the seller, this is the part number:

    DP/N:0H468R

But I can't find any information about it.

    Well, this is the link:
NEW Dell Alienware M17X Spanish Keyboard Teclado Spain - eBay (item 280575668321 end time Nov-14-10 01:22:03 PST)

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280575668321

So you can see in the pictures it comes with the little orange cable, I hope this is a real picture of the keyboard at least it shows the Ñ key which means the keyboard in the picture is actually a spanish keyboard. I will let you know when the keyboard arrives to my house. Thanks for your help !

you know I was watching pictures on eBay from area-51 m17x keyboards and M17x keyboards, and I can't really see any difference, just that the area-51 m17x keyboard seems to look a bit darker, but that could be just an effect of picture. Maybe the only difference is the pin connection. I will be praying to get the right keyboard, I was a bit irresponsible not checking full compatibility before buying the keyboard, but the seller marked the keyboard as "M17X keyboard", I forgot we have:

    1. area 51 m17x
    2. M17x R1
    3. M17x R2

I guess R1 and R2 keyboards are compatible, But many sellers marks their keyboards as "area 51 m17x keyboard". So I don't know :s

EDIT: I think the difference between area 51 m17x keyboard and M17x keyboard is the S key, in M17x the S key has 3 little ponts, I cant see that 3 little points in pictures from area 51 m17x keyboards.

Yes I overclocked my cpu because it were being a bottleneck in Batman AA, Jumped from 36 fps avarage to 44 fps avarage, with only that small overclock, so it worth it.

Here it is 3dmark vantage, with PhysX and PPU disabled.

And here it is Crysis Benchmark tool, I don't know why the avarage fps isn't showing propeerly, but the result is, avarage = 25.54 fps

    second test avarage= 25.39 fps

third test avarage = 25.69 fps

    (25.39+25.69)/2=25.54 .....

But the benchmark is missing the dot.

wow these card are almost identical the vantage score is 2 point from mine (with my cpu oced to almost the same speed)

and the crysis to is 1 fps diferent when i oc the cpu

i can't do a run to compare as my gpu are curently oced so it would not be fair but i'll back them down and oc my cpu to have these side by side to compare

    thanks

Sure, I will be waiting those stock benchmarks. I never tried to overclock the GPU so far no need to do that, I am not exactly a benchmark person .. and most of games run smooth without overclocking the GPU. In the other hand the CPU is a bit slow because not all games support 4 cores, and they take advange of CPU speed.

are the MRHD 4870 and MRHD 4850 the same card? beside the clocks I mean.. something similar with the GTX 280M and the GTX 285M, same core, and same numer of cuda cores (128).. the only difference are memory speeds and core speeds.

Well I am the same waiting for a price drop of the QX9300, AW is selling them on eBay for ~$550, but I don't have any money at the moment. I guess I am going for the CPU upgrade next year, and want to add a bluray reader all at the same time, to not have to disassemble the laptop twice
