I recently bought a pre-owned m9700i-R1. The laptop stays on and works without any problems, but it smells like burnt plastic coming out of one of the vents and it smells really bad, so I shut the laptop down. I don't think this is normal, has anyone else had this type of situation before or know what the problem could be and how to get rid of that smell. Thanks

You should open the bottom panel, and check if anything looks melted.

The m9700i-R1 is actually the m9750, the label on the bottom of these has always been wrong. Personally I would disassemble all the vents and check for any melting of the plastic parts underneath.

I'll open it up tomorrow afternoon and take a look. Is it possible the new charger I got is causing it to do that? I got the wrong charger, they sent me a 19v == 7.89a charger and the correct one I need is a 19v == 9.5a I turned it off and haven't plugged it back in or anything since I smelt that burning smell. I'm gonna open it up before I try anything else. Worst case, something is wrong and I can either fix it or sell it. I bought it for $350, I could sell the vid card alone in that thing for $200 or so
