Does anyone know where to get the latest BIOS?

MyHive does not show anything...

(running @ stock bios)

 

Whats "stock" BIOS? They've shipped with B10, B13, and now B14. B13 added 8GB RAM support, and B14 was for the quad cores to "attempt" to fix stuttering (but failed).

You can get B13 here.

 

Woops forgot to mention.

My M17 was shipped with B10.

B14 helped my M17. Not perfect 100% of time but much better on most games even Crysis. No stuttering at all when doing anything else besides gaming.

No it's time for guesses ... I thought the shuttering would be related to overheating ... how can a bios help that problem? Do the fans spinn faster? More often @ higher speeds?

B14 had the opposite affect with me. Stuttering was apparent in full force. I reverted back to B10. Those who use the OCZ BIOS also allegedly don't have stuttering. I still am not 100% sure its NB heat related if this is the case, unless its fan spinning sooner as you said.

Hey guys... how many of you ordered your with the respawn disc? i didnt buy it, it was 50 bucks! so wat do we do when we want to restore it back to factory settings? (the way it was shipped) i know there is a vista disc and drivrer disc... does that have the alien FX on it? can we make recovery disc with dvd-r like most laptops??? i also heard you can use norton ghost to make an image.. how does that work? hopefully someone here can explain this.. this is for the people who didnt buy the respawn disc with their order....

and for the people who did... can you sell me a copy? i'll pay you via paypal!
i know its "not allowed" but.. its worth a shot to ask!

There is a respawn partition on the hard drive. As long as you don't install windows 7 right away, the respawn partition can be used. Even after you install Windows 7 you can still use the respawn partition, however you will need 3rd party software on a bootable disc in order to access and run the respawn. The respawn partition is the same image as your factory installed image, and is the same as the respawn disc.

 

The windows 7 beta is Ultimate and so you have the possiblility to burn your own backup with W7. It's realy easy and it works quite well, you only need a CD and a DVD, that's all

As Marvie100 said, you can also use the backup on your HDD, but I deleted it during putting a second HDD in and making both run in Raid 0.

I ordered it because I had to send my first m17 back becaus I hadn't one

Is the warranty for the M17 transferable ?

 

No its not transferable.

 

This is something Alienware should consider changing.

A transferable warranty with the ability to purchase upgrades from A.W. would make used A.W.'s more attractive.
