There is a picture of the bottom of the M9750 if you are not familiar with it.

Anyway, I am looking for a cooler for my laptop, and noticed I might not need a more expensive cooler that has fans under all of the vents.

I have the heatsink in the same place as the picture, but I don't have a secondary video card, I just have the single (Nvidia 8700m GT).

So I wonder, why is the heatsink there if I don't have a secondary video card? And since I don't have a second video card, should I be worried about cooling that vent as much as the middle vent where the primary GPU is?

The heatsink is a single piece which cools both the cpu and the secondary gpu. There would be no logistical point in them having a part for people with a second gpu and a part for people without.
You only really need cooling on the primary gpu and the cpu area if you dont have a secondary one.

Makes sense, thanks for the perfect explanation.
