I used the update utility with the Zfactory .29, I assumed it would ask you before flashing, or at least give you the option to dump your previous bios and back it up. but when I ran the update it erased my B14 bios, the link for the bios is completely dead, on alienwares site, and rapidshare megaupload, etc.. can't find nothing. I contacted alienware support and they pretty much are saying "we don't want anything to do with pre-dell alienware systems" they don't host the files anymore, they don't provide parts, they don't provide tech support, and they could give a rats about your AW account number or even your warranty. just not cool at all, I'm hoping there is somebody out there still using B13 or B14 that could do a bios dump and upload the file. I will also make a mirror for the upload :hi2:

    EDIT:
ok. after hours of searching I found a working link, not sure how long that will be up, so I have re-uploaded the file. thanks to Serg008!!!

I'd like to find copys of the .28 zfactor and the b13 bios just for archive purposes, if anyone has those let me know I will make a mirror.

ok, I have found the .028 bios from OCZ's Website. I'm not sure if it is the modded Z-Factor One, But I'm willing to give it a try.

    M17 OCZ 028 Bios.zip

    Alienware M17 W840_029 zfactor VT MOD R2.rar

    AW B13 file anyone?

This is my first time posting here having spent a long time reading :)
I have an AlienWare M17 - R1 currently with 1TB logical (striped across two physical 500GB HDDs), dual ATI 3870s, Duo Core T9400 and 4GB Ram; the links provided on this forum have been excellent in getting it working pretty well.

I have a Q9000 and 8G Ram ready to install but understand that first I will need to upgrade the BIOS from B10 to B14.

So my question is, having downloaded the B14 BIOS in ISO form from this link and created a bootable ISO is there anything else that I need to do to upgrade the BIOS (apart from putting the CD in the drive and booting from it) - I have been looking for a simple step by step set of instructions as I want to learn from everyone here the best way of sucessfully installing (without bricking).
Is there anything else (specific to AW) that I need to be aware of that needs to be done at the same time?
Will I need to do anything on the new BIOS to ensure that the two discs remain as one logical striped drive following the flash and before rebooting (I am assuming that optimised settings will need to be reloaded and my specific BIOS settings added in before attempting a reboot to Windows 7)?

    Thanks in advance
