I removed the front bezel when I was considering replacing the LCD panel. Today I reattached the cover, very carefully, or so I thought. Now the computer starts up (I can hear the Windows tones) but the screen is black.

What did I do??? Any suggestions? Please :)

P.S. The num lock and caps lock icons don't light up now either. The other icons do.

Sounds like you might have knocked out the inverter connection ( the small board underneath the LCD panel) or you may have caught the LCD cable and damaged it.

I found two places where things were lose/disconnected. They are in the red circles. I thought I had them secure when I closed it up, guess not. Now I wan to put the cover back on, but am having difficulty with these crazy wires/cables. Can you suggest a way for me to place them where they are supposed to be in order to put the cover back on? I don't know how it is supposed to look in here.

Looks like it was taken apart, the thick black wire/connector should never come loose on its own. The blue/white/black intertwined wire should be tucked in, and the white and black antenna wires should be under everything else.

I am about to part out a M9750 soon, I will get some pics on how it should look wire wise (everything was the same pretty much on the M9700/M9750).

I actually had a silver M9700 laying around haha, here is what it looks like (well, how it should look like lol) you will want to pull up the keyboard to get everything tucked away.

Thank you so much for the pictures - they helped a lot! I finally have everything tucked in where it needs to be, everything is connected, I just turned it on and voila! It's working beautifully! I don't want to see the insides of this Alien ever again!

    Thanks again!!
