Hey guys, yesterday I discover that my ethernet card died, even though the in the hardware section it says the the part is work, when I connect my ethernet line to it, it says no connection (a red x over 2 tiny computer icon).

How do I make sure it is perfectly dead? I tried another wire and there is no connection. My alienware's wireless has died years ago, and now the ethernet card is dead, I have no internet connection on it anymore.

First of all, I'm a noob at fixing my alienware, please have any instruction written in layman term

Any instruction on how I might be able to fix it the ethernet card how?

What is the available a replacements for wireless card, what are the recommended ones that will fit the board.

What is the recommended replacement for ethernet card...

Btw I already tried roll back and it doesn't work, recently I added a western digital my book live network harddrive, and then I disconnected it for us on backing up my other laptop, but roll back shows no fix to my ethernet problem.

And how do I see what type of mobo I got on my alienware?

Easiest fix is to get a USB WiFi adapter IMHO.

Should not be too hard assuming it isn't directly soldered onto the board. On my m5750 its a 5 minute job. Open back panel. Unplug cables going to ethernet / usb board. Remove screws holding board in. Remove board. Then just repeat to put back in.

I agree with m11x dude, why not trying an external usb wireless card, it's price is anywhere between $20-40.

Getting an external may be your only option. It looks like the ethernet port is directly onboard the motherboard unlike my m5750.
