Hi, I recently updated my Alienware M17-R1 from Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Now I keep getting random Blue Screens of Death, usually when I'm using the internet. Crash reports will sometimes say that the video driver failed but I've updated my driver and it still hasn't solved the problem. I've been playing games just fine but when I try to open Google Chrome the computer crashes. It makes me think it could be a problem with Chrome but it still often says it's the video driver so I thought I would check here and see if someone with more experience can narrow it down.

Here is what I get after a crash.

Clean install, presumably? And you can check gpu/drivers by unchecking:
' Settings > Show advanced settings... > System > Use hardware acceleration when available'.

Definitely try a clean install. Then be sure to use the correct legacy driver for your gpu.

What are you opening in Chrome and is hardware acceleration enabled in the advanced settings? If so try to disable it. Is Chome up-to-date? Are you using the default flash plugin?

Have you tried FireFox just to see if it does the same?

Shot in the dark but have you tried a non-hardware accelerated (AERO) theme in Windows 7? Try one of the basic ones.

It looks like you have the correct driver, you didn't have to force install it right?

When you say you "upgraded" to 64-bit you mean you did a fresh re-install right?

Have you poked around the catalyst control center for any "hardware acceleration" options? If not try looking & disabling to see what it does.

From the X2 it looks like you have a Master & Slave card in crossfire? Thought about taking out the slave or disabling crossfire in Catalyst Control Center to see if maybe one card is bad? Of course that won't help if the master is bad.

Monitor any temps to make sure that's not an issue? HWMonitor is a good tool for this.

    ^^This should get you started

All what protivakid said. From my experience it seems that your GPU is dying, probably master, since slave is used only under heavy 3d load.

Download a lil program called WHOCRASHED....Analyze the crash dump files so you can see exactly WHOCRASHED....then go from there...sometimes it could be something so simple as a bad bluetooth driver.
