HELP!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a 9800m GT to replace one that I have to keep baking every few months. Anyway I installed it today in my GEN 1 M17x and the computer just sees it as a regular graphics card and the card wont accepted any drivers that I try to install. I tried placing the card in the master and slave slots with the same results. Any ideas? Do I have to reflash bios? Does the card have to be specific to my Area 51 M17x? The card I purchased is from an Area 51 m15x. The card I received has a sli plug and is labeled 9800m gt so it appears to be the correct card. Thanks for any and all ideas.

    Download the drivers from laptopvideotogo.

    Use the modded inf file.

Force the driver install through device manager (ignore any "problems").

OK Ill try. But if that does not work could it be a bios issue???? How do you reflash bios?

Don't worry, this problem is common. If you force the driver installation it will be fine.

By the way, if you have any doubt that it is a 9800m GT, just check what's written on the core and google that number.

Ok, open device manager, click on "display adapters", right click on your display adapter > properties > Details > Hardware Ids.

    It should say something like:
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_ XXXX&SUBSYS_ XXXXXXXX

*Those X's are where you will have numbers that you should enter on the laptopvideotogo driver search page.

That will get you the correct driver and inf file.

Then download those, put the inf file in the driver folder (replace the original one that is there).

Now you should be able to run setup, but I prefer to do this:
In device manager, click on "display adapters", right click on your display adapter > update driver > "browse my comp..." > "let me pick from a list..." > "have disk" > "browse"

then browse to that new inf file, install it that way and ignore errors.

Thanks for the help, both cards up and running and my test game Crisis Warhead runs nice and smooth again!!!!
So are there any new games that are as demanding as Crisis?
