I recently purchased an alienware m7700 off ebay, it would only show the power light on with no display on screen. I placed a music cd in the drive and used the feature to play that without booting the system and that worked. Long story short i put a new pentium 4 in it and bam working system. So heres my questions it says it only supports 1gb of ram per dimm slot, i have placed 2gb sticks in dimm 1 and dimm2= 4gb's will this then support another 2 more sticks in the remaining dimm's. Also i have the manual and it says it only supports Intel® Pentium® 4 520/ 530/ 540/ 550/ 560 Processor with HT Technology which i googled the chipset which listed many more supported so i am running a P4 672 which does run hot, so i updated the bois to have fans on always and am running a targus cooling pad. if anyone has input to help me out on the ram and if i should be running this cpu in this unit thanks in advance

26, ICS9248BF-87, ICS9248BF-96, ICS9248BF-102) They all function with no error. this is a M6400 Precision DELL laptop. please assist me, im sorry i intruded, the website wouldnt let me post up a new thread.

Could you please click on the diagnosis tab in setfsb, then click getfsb and take a screenshot? By looking at the diagnosis tab, I might be able to tell you if I think you have a lock on the pll.

It would also be good if we continue this conversation in the following thread:

I am runing a 3.8 G in mine. Runs fine.Dont remember what kind. This lapy does run hot. I made a cooler with 4 fans that I have always used with this 7700. It is about 5 years old now , but I have replaced all components at-lest once. I have tryed all the GPUs. I have 6 dead ones here. But parts are very cheep now. You can buy complete 7700s on ebay for parts for almost nothing.
