I can't seem to upgrade to anything above 186.03 without either getting a Code 43 or a non-responsive PCI bus 1 function 0 device 0. Does anyone have a workaround? Does upgrading to Windows 7 help?

It because of the switchable graphics in the m15x. You can't go any higher than 186.

Not sure if the switchable gfx is the reason for this problem, because it has never been confirmed by anyone.

However it's a fact that the latest version working with the m15x is the 186.92 from lv2go.

Actually it has been proven, its a known fact that that the m15x can't go any higher than 186. Nvidia dropped support for the switchable graphics after 186.
