So, when will you be working on pulsing light effect? Because the current option is morph, which only changes the color, pulsing would be much more smooth and less distracting. Oh, and your color wheel is not on the link provided.
-
I have moved the application development and will be updating the tools there. It was getting hard to maintain consistency among all the threads for the latest link. First thing I want to have in Color Wheel is to Auto Update feature. No more manual downloading to upgrade the version...
See the development thread here - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=307050 -
the difference is that the two minijacks pop up when something is inserted to specify what was recently inserted into them (mic, headphone, front speaker, etc).
Hopefully I'll get that done tonight. now if I can only find the switch to enable auto-disable on the touchpad, I'd be all set. -
You still had issues with Mic? I thought that was fixed long back. I had to do nothing just install the latest driver and it worked like the default drivers. If I do not have any Mic plugged into system it will use the ones next to webcam. if you plug something in then it will switch to the external mic.
Touchpad is something that we need to work upon... hmmmm -
when I installed the Realtek drivers under x64, this feature didn't work... I finally went poking the other day, and I found a checkbox that re-enabled it. I'll post more details (and pictures) later. -
ohhh I see, now I got it what you were talking about.
-
Okay, so I formatted my hd and put windows xp on it because vista slows down the games i play. I cannot install my audio driver for some reason and the command center will not install properly. I know this thread is for 64 bit vista. But the people who own an 15x are very few. So could anyone help me. I would be very greatful.
-
What is the problem that you are facing with CC ? have you patched it as mentioned in the guide. for sound drivers you need to have latest realtek drivers
-
I've finally gotten around to it... for those that miss that little dialog that pops up when you plug in an audio device, asking what you just plugged in, this is for you.
there's a hidden button, circled in this picture... and that's your keystone.
which brings up this dialog:
check the box, and you're done!

nice work mystik, I am adding this to guide for people to find it easily.

my 3Dmark06 score went down after installing Vista ultimate x64.
i had windows Vista home premuim x32 which comes with the recovery disc ,i scored 10444.
now after reading this guide i wanted to give it a shoot and i though that my 3Dmark would go higher..but actually i got 9777.
is that because of the driver of my gpu ?
and one more question where can i download the driver of the webcam? -
What GPU driver you had earlier and what you have now?
You don't need any driver for your webcam, make sure it is enabled by pressing the key combination FN+F9 -
i dont know what driver i had ,but now i have 177.98
-
180.10 is out only for vista 64, I am downloading them and will share the results with you. At present I am running on 178.26 which gave me improved results over 177.98
-
okay i will try them out with you..
a link will be apprecicated. -
-
Edit: Vikas is too fast.
-
I TRIED 178.26 its not supported by my gpu
-
I'm using 178.13 with Vista x64, and it's running just fine. I havn't tested it with 3DMark, but I don't usually obsess about a few points in synthetic benchmarks.
-
It is supported, you need to download the Patched INF file and replace with the one in extracted files.
-
i tried 180.10 and 178.26 both are not compatible.
i think that i red somewhere that i can make them compatible.
and about the webcam ,i think its not working ,i cant use with my msn messenger ,it says that it not connected or its being used by another application.even when i press Fn+F9.
and on my device manager ,i can see unkown device ,i still dont know that is it -
ok lets say i want to apply 178.26 which you said it gave better result.
i extracted the 178.26 archive, now where can i locate the patched inf file? -
Go to http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista64/178.26 Next to the download link there is a link called Modded INF Download it and replace with the extracted files. Now run the setup.exe
-
just tried the 178.26 ...same score -.-
-
I was wondering for me to put 64bit vista ultimate..do I need the full version to make this work? or will the upgrade be fine? I keep trying to use the upgrade disk but it says the system doesnt support it.
-
i dont think you can use the upgrade feature.
-
You cannot upgrade from 32bit OS to - 64Bit. It is going to be a fresh install
-
Alrite...thanks for the replys...time to go get another copy i guess
-
Do you own a OEM or retail version of Vista ? If you have Retail version of Vista 32 bit then you can order Vista 64bit media for free and use the same key to install 64bit. All you need to pay is for shipping.

