UPDATE
All done swapping parts. More RAM, new HDD, faster cpu. The m3200 is up and running very nicely. It boots up XP in roughly 15-20 seconds, compared to the matter of minutes it was before (im sure the virus had something to do with it). As I mentioned before, this was my first time under the hood so a big thanks and +1 rep to cleverpseudonym for all of the help and advise. Here are some new pics of the computer actually functioning! Its a great little netbook now.

Nothing's really replaceable there, that's an old Sentia (Alienware's first try at an ultraportable). It's a fun collection piece though
-
Wipe the HDD and start with a new install of the operating system. Shouldn't be much to it. Maybe add some more RAM while yout at it if you have any laying around.

i just rebuilt sn sold one of these pm me and ill run down the basics of it. i have an extra mother board as well. if it only has a virius, just format the Hdd and re-install XP. i have a Stripped down version of XP pro that uses the Apple OSX shell that ruyns great on that machine. TBH i liked the M3200 ALOT more than this ASUS netbook. i have some 512mb ram sticks to i could get to you. probably some other peices as well. good luck with it i really liked mine

History in your hands.
I would love to find one still put together. Ever since i found out about them i have searched ebay and can only ever find pieces of them.
Its not a very powerful computer but would make a nice little travel linux box -
You know what, I REALLY want one of these. I hopped on Google to find some pics and it looks really cool. If you combined the current AW design with that one it would look incredible.
-
Yeah try to upgrade RAM. It could work as a sort of a netbook style PC, no? What's the battery life?
P.S. Oh and ... PICS please! -
-
were was all the love when i was selling mine in the marketplace!? it will only recognize 2 gigs of ram, i was able to get the m760 for like $30 on ebay. i found a 320gig hdd with the pata ide connection for $75 on fleabay as well. it will use pc2-5300 ram although it downclocks it. that ram is way easy to find. i thik i have a few 1gb sticks still if your interested. battery life while at full power goes for about 3.5-4 hours, im sure if you actually did things to presurve the life of the battery, it would be much longer.

It's the 'little brother' to my m5500!
I was pining for one of those for the longest time, but wound up getting the m5500 instead. What I did with my m5500 is turned it into a Linux machine since the processor is a bit long in the tooth now (I have the Pentium M 2.0Ghz) and it's still a fantastic machine that will last a long time.

Just a bump for one more question. My current Hard drive is ATA/100 can I purchase a larger SATA and replace it with that?

I see on newegg that there are only a couple of IDE-based laptop hard drives-

Im going to have to download all my drivers again huh?Anyone know where to find the driver for the motherboard? or can win XP help me out with that?

One of these little puppies with 2GB ram, 320GB HDD could run windows7 pretty easily and probably get a decent little boost in battery life. -
Might not be easy to find but there were early PATA, aka IDE, SSD drives which would make it a lightning quick little road warrior, you could put the current drive in a portable USB assembly and carry it in your pocket. IDE drives aren't that hard to find though it just takes a bit of searching got a BNIB WD 160Gb for my XPS Gen1 for $79 on the bay.