Does anyone have the old Command Center for download? I'm really not sure what happened but my keyboard lights stopped working last week. I tried all the fixes, but nothing worked. I uninstalled Command Center and went to reinstall it, but it's not on my original CD/DVD's and the My Hive download is for the updated version (1017).
Please can somebody help me???
Thanks in advance. -
Though the My Hive will still have the old version. Can you try to open the theme file I have attached to this thread.
-
Nevermind. I tried to run the 1017 install from a USB stick. Once I moved the install to the desktop everything worked. Now my keyboard lights up again.
-
Good News Is Coming Very Soon....
-
I just did the whole update thing, so my AlienFX is so buggered that it's not even lighting up...
so either we have good news, as in, new CC in a few days, or I'm going to reinstall the old CC so my lights work. -
Good news just arrived...
I have updated the guide and was very much impressed by AW's efforts to follow my path. Uninstall the Command Center and Webcam driver completely to make sure everything works great. And then follow my guide once again.
Hope you like it. If you do then please donate some rep -
Should I also remove the OSD driver before reinstalling?
-
No... Just uninstall the Command Center. OSD is not changed at all affected
-
well Vikas, I'm having a problem. My lights won't light up... and by that, I mean NONE of them. not even the alienhead on the back. no switch panel lights, no harddrive indicator, no keyboard or touchpad lights.
my system is dark.
when I try to enable AlienFX it pumps back an error that it couldn't talk to my hardware.
no idea why. any suggestions? so far I've completely removed the old version and installed the new version of CC, everything seems to be working except this, even the facial recognition is doing fair. I 'uninstalled' all the USB controllers to see if that would wake it up, no luck. rebooted several times and still nothing.
maybe that alienFX firmware update screwed it? -
Mystik, I don't have 64 bit vista but I have encountered that problem before already quite a few times.
This happened to me when I switched from the 8800M GTX to the integrated video card. Try using Binary GFX again, lights should come back on. -
I was seriously contemplating switching over to Vista x64 myself but then I dug around and found the following info over at microsoft.com:
When discussing 32-bit applications in Vista x64
Similarly. Even x64 written applications are limited to 2 GB of address space in Vista x64 regardless of how much memory you have installed unless they are programmed for "IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE".
So, it seems that 32-bit apps in vista x64 is unlikely to gain any benefits if you install more memory, and even more interestingly, unless the the 64-bit app is specifically coded for it will also not benefit from more memory.
This knowledge makes it really not worth it for me and I'm gonna stick with Vista x86 for now. -
-
Awright, I see this as a nice opportunity to jump in and clear some myths about 64 bit operating systems in general.
It is not only about hitting the limit of 4GB, that should not be the only reason to move to 64bit. When programs are compiled/running in 64bit mode they can transfer double the data per clock cycle which means half the time required to transfer the data from Disk<->Ram<->Processor
1) Speedy Data Transfer: Processes waiting for I/O to complete is still the most time consuming in the modern systems, unless you are using SSD. With 64bit OS you can double the data transfer speed.
2) Support for over 128GB of RAM: Of course your BIOS and hardware need to support that much RAM and you can throw it all on vista. The 64-bit versions of Windows can utilize more memory than 32-bit versions of Windows. This helps minimize the time spent swapping processes in and out of memory by storing more of those processes in Random access memory (RAM) rather than on the hard disk. This, in turn, can increase overall program performance. For more details, go to A description of the differences between 32-bit versions of Windows Vista and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista online.
3) More responsive: The 64-bit versions of Windows Vista on computers with at least 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM can be more responsive when you are running many programs at once. They are usually compatible with hardware devices and programs you might currently be using, and can help ready your computer for the next generation of performance improvements. This makes a 64-bit computer a good choice whether you're editing family photos and video, playing games, or using other programs that require complex calculations and a lot of memory, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. A 32-bit computer still works very well for most programs, however. For example, spreadsheet programs, web browsers, and word processing programs will run at about the same speed on either a 32-bit or a 64-bit computer. Programs running on 64-bit versions of Windows Vista perform better if both hardware drivers and 64-bit programs are available.
EDIT: Above all features do not require you to compile your program with "IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE" flag.
These are just very few benefits that I could think of now apart from many others. Consider games from Crytek and Sierra they are already 64bit ready. Yes we are in migration phase but need to adapt to the latest technology. When there is a need there is a way -
-
thanks ,everything works ,but the touch buttons are not.(bluetooth ,wireless, etc.)
the Fn+ buttons are working.
and the webcam is giving me many colors (only colors) when i try to use it in an application like msn messenger.
but when i try to login the facial login works good. -
-
That is a software limit you can increaseI know how... but the 64 architecture can address upto 128GB. More information here - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778.aspx
I think you are talking about same page though. Still 4 times the limit of 32bit -
